About the Site
Who is Judy?
Judy's Book was started in 2004 by Andy Sack and Chris DeVore. When Andy and his wife Alexa moved to Seattle, Alexa's mom -- Judy -- gave them her "little green book", full of her local shopping tips and the best service providers in Seattle. Andy and Alexa relied on Judy's book for help and advice as they settled into their new city.
When Chris and his wife Emily needed a handyman, Andy passed along a recommendation from Judy's book and an idea was born: why not create a "little green book" for busy parents everywhere? Judy's Book is the result, a place where friends and neighbors share advice and discover the best in their communities.

Is there a maximum (or minimum) length for posts or deal descriptions? How much should I write?
There currently is no maximum length for posts or deal descriptions and the minimum length is one word.
That said a good rule of thumb is that most posts or deal descriptions should be between 25 and 150 words. In general on Judy's Book, people are looking for enough information to understand your opinion about a business or the most necessary details of a deal (is there a coupon code?, does the offer have any fine print?)

Does Judy's Book edit or delete content?
Judy's Book provides an open platform for members to share information and communicate with each other. As such, we do not review or edit posts, except in cases of abuse. Members can call attention to abusive posts by clicking on the "Flag" link at the bottom of each review or deal and following the instructions provided.
Every Judy's Book member agrees to abide by the Terms of Use (TOU) when they join. If a post or deal is flagged by another user and is found to violate our TOU, it will be permanently removed. (Repeat offenders may also be permanently banned from Judy's Book).
In general (non-legal) terms, Judy's Book will remove posts which:
- Are libelous or factually inaccurate.
- Encourage or further illegal activity (including escort services)
- Use inappropriate language (i.e. swearing)
- Contain Adult content (i.e. porn)
- Are not relevant to the reviewed item (reviews only) or are deliberately posted to the wrong category (reviews or advice).
- Are meant to promote the user's own business or personal activities rather than provide information or opinion (i.e. spam).

Is it possible to get my basic information listed for free?
We did not want to block out places that consumers are interested in, so we allow new listings to be created by a customer submitting a review. This allows our consumers to give feedback and discover great places while allowing a business to list basic information (name, address, phone, URL, and Google street view) for free, including their reviews from Judy's Book and our partner sites.
If one of our upgrade options isn't feasible for your business, the way to get listed on Judy's Book is to ask one of your customers to write a review. As part of the review submission process they will be able to add your basic business information if it’s not already in Judy's Book.

Can businesses write reviews from customer testimonials?
To ensure integrity of reviews we don't allow this. Writing reviews on your own business or hiring a 3rd party has backfired on many business owners in today's social media culture and is unethical. We filter out or remove spam, here's more info on fake reviews. It's much better to ask customers to go to Judy's Book and post their own review. Our upgraded accounts come with a QR decal mapped to your listing that allows a customer to write a review in as little as 1 minute through their mobile device.

I've got an existing listing but it is not claimed, how do I update my basic information?
You can e-mail us at info@judysbookteam.com, be sure to include the URL of your listing, the item you wish to change and the update.

Someone wrote a bad review on my business, what can I and should I do?
Realize even great businesses will have some unsatisfied customers. The best way to improve your reviews is to improve your service or product. If you feel the review is unfair, view our terms of service to find out if it is in violation, then report it via the report link next to the review. One of our agents will manually check the content. Another option that many find useful is to engage the user by responding to the review. Read this blog post for tips on how and why to respond to reviews

If you haven't received an e-mail from bizsup@judysbookteam.com, check your spam folder.
