The new Costco in Nampa is open and I am very happy about it! We had been driving to the Costco in Boise and shopping at the very crowded store there, but it was a shopping expedition I dreaded every time. The new Costco in Nampa has, so far, been crowd-free. I'm sure it will pick up business when the new freeway interchange is complete, but for now shopping at Costco is fun again. It's even possible to browse--rather than just trying to make your way to the product you want, pick it up, and get out as soon as possible. What a delight!

I had been looking for a book on Oregon Coast agates and found the copy I wanted but it was long out of print. I stumbled across this little rock shop in Newport, Oregon and was very impressed. Although in a little space, the store was packed with wonderful resources. I ended up buying not only the book on agates but several more books great for kids. I highly recommend this store for anyone interested in rocks or fossils at the Oregon Coast.

Every time we visit the Newport Aquarium, we see more things than we saw on our last visit. We took a late vacation this year and the aquarium is particularly delightful in the fall. We really enjoyed their traveling exhibit on crabs and we enjoyed lingering and spending time at all the exhibits when there were fewer people surrounding us. Their passages of the deep tunnel surrounds visitors with a view of sharks and bat rays that I will not soon forget. I sat in a window with my kids watching seals zoom by close to us. It was an enchanted afternoon.

Whenever we visit the Oregon Coast, no trip would be complete without a visit to Newport. And yes, we do go to the Newport Aquarium. That's a given. But we also must follow it with a visit to the Rogue. I thoroughly enjoy their pizzas and sandwiches. My husband reports that their seafood is always good. And really, a big reason to go is to have some of their yummy brews on tap. They've gotten big enough now that I can usually pick up my favorites from them at The Boise Food Co-op locally, but that just doesn't compare to drinking the beer in Newport with one of their great meals. Customer service is always great, they are good with kids, and you can stroll down to the docks and sea the sea lions after dinner. It doesn't get better than that.

We recently vacationed on the Oregon Coast and stayed in Oceanside. On one of the first days there, we drove down the scenic road to Pacific City and had dinner at The Pelican Pub Brewery and Restaurant. Wow! We were traveling in the off-season and there was still a line, but it was so worth it to get in. The wait staff provided great service and they also made our kids feel comfortable and happy (so small thing). The halibut and salmon were terrific. I had gourmet pizza with a crust made from their microbrews and it was soooo good. My kids were able to order off a kids' menu or order a half-order from the grown-up menu and the food was prepared for them as real food should be (and not just pulled out and microwaved while they cooked the grown-up meals). And oh the beer. Yummy wonderful beer. Deserving of a review of their own, that beer. :-) And lest you think it's only about the beer, we traveled back to the Pelican for meals twice more on our trip and once was for breakfast. With breakfast, it's not so much about the beer and more about watching the beach. Great all-around experience.

I just placed my first order with myphotopipe.com and I was very impressed! We ordered 8x10 pictures for entering in the fair and they came back quickly and the quality was really great.
My favorite thing about this place is that I can export from iPhoto and not spend so much time using online forms where you have to upload a few photos at a time--and then start over if it times out.
I highly recommend them for quality, price, ease of ordering and customer service.

We started going to Blayney when we started caring for farm animals. We couldn't find anyone else even willing to look at our goats for a reasonable cost. The office is often very busy, the appointments booked too close together, the vets tired and the office receptionist frazzled, but these people care about animals and it shows. I really believe they are the hardest working vets in town.

This is my 3rd review of Lowe's. My first review would have probably 4 stars, for selection. My review of their online pick-up is a miserable 1 star. Their customer service is so varied. Just yesterday I talked with one guy in the garden department who was very knowledgeable and helpful and he'd get 5 stars. Another employee was so horribly bad (not even trying) that he'd get NO stars at all--and they called him to help us twice because he never seemed to be busy. Huh. Imagine that. So I'm posting a third review to change all my star-age to three. I didn't feel right about that second post shifting everything to a one.
