My grandpa died a week before Christmas in '06. We were all devestated- and the hospital had us pick a funeral home moments after his death. My grandma just picked one that was close to her home. As far as I know, she was happy with their services, but I wasn't very impressed. My grandpa wanted to be creamated and this was the only service the funeral home took care of. There was no viewing or memorial service at the funeral home. There was no special urn purchased for the ashes, no extra things asked for- but the total bill came to $3000! I went with my grandma when she went to the funeral home the day after my grandpa's death. There was a service going on upstairs that we had to walk by to get to the meeting room, which was in the basement. There was no door in between us and the service being held. So, I can imagine how that family must have felt, hearing us in the basement- sometimes laughing at a funny memory (there were quite a few of us there and we didn't realize there was a service going on when we arrived). The director was pretty cold and matter-of-fact. I realize he sees death every day, but he didn't seem to care that my grandma had just lost her husband. He just wanted to get the facts out as quickly as possibly and couldn't be bothered with an occasional tearful outburst.
Overall, I suppose they did their job adequately. I just feel they were overpriced and not very caring.

My daughter and I were very excited when a Build-a-Bear opened in our local mall. However, this location has some problems. Generally, when a child builds a bear, the employee asks them to do fun things with the little heart that goes inside to personalize the experience. But, when my daughter had a bear built here, the man just said "Kiss the heart so the bear can feel love, rub it on your head so he's smart". He said it very fast, without letting my daughter even do what he said. Then, he took it and stuck it in the bear, hurriedly. He never asked how much stuffing my daughter would like in the bear and he didn't ask her to hug it to make sure it was stuffed how she liked it. There was no one else in the store at the time, so there's no reason he was in such a hurry. The stuffing machine seems to make much more noise than they do in other stores. So, you have to almost yell to be heard. The woman at the cash register was waiting on one other person in front of us in line. We ended up waiting for 10 minutes while they finished their small talk. We were just disappointed with the whole experience. Hopefully, with time, they will improve their service.

This wonderful park is located on Broadway in Three Rivers, MI. They offer disc golf, volleyball, paved walking trails, rustic walking trails, playground equipment, picnic shelters, clean bathrooms, sledding int he winter, and more. In the summer it's a great place to take your children to play on the fun playground equipment. There are benches for parents to sit on, or you can join in the fun. There is a picnic pavilion right by the playground, so it's an ideal place for a family reunion or birthday party. In the fall, they hold a free fall festival. Kids can paint their own pumpkin (pumpkins cost 25 cents this year- a great deal), jump in the "moonwalk", ride a pony ($2), play mini-golf, eat free cider and cookies, take a hay ride, and walk around looking at the homemade scarecrows. In the winter, they have sledding hills with free tubes you can use, and free hot chocolate!

This is a nice studio, with new props and a clean looking environment. I liked the fact that there is no table to set the kids on, they go right on the floor (so they don't have the fear of falling like at some studios). I took my 2.5 month old son to get his picture taken and was given a free session and free photo package for newborns! The photographer was very patient and listened to what I wanted. She didn't make my baby continue to pose for pictures after he was tired (as they do in most studios). When he was done, we were done. We got some really cute pictures. However, we had to pick the free package photo from the first pose group. I imagine this is the same for any photo packages you would purchase. The pictures came in within 2 weeks and looked great. They were high quality photos with natural looking color. I would highly recommend this location

I was recently hospitalized with Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clots in major veins) and diagnosed with a blood clotting disease. Dr. Letzer was assigned as my hematologist while I was in the hospital and I was very happy with his care. He was patient in answering my questions and really seemed to know what he was talking about (which, I found, is a rarity in hospitals). I talked to several other hematologists who had never even heard of the disease I was diagnosed with! His office is very nice and the office staff is friendly. The only problem I've had so far is in getting the office staff to call me to let me know the results of testing I've had done. But, all in all, I'm happy with this office!

This Wendy's is located inside of University Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. This location is wonderful as the hospital food is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I would not have eaten anything during my 4 day stay at the hospital if my husband hadn't been able to go down to Wendy's and get me a wonderful Frosty or a yummy baked potato. Thank goodness for Wendy's!

