This place is, first of all, absolutely HUGE!!!! It is hard to find where to start. If I were to go here again I would find out when the tours are, and see some of those. It is an absolutely gorgeas building, with great work.
My advice is go early on a Tuesday (it's free on that day) then, when they close at 4:30, you can hightail it to the Museum of Contemporary Art for another 4 hours (That's long enough to see the whole MCA)

I cried when I went to the Field museum in Chicago because they had no Greeco- Roman art. The best thing about my time there was probobly getting a discont on admission (If you don't want to see one of the special exhibits, you can save $7 a person) Instead I saw the "Evolving Planet" display. It gave a really liberal veiw of how the world was created, but they had cool pictures of animals that don't exist anymore.
I went on the tour of "Ancient Egypt" which was good, but very impersonal. The "Auswitch Diaries" was probobly my favorite part.
All in all I was disapointed by this museum, but it would be great to take young kids to meet Sally!

I am a huge fan of the Minneapolis Institute of Art (I call it the "MIA" for short). They exhibits are really great, and it is free EVERY DAY!! The weekends there aren't too busy, and they have one Sunday a month with family activities.
My favorite thing about the museum is there is something for everyone. I am a total dunce with art, so I love their free tours. All the docents are knoledgable and will tailor the tour to there audience (Larry is my favorite!)

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the state fair. It's really not a good place to go alone (or semi-alone). Being super cheap, half the fair is out of the question, but I got tired of the horse barns a long time ago.
Just a tip: If you're planning on buying deep fried food, don't go on the last day!! They reuse the oil, and buy that time the fair smells disgusting and the stuff tastes terrible. :)

For many years I was a devoted follower of the Clinique three - step system: Wash; Tone; Moisturize. Unfortunately, I still had acne, no matter which of there products I used. When I was a devotee my skin was dry and peeling from the toner and shiny and pimply from the moisterizer. It is pretty overpriced, but if you time it right you can get a "Free gift with Purchase". They aren't all that great, but neither are the products,

At Q studio in Maplewood mall, they have amazingly cheap walk in portraits. They cost hardly anything (You buy a session that includes wallets).
They have a whole bunch of backrounds (Most of which are tacky) and are pretty flexible for what you want. It's in/ out, get your proofs in 30 minutes. It is no Sears, but it's cheap, and GREAT for passports (cheaper than a drugstore). We got ours there and were not disapointed.

I just learned that all the games at Chuckie Cheese are now one token. Wow. Whenever I go to a mall or a museum where they have the black and white, drawing style portraits, I just laugh. It is nearly impossible to see one for under 3 dollars. At most Chuck e Cheese locations they have one of those machines for one token! They are really cool pictures, too.

Now usually I am a casual drinker of the black coffee people in waiting rooms offer. That's why it threw me off a little when I got coupons for free any size anything at Caribou Coffee. I like my coffee black because it's base. Take pot. Fill provided cup. Tad da! Not so here. It was tearing me apart. So many choices! What do I choose?!! I boldly faced my fears and ordered a soy Carmel High Rise, double Expresso, and 1 got them to put in sugar free carmamel syrup and put the whip in a seperate cup. It gave me a twisted sort of pleasure when it would have rang up at $6.10 (plus tax)
When it was finally ready (it was the afternoon and it took a long time) I tried it. It tasted burnt. Very very very burnt. And not at all like caramel. They added extra caramel for me. Still tasted nothing of carmamel. More? Still no cookie. Luckily I like my coffe strong, so I managed half of it, while my mom ate the whipped fat- I mean cream. I refrigerated it, and it was much better cold. Coffee is almost always better in the morning.

I used to go to the great BK for there veggie burger. I heard a lot of vegatarians did. The people at Burger King are very nice and will give you extra lettuce and pickles and tomato at no extra cost. I was so amazed that they were the only one to sell those things, when they were so good. (I tried one at Mc Donalds in CA where it tasted like dog food)
Then, they changed it. And raised the price. And then, it is just not worth it. Go buy Garden Burgers. Now that is truly a better option than a freezer-burned frizbee.

Personally, I love subway. You get to dicate how they're made. It makes me sad how some people never take advantage of that. Why get a meatball w/ cheddar cheese when you could get a turkey (4.5 slices, not 5) sans cheese with super extra lots of lettuce and pepper and two pickels? The no cal vinagrette is good too.
