So, if you plan on going here...know that its loud, almost too loud and a bit crazy. It has quite the reputation around here, especially for local high schools and prom night. Every employee there is dressed as a different character and I think they have a contest on who can be louder and more obnoxious. While I realize that is the point of the restaurant and what makes it famous, I just think its important for potential customers to know what they are getting into. I suppose I am getting old, but I found it to be too much. If I ever go there again, it would be with my kids to see them have fun. But for me, not my favorite place. Oh and the food...its pretty good. Burgers, steaks, chicken...that type of food.

Well, I guess it depends on which way you look at it, but I like this place and usually find great things here. There are times when some of the prices have been a bit over the top. But more recently, I feel their prices are lower each time I go and I have fun looking around. This is definitely one of those stores where you have to go quite frequently in order to find something worth talking about.

There used to be a Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt nearby to where I live and everyone I knew went there all the time. But for some reason, it closed down and so now, the only time I get to have it is when I visit my sisters in San Clemente or if I head over to Brea. There was a point in time when you could find frozen yogurt shops on practically any street...not so around here anymore. So people really flock to Golden Spoon now. What can I say about it? Its awesome. Delicious yogurt and yummy toppings. And I just found out they are opening one in Whittier! YAY!

I have really had a hard time around here finding a good bakery. There are a couple here and there, but I have been disappointed when I went in. Not that they weren't any good, but each specializes in items from other countries. Though most of my family loves the flaky pastries and thick cake breads that these bakeries carry, its just not what I was looking for. I just wanted a yummy, but cookie cutter bakery....with breads, cookies, cakes, etc. Panera's is a good mix between bakery and restaurant. Their menu ranges from breads and bagels to cookies and scones to soups and sandwiches. They are all delicious. The breads are made from scratch and fresh. The two locations nearest to me and both new and so the customer service so far, has been great. Its also very clean and kept very nice.

Corona del Mar is typically thought of as a high class area. Its pretty expensive to live in this area and is among the many upper class beach cities in South Orange County. So when one hears of "Little Corona del Mar", as far as the beach is concerned, you would think this is going to be a nice area of beach. Boy was I wrong. Of course, its not the beaches fault. Nor the people who live around this area. Its the visitors and their disgusting lack of pride in their surroundings. My cousin and I took our kids to this part of the beach, which is really a little cove, surrounded by cliffs. It has the potential to be a fun little place, especially for younger kids. The cliffs form little caves, fun for the kids to play in and the waves are practically non existent. The water rolls in as tiny splashes, as opposed to big crashing waves. However, there were piles of trash everywhere. The people who were visiting were just throwing anything and everything that they were finished with onto the sand and leaving it there. The trash was even out in the water and collecting at the waters edge. It was horrible. Besides us, nobody seemed the least bit phased by it. The little caves had people grouped in there, partying, and piling their trash up. The people left, the trash stayed. I was so sickened. Is this the norm now? Is this the way people are? They don't deserve to use our beaches, if so. I wish that a litter ordinance would be enforced. It was a disgrace. I am sure their homes weren't much better than how they left these beaches. We later went over to another beach, to walk on the pier and found that the area surrounding of beach surrounding the pier was covered in trash as well. It was shameful.

Tortilla Flats has awesome Mexican food. The ambiance is great, though the lighting at night is a bit too dim for me. The waiters were friendly, the place is loud, and the food is really great. My brother in law had the Ceviche, which seemed overpriced for what it was, but other than that, it was great. They were hosting a wedding at the time, they also cater and have a bar area. They have great "Taco Tuesdays"...tacos for only 50 cents!

Rubys is great. Food is good, but overpriced. But I love the 50s diner theme and here in Balboa, its at the end of the pier. You can even sit on top of the restaurant, which is great. The service was friendly. Nice experience. What WASNT nice, was that they have NO restroom. And when you have a little one who is potty training and has to go potty...that doesnt work out too well. After begging the manager to let her run the little one into the restroom that is for employees only, my cousin had to run her little girl all the way to the start of the pier. That is not a quick run. I dont think I will sit down and eat here again. They do offer a pickup window. I would take that option next time.

This store is absolutely darling! Especially if you appreciate fashions from the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s....this store is for you. Its located in a beautiful shopping center, Plaza Vista del Lago, overlooking Lake Mission Viejo. The employees are all very nice and they enjoy dressing in the styles they sell. They have fun special events, such as one I went to this past weekend where Dita Von Teese was on hand to sign her amazing book. This event was so fun...many people were dressed in 40s and 50s attire and brought their wonderful vintage cars...it was a great time. But the merchandise they sell is what makes them spectacular. You must go and visit them!

I finally broke down and enrolled my son in Gymboree, back in March. Its a bit pricey, but I wanted to get him involved in something with other kids. (He turned 3 in June). It cost $215 to sign up for 3 months of classes, which is one hour long class per week, plus on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings, you can go in for free time, where the kids can play on the equipment and burn some energy. The class has a instructor (who I really liked) who reads the kids a book and leads them in different play time activites, though the parents must be next to their child the entire time (which starts feeling like hovering...you are in a relatively small room and to have to stand next to your child continually gets weird). Anyway, it was fun while it lasted, our class is up soon and thats okay. I wont re enroll him because we are both just kind of done with it. I think by age 3, its kind of young for the kids. So I am now enrolling him in preschool instead.

The Regal Cinema in La Habra has a great summertime program for families or adults who enjoy kids movies. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, at 10am, they open one theatre for free and show a movie, albeit an older release. But for parents looking to entertain their kids and to beat the heat for a bit, this is a great offer. Yesterday, I took my three year old to see Robots. This was only the second time I have ever taken him to the movies, so he loved it. I am hoping by taking him to these free movie events, that he will get used to sitting and watching an entire movie and then I can start taking him to new releases, like Cars. I am always afraid that 30 minutes into it, he will want to leave. Anyway, check your local theatre to see if they offer this program. I found it online also.