Previous to my most recent medical problem, I would have rated this office a 2 or a 3. But, after a doctor made a potentially fatal misdiagnosis, I can't rate it higher than a 1.
I made an appointment with Dr. Pinon after suffering from severe abdominal pain for 2 days (and less severe pain for 8 days before that). I had never seen this particular doctor before as there are dozens of doctors at this practice and I almost never see the same one twice. Almost as soon as he walked into the office he had diagnosed me with dyspepsia, or acid reflux. So, he made all of my symptoms fit his diagnosis. My fever of 101 degrees didn't fit with his diagnosis, so he dismissed it saying it was because it was a hot day. As he pushed on my stomach in several areas, I told him where it hurt the most. He completely ignored me and said all of my pain was in the area of the stomach. He went through a list of signs of acid reflux, all of which I told him I didn't have. But, he insisted this was what was wrong with me and prescribed Prevacid for me to take.
Luckily, at the pharmacy, I found out I couldn't take Prevacid while nursing a baby (I had told Dr. Pinon I was nursing). Otherwise, I would have probably tried to live with the pain for another week or so to give the medication time to work. I called the office and practically begged for something else I could do to relieve the pain (which I equated with labor). I was told there was nothing they could do for me unless I stopped nursing and took the Prevacid.
The following day, the pain was absolutely excruciating and I went back in and saw another doctor, Dr. Slater. She was very concerned that I had a fever as well as abdominal pain, especially since it was only 5 weeks after having a baby. She immediately sent me to the emergency room for testing.
I was diagnosed with portal vein thrombosis, a life threatening blood clot, and was hospitalized for 10 days. My hematologist told me that if I had waited much longer, my bowel would have died. I did not expect Dr. Pinon to diagnose this exact problem, but he should have taken me more seriously and sent me for testing, as Dr. Slater did. This kind of incompetence in the medical community should not be accepted.

Bronson Vicksburg doesn't have an inpatient unit anymore, but they offer convenient and friendly service for other medical needs. I have been going there on a daily basis for lab work and have had nothing but friendly encounters with people who really know what they are doing.
When my daughter was a year old, she slammed her fingers in the door and needed stitches. I took her to Bronson Vicksburg and they treated both of us with lots of compassion and quality care.

I'm sure my star rating for this hospital would be lower if I had not been unfortunate enough to also experience U of M hospital. But, since I have something to compare it to, the rating goes up considerably.
I was hospitalized at Bronson Hospital in the short term care unit for 7 days due to abdominal blood clots. I was in an extreme amount of pain (I equate the pain with labor) and it took a while to convince the nurses of this. But, once they understood that I am pretty good at hiding my pain, they started taking me seriously. They were pretty good at answering the call button within 15 minutes or so. The vast majority of them were caring and compassionate. The nurse I had on my last day was absolutely wonderful. I was being transferred to another hospital and she worked hard to get me a private room so I could keep my baby and husband with me at night. She also made arrangements with her sister (who lives in the are of the other hospital) to allow my family to stay in her home! Talk about going above and beyond- we were basically strangers to her. I will always be grateful to her for that!
The doctors and specialists at Bronson suffer from lack of communication. None of them seemed to confer with one another, so they often gave me conflicting information. Unfortunately, this seems to be common in most hospitals.
The rooms at Bronson are very nice, clean, bright, and homey feeling. All of the rooms are private, which is a major plus! The food service is great. They give the patients a menu that they can order from at any time they wish between 7am-7pm. The food is okay, not great, but not terrible. You may be wondering how I know since I was sick. Unfortunately, I am a person that has almost never been sick enough not to be able to eat!
When I was transported to other parts of the hospital for testing, I was always transported in comfort, on a gurney, and brought back to the room quickly afterward. I didn't realize this was a special thing until I went to another hospital that did things quite differently.
All in all, this was a nice hospital to be in, if you have to be in a hospital. Of course, we would all rather be at home!

I'd like to start out by saying that I'm sure this hospital has done wonderful things for many people (my cousin being one of them). But, I don't feel they did anything helpful for me and I was miserable every minute of my stay.
The first thing I noticed about this hospital is how dirty it was. The floors in my room were filthy when I arrived, especially in the bathroom. The walls were also very dirty and everything looked old. The outer shell of the phone was so broken up, I was afraid I would be electrocuted or cut by the the sharp plastic.
Now, let's talk about the food. I was there for 4 days and never once got an edible meal. Everything looked like congealed fat, even the "desserts".
The nurses were very nice, when they came to the room, that is. They were assigned 4 patients each (I asked). I was in a great deal of pain (I equate the pain with labor, it was so severe), so I needed pain meds on a regular basis. It always took a very long time to get my medication. In one instance, it took 4 hours after I first asked before I got some pain medication. The nurse would come in, I'd ask for the meds, she'd say she'd be right back with them, and I wouldn't see her until I called her again. This process just kept repeating itself. It was very frustrating and it brought me to tears on several occasions. Patient comfort is very low on the list at U of M. When patients are transported to x-rays or other tests, they are pushed in a wheelchair. This doesn't sound bad, but I saw so many people in so much pain they were doubled over in the wheelchairs. They should have been transported on a gurney. Several times, I was taken to have testing done and I was left in the hallway for an hour afterward, waiting for someone to take me back to my room. It was a very helpless feeling.
The team of specialists and doctors that worked on my case never seemed to confer with each other. At one point, my hematologist said I was ready to go home, while my primary doctor had scheduled me for surgery the next day. As a result I was left in a constant state of confusion and frustration. I had an MRI done and it took 2 days for someone to actually look at it and give us the results!
I truly hope I never have to return to this awful place. In fact, I won't return here as I'd rather drive a few extra hours and try the Cleveland Clinic.
