We came across Canter's when we were wandering through Treasure Island on our recent trip to Vegas. The sandwiches here are gigantic. I had the turkey and my husband had the hot pastrami. The decor has a bit of a retro 50's look. The seat are amazingly comfortable and I wanted to just lay over and nap after our big lunch. Nice respite from the endless walking in Las Vegas.

We dined here for dinner during a recent trip to Las Vegas. It is located among the canal shops at the Venetian, so you can sit canal side if you get lucky. Interesting drink menu. I had a cactus fruit margaritas. Very tart and tasty. The entree prices run from about $15 to $25. I had wanted to try the squash blossom quiche, but they were out. Instead I had the shirmp enchiladas. My dining partner had the seared ahi. Our meals were good, but they were not over the top. The cocktails were certainly the highlight.

Grande Lux Cafe, which is inside the Venetian (casino level) is the grown up version of the popular Cheesecake Factory. Interestingly, their menu is still similarly priced to the Cheesecake Factory in San Diego. Portions are large. The chicken flatbread sandwich would be enough to feed three people! There is a breakfast buffet that includes juice and coffee for $13.95 from 6 am to 11am. This is handy if you want to dine quickly. The breakfast buffet includes made to order omeletes as well as breakfast meats and assortment of breakfast pastries, fruits, cereals, bread and muffins and yogurt. We ended up dining her twice during our stay in in Las Vegas, because it was a good value.

We recently stayed at the Venetian for a short getaway. Upon arrival at the property, we were greeted with friendly doormen. Walking into the Venetian from the porte cocher is amazing. Huge fountain and phenomenal painted ceilings ... like being in the Sistine Chapel. Check in was not to be until 3pm, however, they let us check into our room early (noon). All rooms here are a suite. There are robes in the bathroom as well as nice toiletry products. We dined at two of the restaurants, which I will review under seperate posts. Cafe Lux is a good value. We played some slots, but lade luck was not on our side. Overall, the Venetian really brings it home with their excellent personal service.

I recently stayed at this property for a work trip. The hotel is located right on the SR-111, about one mile south of the SR-98. The rooms are large and come with free high speed internet. I reserved online for the best price. Include a free continental breakfast. It is right next to a movie theater and within walking distance to several restaurants. Parking lot is brightly lit and the front desk staff was friendly.

The Prado is a great place for happy hours. There is interior seating at their spacious lounge, or you can sit in the front or back patio area. Great drink prices and half-price appetizers. Situated in a historic building in Balboa Park, the Prado make going out feel special. The staff is alway on the mark. This is one of the Cohn Restaurant group establishments, and they definately know how to deliver. There is valet parking, or there are a few spots out front. Best parking bet is south of the restaurant in one of the lots off of Presidents Way.

This is a new Cheesecake Factory in the Otay Ranch shopping center. For years, the only Cheesecake Factory in San Diego was the one in Fashion Valley and the wait could be horrible. We went to this new one in Chula Vista for lunch and breezed right in. Plenty of indoor seating and a nice sunny patio as well. The Cheesecake Factory has a HUGE menu, so there is something for everyone. Valet parking available during busy hours, or you can just park in the lot across the street.

This small Japanese place is located in a strip mall in the Kearny Mesa area. Parking out front, or go to the back of the mall and park in back (much easier). Staff is friendly. I love the noodle bowls and my husband (who lived in Japan for a few years) like the yakitori. Beer and wine available. Decor is average, but food and friendly staff make up for that. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

I have only eaten at this location for the lunch specials and I have alway been satisfied with my meal. They are good about getting you in and out in a reasonable amount of time, particularly if you are on a lunch hour. The lunch specials includes soup, your main dish, salad, and wonton/appetizers. Parking can get tough in the little lot, so you should get there by 11:45 if you don't want to fight the cars on the lot.
