this is the best place to go on an afternoon to let the kids explore more about science. there is always a special exhibition at the science station that is sure to teach your child something new and interesting that they didnt know before. this place not only tells you how it happens but actually shows you how it happens. the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the displays and can help answer the kids questions.

Like many others have said the Hungry Hobo is a great place to take the family with a clean dining area and friendly staff.
They realize there are many places you could take your family to eat and they work hard to earn your business with fresh food served in plentiful portions.
I especially enjoy the fresh bread and the way they pile on the meat.
The Hungry Hobo is run by a nice local family that is community friendly, so it is a pleasure to patronize
their business. I am so hungry for the Hobo now I must go! Thanks Hobo!

the play station is a excellent place to take your children to have fun. where kids can you their imagination . they have a 3 level play center with balls, slides an dropes.kids can increase their physical fitness. they serve food such as pizza, sandwiches, appetizers.you can bring a big group for birthdays as well. this is a very fun place to spend a couple of hours with your child.

The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is housed in a really neat looking building on 3rd Ave SE. It is a nice museum considering the size of Cedar Rapids. The parking lot is located behind the museum on 2nd Ave Se.
Right now, the Grant Wood display is going on. It is really a great event! Not to be missed! My kids even enjoyed it though I think that my daughter liked the gift shop best.

Last year, my son got some money for his birthday and he decided that he wanted some fish. We'd never had fish before, so we bought two betas from Wal-Mart. After a few days, one died. We bought a replacement and after a few months of those doing well, we decided to buy a ten gallon tank. We went to Pet's Playhouse where we ran into the most friendly and knowledgeable staff. Now, I am of the belief that a person who is working in an "industry" ought to know what they're talking about, but after visiting almost every store in this town that sold fish, I found them to REALLY know what they were talking about. Every staff member was more than helpful and willing to take the time to talk to me about my tanks and how I should get them established. 4 fish tanks later, they are my one stop place for all things fish! They also have a small collection of dog stuff, birds and accessories as well as gerbils and other such small rodents. Not my bag, but there none the less. I think there are two locations, but I prefer the one on Johnson Ave.

This place has soo many neat things to see. I will stop here after work just to walk arouind and see what they have. There are a lot of plants and things that I didn't know existed but are soo beautiful. The staff is also very knowing. I've only bought a few things from here but the employees always made sure I walked away with a full understanding of how to care for them!

I remember coming here as a little kid. I loved it - what hyperactive 8 year old can resist 3 stories of tunnels, slides, ball pits, and more?
Some of my best memories were birthday parties and field trips to The Play Station. It's a great place to bring the kids - they get exercise and have a lot of fun, while the parents can relax and watch!
I highly recommend The Play Station - it's a great idea that needs to catch on nationwide!

Just thinking about this store makes me hungry! They are located in bottom level of Lindale Mall on 1st Ave NE. Wondefful homemade chocolates! My favorite is the chocolate turtles. It is one of their best sellers. Lots of different candies to choose from. They even have sugar free candy but I personally have never tried those. I prefer the real chocolate! P.S. Get the chocolate covered pretzels, very cheap and very good!

What a cozy place to eat. This is a great restaurant to go with friends, family, kids, business associates, and anyone else you can think of. The prices are great.
When you go in and are seated they bring out a basket of hot tortilla chips along with their salsa. Be warned, you may want to ask for some ice water right away, well at least for those of you like me that are accustomed to hot salsa. You can also request to get their Cheese Sauce to dip the chips in, but it does cost $2.50 for it. But SO WORTH IT! I love the cheese sauce, it is to die for. The food is always served hot and fresh. I ordered a chimichanga and LOVED it! For kids meals they have the normal tacos/burritos and also burgers or chicken strips, which is good as some children won't eat mexican food.
I highly recommend El Rancho Mexican Restaurant! I am positive you will leave feeling VERY full! Make sure you try their bean (refried beans with white cheese melted), it is TERRIFIC!

What more could you ask for in life? A good book, a comfy couch and a hot latte. I am talking about Barnes & Noble of course. There are few stores that I can convince my husband to accompany me to, but this one never needs coercing.
What I love most about this store is being able to take my time and browse. I never get a dirty look from a salesperson who is trying to make me leave, I never get pestered a hundred times from "helpful" salespeople asking me if I'm finding everything ok. I can go in, find what I'm looking for and leave, or I can go in without a clue what I am looking for and thoroughly enjoy myself. They have great coffee, good nibbles and the ambience of pure relaxation.
I feel at ease letting my son peruse the kids section knowing there's plenty of things there to occupy him. We can look at reading material as well as play things for him and he is very seldom bored. My huband runs amok in the magazine department and can kill a good hour looking over every topic from cars to sports to video games.
If you want a relaxing day/night out, give Barnes& Noble a try.
