When I first arrived at Ni Hoowa Supermarket, I noticed that the store lacked customers at a time when they should be crowded with them. I also noticed that it's a family run business and that the entire family lounge around there, which made my shopping experience a bit uneasy.
I kept walking around the store and asking myself, "This is it?" and "That's all they have?" The selection were TERRIBLE! They barely had any fruits or vegetables, and the ones that they did have were in boxes. Not only were the selection terrible but the prices were through the roof! Now, I don't expect an Asian grocery store in Buffalo to have prices comparable to California but then again, I don't expect them to be exponentially higher than the local grocery stores in the region either. To put it into perspective, I spent $25 on groceries that would have probably cost me a little over $10 in Southern California.

Good: Even in this tough economy, America's Tire/Discount Tire still continues to focus on customer service. If you have a flat tire, they will fix it at no charge regardless of whether you purchased the tires from them or not.. Bad: I recall them having a wider variety of tires available for my car but when I went in to get a tire replaced, I was only offered the more expensive option. It's a shame because they're competing directly with Costco, located within the same plaza, for tire business and having a wider selection would have helped in my case.. Improvements: Offer a wider variety of tires to all their customers, regardless of the type of car that the customer is currently driving or the type of tire that the car currently has on it..

Are you sick and tired of sleazy auto mechanics who try to either overcharge you or push unnecessary work on you whenever you bring your car in? What about the gratuitous wait time whenever the car is brought in (i.e. waiting 3 hours for an oil change at the dealership)? It can be maddening when it comes to finding the right mechanic but there is a solution. It's Don Angel Autobody & Repair Center located in Montclair, CA! Whether it's minor as a flat tire or major as a transmission problem, Mr. Kim and his mechanics can fix it all. Mr. Kim will never overcharge you for parts and services nor will he push for unnecessary work to be done on the car.
Worried about the wait time? Pass the time by watching the koi swim around or the turtles resting about. What about those jobs that require several days? Not to worry, Don Angel conveniently has their own rental cars at rock bottom prices. Mr. Kim does a lot of the work himself so your car will be returned to you ASAP!
Still not convinced? While Mr. Kim's auto repair shop is currently located in Montclair, Mr. Kim once ran his business from Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, he built a large customer base and those loyal customers continue to seek him out at his Montclair location. They drive over 30 minutes just to get their cars worked on by Mr. Kim because honest mechanics are hard to find at Don Angel, customers always come first.
Go there and find out yourself. I'm a relatively new customer but I cannot imagine going anywhere else to get my car serviced, other than Don Angel Autobody & Repair Center.

Ever visit your dentist for a routine check-up or for your cleaning and find yourself paying $$$ out of your own pocket because your insurance company won't cover the bill 100%? Fed up with having to pay the steep deductible each year for a single cavity? Are fillings cutting into your budget? If so, look no further than Santa Ana Dental Group! I found them through a co-worker who has been going to them for years. I was sick and tired of having to pay the full deductible and the cost of the x-rays every time I went to the dentist. Santa Ana Dental Group will not charge you a dime, even if your insurance company doesn't cover 100% of the work! If you're getting a root canal or something major, Santa Ana Dental Group will charge you for it but it won't be any more than what other dentist will charge you. The only downside of Santa Ana Dental Group is that since they don't charge their patients money for work done on them, they're VERY popular and expect to wait up to 2 hours before getting called in. Bring a book and arrive early!

Maruichi is located on Castro Street in Downtown Mountain View and serves ramen either by itself or as a combo (with potstickers and sushi). The service wasn't half bad but then again, the place was more than half empty since it was a weekday. Maruichi isn't your typical Japanese restaurant that specializes in sushi that charges you an arm and a leg for dining there. While you'll most likely find the food there affordable, their menu is simple and limited with only few choices to choose from. If you want variety and want to dine out at a fancy restaurant, Maruichi isn't the place for you.

I've been to many Chinese restaurants and Hunan Chili Restaurant ranks far below any sit-down Chinese restaurants that I've ever visited. My friend ordered string beans and I ordered mu-shu chicken. The string beans were oily and salty while the mu-shu chicken tasted plain and was nothing special. In addition, they charged us $1.90 for rice! Most Thai restaurants charge $1.00 for rice but I rarely ever see Chinese restaurants charging money for rice when you order an entree. I thought it was ridiculous and I would never go there again.

I can't believe the people working at the Porridge House. Not only were they rude but they also gave us small portions and charged us full price for the dishes. As if that wasn't bad enough, the waitress told us to put the tip on the table after she came back with our change. LIKE THEY DESERVED TIP!!! To top it off, the food wasn't even that good. I had a feeling they were trying to save the food so that they could serve it the next day, instead of throwing it out and making a new batch like other restaurants do.
I've never endured so much rudeness from one restaurant EVER. I didn't leave much tip (less than 10%) and they didn't look too happy. They should be glad we didn't just walk out after collecting our change!

One thing great about HK Tofu & Grill is that it is open until 11pm. Other than that, I found the food here to be overpriced and so-so, at best. I ordered seafood noodles and it didn't taste any better than ones that I can make myself and certain side dishes 'ran out' because we came too late. This place is more suited for those who want to get together and eat/drink with buddies late into the night when all other restaurants are closed. Maybe the soft tofu here is good but I didn't want to stick around to find out.
Also, if you go late, don't expect to get good service as I had to walk up to the counter myself to ask for more side dishes.

Johnny Carino's is no different than any other Italian restaurants. They served similar dishes and served bread and soup/salad before the meal. I ate here with my family on Christmas Eve so naturally, this place was short-handed. We finished ordering and while everyone got their dishes, I was still waiting for mine. The waittress came by several times to reassure me that my dish was on its way and after everyone was nearly finished, my dish finally came. Well, I was very unhappy but it was Christmas Eve, afterall. The restaurant manager stopped by our table to inform us that my plate was on the house and apologized for the delay. Consequently, that brightened the mood of the night and we went on to enjoy the rest of our dinner. I would say the food there is quite good as I went in with very little expectations.

I normally go to Sumo in Irvine but with a recommendation from a friend, I decided to try this location out to compare the two buffet restaurants. I must admit, this restaurant is much cleaner and far less crowded. There were many similarities between the two but this place had lobster and they're brought to each table (1 per person) by the waittresses. My complaint about this location is that the sashimi kept running out and the workers there were VERY SLOW in cutting the meat. In addition, the sashimi were all frozen and we had to individually thaw them on our plates before eating them. Other than that, I like this place much better. We even got a weekend discount on our total bill, which we found to be unusual but who are we to complain? :-)
