Always busy and inconvenient to park unless you're already shopping for the day - in which case, you probably aren't in the mood for a wait for food. The cheesecake is in fact incredible, but I just hop over to the Barnes and Noble about 100 yards away and enjoy the Cheescake Factory cheesecake in the cafe - delivered fresh from the nearby location. There are lots of restaurants on down Glenwood which are much classier - and perhaps even less expensive - and more memorable for an evening out.

Ichiban is Salisbury's first (and only) hibachi steakhouse where your food is cooked in front of you, performance style. The menu at night is quite pricey; it's much more reasonable during lunch hours (though you don't get soup). The food, service, and show are excellent, though if you have a picky eater in the crowd you'll want to peruse the menu ahead of time. We go here only on special occassions and suffice with Tokyo Express (same food without the show) the rest of the time.

Tokyo Express is one of my favorite restaurants in Salisbury; it opened when I was in high school and I often go back when visiting home. You order at the counter then sit down; they bring your food and drink refills to the table for you. The portions are enormous; it's hard to finish a full plate. I'm a big fan of the hibachi chicken with lots of the yummy shrimp sauce.

Romano's is Rockwell's first Italian restaurant. Every time I've been there, the food has been consistently good - I'm especially a fan of the gyro, something I never imagined I'd be able to get at a restaurant in Rockwell. The prices seem a little high on the sandwiches, but overall, it's a decent value for your money.

For some reason or another, the restaurant recently changed it's name to Johnny's, but it's the same food. I'm a very big fan of the bbq chicken special - I think it's only on Wednesdays or Saturdays, though. All the food is good, but I recently discovered how amazing breakfasts there were. It's a ton of food and an excellent deal - very cheap! I especially love the pancakes. Whenever I'm in town, breakfast with Dad at Johnny's is a must.

There are two Dairy Queens in Salisbury. When it's too chilly to sit outside and enjoy your cone at the other one, I always head to this one by the Salisbury Mall. The seating area is adequate with plastic booths, and there's always fun DQ merchandise for sale here. One downside is that this location (like some other Dairy Queens) all smell like bleach, slightly. However, that's more than made up for by the fact they have specials at this one. I highly recommend the quarts to go, if they're available. The soft-serve stays surprisingly soft even after it's at home.

Bojangles is one of the most popular restuarants near NC State - a veritable institution of sorts. While not the cheapest restaurant on Western Blvd, the meals are filling, they serve biscuits all day, and most meals come with a free sweet tea (which could probably also be used as syrup, but that makes it all the more addictive). If you're from the western part of the state, the fact that you leave your trash on the table will strike you as odd. During tailgating season, you can call your very large orders in ahead of time (great for groups of fifty) or you can pull up to the side at the special "tailgate specials to go" truck.

Mission Valley Cinemas is probably my last choice of cinemas in the area. It's relatively dirty and, though they offer a student discount ($4.50 tickets), the $1.50 Blue Ridge Cinema is much nicer. They do offer beer on tap and will let you bring in drinks from Cup of Joe next door. Really, the only reason to go to this theatre is if you live on campus and don't have a car and you *have* to see a particular movie first run. Otherwise, spend the extra dollar or two to go to Crossroads, or just wait til it hits the Campus Cinema or Blue Ridge.

The RBC Center is a relatively new and very nice arena for college basketball, hockey, and concerts/special events. There are a few things that can make your visit much nicer - first, you can park for FREE at the fairgrounds across the street from Carter-Finely stadium. Paying $7 to park just isn't worth it to me - I gladly walk the 1/2 mile. Beware that on the third story the toilets won't flush during high usage times (halftime, intermissions, etc). Finally, be *really really careful* with the sinks - sometimes they run a little hot. And very finally - there is a metal detector going in. Leave your pocketknives at home (and be prepared to laugh at all the men who are trying to dig up mulch where they buried their pocketknives before the game when they didn't want to go back to the car).
