The new theater is definitely an improvement over the old one, as it is meticulously maintained rather than left to fend for itself and seems to be able to accomodate newer and better movies.

I had lunch with some friends at Rainbow Gardens and was very pleasantly surprised. Those of you who live in Milford might know that this restaurant started off strong but then went through a period where it wasn't exactly fabulous. However, the slump is over. The food was great, the service was great and the surroundings were beautiful.

I stopped in the Orange Home Depot to pick up some new shades (knowing nothing about shades) and was very impressed. The salesperson was very helpful and did not try to convince me to buy the top of the line products, saying that others would suit my needs just as well. The prices were very reasonable and I didn't feel uncomfortable being in the store at all.

It's located right in the center of town, so it's a great place to stop before doing some shopping or taking a walk around the town green.

I recently opened a secondary account at Wachovia, and although there's nothing technically wrong with them, I don't like the feel of the bank very much. They take much too long to post deposits to your account (even cash deposited into an ATM) and their telephone system is less than helpful. I don't use the account enough to make judgements on fees and the like, but I wouldn't want to have my primary account there.

I've done my banking with Webster since I first opened my own checking account, and I've been really pleased with it. The tellers are always so polite and helpful and their online banking system is superb. They also process all morning deposits before they process morning debits, so as long as you're good with your money, they will never screw you on fees.

There are enough dishes on the menu so that everyone will find something they like, and the prices are very reasonable. Reservations are optional during the week but I would recommend them on weekends.

Be warned that they are very strict on security: I adusted my shoe near the door and I think they thought I was trying to steal an umbrella! The prices are reasonable and the selection is wide enough so that you'll be able to find just about anything you're looking for. Be sure to check the display that's almost hidden just to the left of the cash registers.

Kinokuniya is, I believe, the largest Japanese bookstore in NYC, and it makes a great shopping experience for anyone who is in the market for either Japanese books or books about Japan that are in English. The staff is so friendly and nobody gave me a strange look for being a tiny little very obviously non-Japanese girl buying tons of magazines in Japanese. The prices are high but it's worth it if you're used to paying shipping from Japan to America.

We spent a day in NYC last week and this is one of the stops we made. It's such an adorable store! It's very bright and cheerful inside and the employees are so friendly and helpful. The store is clearly divided into three levels and the things that are available for the girls to do are great. My advice is to come early, especially if you plan to have your doll's hair done at the salon or eat in the restaurant.
