I love Serafina's bar. There, I said it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a lush and don't drink at bars too often but when I am in the mood for an after-work cocktail I can't think of many places better suited for my tastes than Serafina. Located in Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood, it's a stone's throw from my office which is great but beside the point. Serafina's small, casual bar stands on its own as a place to meet friends and imbibe. The bartenders there are really friendly and knowledgeable about the wine list, cocktails, and even the beers on tap. Ask them for recommendations and you'll be glad you did. I've also had a couple of meals at Serafina which I've enjoyed. I've never been blown away by the cuisine (pretty standard Italian) but it's always been good.

You cannot go wrong attending a Cubs game. It is an experience from start to finish. Amazing atmosphere, picturesque setting (if you're the sort that appreciates cityscapes), and an incredibly loyal fanbase. I lived in Chicago for 4 years and one of my most favorite things about that wonderful city is the experience Wrigley and the Cubs provide 81 days out of every year. Do yourself a favor and go if you get the chance.

In my experience, picking a cellular provider, plan and phone is about as much fun as a root canal. There are just way too many pricing options, rules, requirements, etc. for anyone but the most aggressive and detail-oriented shopper to feel confident in a decision. Against that backdrop, I can't attest to the competivess of Cingular's rates, the breadth of the phone selection, or the quality of the customer service. What I can tell you is that I've used Cingular (and before them AT&T Wireless) for years and have never had any major issues with the phone service. I've even taken my phone (GSM) to the UK and Australia where it worked fine. So, if dropped calls and connection quality are issues that matter a lot to you (they are to me) then I suggest giving Cingular a try.

Hi Alison. My wife and I moved from San Francisco to Chicago a few years back and used Bekins. Like most moving companies, the logistics are handled by local firms so experiences can vary. That said, we were really satisfied with the level of service. Whatever you do, make sure you get multiple bids and a guaranteed estimate. The more disreputable companies can sometimes play games with the kind of estimates they make so be sure to ask a lot of questions. Prior to that move, we did an in-city move and used a local organization called Delancy St Movers (again in San Francisco). Many cities have organizations like it that help homeless men get back on their feet by giving them an opportunity to work. Our experience with them was fantastic and the price was very competitive. You might want to ask around to see if there are any organizations like it in your area. Good luck.

My wife and I went to Cascadia last Saturday night for a birthday celebration (mine). We were seated at 8:30 and weren't waited on until about 8:45. Then it was another 10 minutes or so before we were served. Cascadia is a pretty expensive restaurant so I was more than a little irked with the way the evening was unfolding. Just in the nick of time, the sommelier arrived with two complementary glasses of sparkling wine coupled with the first course of the prix fixe we ordered. Better. The service from then on was good but not great. What we wanted was our server to act as a guide. Explaining a bit about each course, the choices of ingredients, the pairing of flavors, etc. Instead, we were just told what it was and to "enjoy". In short, we were pleased with the food but nonplussed by the service.

I'm a big fan of Kenneth Cole shoes. They're stylish, comfortable, and durable. They're also not ridiculously priced (usually). Also, they're available both online and offline (Nordstrom, Kenneth Cole, etc.). Whatever you do, do not buy shoes at Banana Republic. I made that mistake a few years ago. They're the crappiest quality shoes I've ever purchased.

You might laugh/scoff at this suggestion but don't knock it until you've tried it. There's a decent bar up there and it's hard to deny the kitsch factor. A friend of mine a few years back bought an annual pass to the spaceneedle (can take up to 4 people up on the elevator) for something like $40 (double-check the price). His wife and he would meet there for drinks after work pretty regularly to avoid rush hour traffic and revel in the view. Pretty genius. Go there for a drink and then wander into Belltown for a wonderful dinner at one of the many restaurants there. How can you go wrong?

Sambar is in lower Phinney Ridge or East Ballard depending on your perspective. In any event, it's a terrific bar and definitely worth a sidetrip. It's really, really small and generally full (but not crowded) so be advised. They serve fantastic cocktails (always ask for the specials - I had a refreshing aloe/lime cocktail the last time I went and I loved it) as well as high end bar food. It's adjacent to Le Gourmand and they share the same kitchen so the menu's limited but the food is really good. Check it out.
