I always like it when a restaurant has a new type of salad because I really like to have good vegetables and fruits in my diet. Thank heavens Applebee's moved into Renton, now we have more variety. They have two salads I like--apple, spiced walnuts and a chinese chicken salad. In addition, I tried their rosemary chicken that came with garlic fries and spinach/craisin salad and a orange-beef stir fry that was quite good. Most items range from $5-15 (for steaks) and are tasty. The service is mellowy paced so don't be in a hurry. Seating is plentiful. Bathrooms are clean. They also have a $1 bite-size brownie dessert which is perfectly sized for calories and that last empty bit in your stomach.

Fusions Artists Gallery was a fun stop in Ocean Shores with all sorts of artwork from area artists. I even found a new artists I liked, Glenna P. Parker and bought two cards with her work. There were other painters work displayed, blown glass including many yard art sticks, "nebulas"--a type of work combining clay with glass with an interesting effect, lots of gorgeous jewelry, unusual pottery. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Her husband does some of the displayed photography. And we found out she's a "wrestling mom" just like my sister.

We attended a program at Meany Theatre and found that a two block walk got us to Schulzy's Sausage. Our party tried the Schultzy's Sausage burger--declared delish, the Kosher Sausage with Sauerkraut, side salads, and a Pepper steak sandwich. Fries were salty and thin and crisp, good. Salads were fresh and they redid mine without cheese without question. Beers and soft drinks were delivered quickly, in fact, our friends arrived before us and were offered three samplers of beer to try. Cool. They even split the checks between the two parties. Bathrooms were a little tight but clean. Neat place.

Fairwood Library is part of the King County Library system and has books, a good career section, tapes, dvds, computers and more. Their offerings are available through the internet at http://www.kcls.org . You need to get a library card to check out items. Their career section is often my first target with course listings for many of the area colleges, good references for how to find a job, and some job listings. The computers are in high demand via signup sheets. They have many community programs including tax help, english as a second language etc. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Huge section of children's books.

Blue Boy West Golf Course is well maintained as a cute place, but really tough and short. It has only 9 holes that you play twice. Good challenge with some down hill shots and some water hazards....

It's a good place for ladies with shorter games. Not very busy so you can feel at ease while you play. The staff is nice and friendly.

Lake Wilderness Golf Course is a tight housing development course with lots of challenge. The staff is very friendly. Expect a good hike since the 18th hole is down in a hole that you hike up. Some water hazards, some side hill play. The snack bar has plenty of goodies. It's a shorter course so your scores should do well, hee hee. Lots of tree hazards. The houses sit back from the course so they rarely come into play.

Bellevue Golf Course is often busy but provides a pleasant round with lots of challenge. The biggest challenge is making it uphill to the snack bar at the break between the 9th and the 18th, but us golfers never mind a hike. The marshall's keep play moving by warning beginners to keep up. Good practice tee, good snacks, friendly staff. Fees are reasonable and golf carts available but the course is easy to walk.

FYE Music and Video store at Southcenter mall had good deals and helpful staff. I managed to get several tapes, my niece and nephew bought some also. We were helped promptly. Staff gave a few suggestions. We were provided with a coupon that helped save a few dollars. The have a good collection of DVDs and CDs in a variety of categories. They focus primarily on what is currently fashionable and not nearly as comprehensively as Silver Platters. But, they are right next to the food court and the bathrooms so they have the advantage of being convenient.

I'm afraid I didn't have a baby, but I had a doctor with Women's Health Specialists and found they were very pleasant, competent and well organized. They also scheduled me into surgery a number of times. They have an emergency line that got you into a doctor, too, over the weekend which I used once and very much appreciated. Many mothers were in the office and they had a neat play area for children. They did ultrasounds in the office and general ob/gyn examinations. My doctor, Dr. Hunter, has since started her own business in Auburn so I go there now.

Competitive Edge Athletics has a good supply of team athletic wear and men's swimsuits. My husband needed a new speedo swimsuit and they had several in his size, one brand name tyre which looked like a speedo knockoff, which is better than many stores we've looked at. They also have letterman jackets, custom embroidery on hats and other clothing. Only a small selection of women's swim suits. The owner Mai Nguyen was very pleasant and helpful. An interesting shop with what we needed.
