Busch gardens is a really great amusement park. It's got a really great combination of fast rides (like Alpengeist and Apollo's chariot), slower rides (like the Roman Rapids water ride, and the log flume) and an assortment of eateries and shops, including a huge German-style Oktoberfest hall! Expensive to get in, depending on when you go, but great fun. Can get VERY busy on summer weekends.

More
Recently, I made my second trip to Colonial Williamsburg and I never ceased to be amazed. A visit around July 4 is a real treat.
Colonial Williamsburg pioneered living history. It is preserved by a private foundation, not the U.S..S. government. A mix of historians and reenacters stroll the park. You never know when you'll run into such a character. We were lucky enough to find a prisoner in the jail who told us about the dangers of those involved in the revolution.
Colonial Williamsburg is also full of taverns, bookstores, great places to spend a few hours. You can eat and drink 17th century faire. Rebels and English troops face off several times a day - a real treat for kids.
To get the most from your trip, get a weekly guide. Everything is not offered everyday. One of the most interesting conversations we witnessed was between two slaves and one freed black discussing the pros and cons of supporting each side. In addition to conversing with themselves, they involved the audience, answering questions and even asking their advice. This particularly conversation was available only on two days, hence the importance of careful planning.
Colonial Williamsburg prices are comparable to other amusement parks. I think it's about $35 for adults. It's well worth it. If you can't afford it, though, you can give your family a taste for the park by visiting the merchants mall connected to Williamsburg. From here, you can see some of the comings and goings. It's nothing like being in the park, but if you don't have the money for tickets, it beats nothing. (Go ahead - put the tickets on the charge card and work a few extra hours. You won't regret it!)

When I lived in Williamsburg, I went to Berrett's for special occasions. The seafood is great, the service is friendly and don't miss a chance to taste their mashed potatoes. Also, the creme brulee is incredible -- I had it a couple years ago and still remember it vividly. SO GOOD!

Busch Gardens is a super fun amusement park! It truly has something for everyone. There are roller coasters, great shows, children's rides, and unique shops. The food is much better than most amusement parks, and the park is spotlessly clean. The park is divided into different European countries (and the food and shops represent that country).
Tickets and things inside the park are fairly expensive, but they are always offering specials. Look online for coupons (like $5 off/ticket if tickets are purchased online) or other promotions.

This place is so wonderful, well worth the money. I have been to several Captail George's, but like this one the best. It is the biggest and has the largest variety. Everything you can possibly imagine is on the buffet, not just seafood items. Oh, and the dessert buffet, just as huge!

This is actually a resort. They have many villas to stay in. The prices are reasonable. The villas are very nice and spacious. There are ponds with ducks and geese. There is a general store with groceries on site and a restaurant that is very good. Our stay here was very nice and enjoyable.

I was originally born and raised in Williamsburg and can tell you that EVERY time I come back to visit I always go to Sal's by Victor. It is a community staple. I love the menu and the many choices. I tried the stuffed rigatoni last night and it was wonderful. The atmosphere would certainly not be considered romantic, but is a family atmosphere b/c it is owned by a family man. Often you can see Victor roaming about the restaurant speaking to the patrons. Don't get me wrong, I've had a couple times in my 29 years where I've wondered whom was in the kitchen, however 9 times out of 10 I walk out fat and happy :) Sun is by far the best server there. She is funny, quick, and always on the ball! I don't write reviews often, however I'd hate for someone to miss out on this place b/c of one bad experience. I've met many who drive into town just for Sal's.......
Pros: Great food, great server Sun, great for large groups
Cons: Fri/Sat can be really crowded and sometimes there are large buses of people

First off, I'll agree with everyone else on this page -- Chez Trinh is yummy. However, don't get the Korean food. Last time I heard, the owners were Korean, which is funny because the bibimbap and kimchi I had were bland and tasteless. Stick with the Vietnamese entrees!
