While not as truly amazing as the Inn at Langley (they belong to the same group), this is a good place for a getaway. Its on San Juan Island, so has all the charm, but it is really a more urban setting. It is very compact and has a decent restaurant, but what sets it apart are the great rooms and the incredible views. Terrific and comfortable is what I'd call it.
The restaurant is good, but not great, but it is one of the most comfortable places to stay., The best thing is that you can take the passenger ferry and not have to take a car. On the really busy weekends in the summer that's a huge plus where the car wait can be hours.
It really is a 3 1/2 stars as a retreat, but let's give it 4.

Actually the way to see it is to book brunch at the SkyCity (see the other review). This is the rotating restaurant. That is more expensive, but actually the food ain't half bad and it really does rotate with the benefit of a tiny 10 horsepower motor.

Well, there is really a best running shoe for everyone. I'm no expert, but depending on whether you need lots of support, whether you pronate (think cowboy legs out) or supinate (think duck feet), it will depend.
For years, I had a pronation problem and then my knees kind of gave up. But for me anyway, I've never got back into it. Lately though, I happened to get a pair of Nike Free 4.0 (http://www.nike.com/nikefree/). I have to say I'm impressed. Was down at Nike in Beaverton (if you ever get a chance to go there by the way, literaly run, don't walk, it is an amazing place).
Anyway, these shoes are designed to feel like you aren't wearing anything. They are light a flexible and fun to run (http://www.nike.com/nikefree/). They aren't super ,super expensive at $85 list and I"m sure less online.
I myself have used the running 4.0 and the trail 5.0s, they are all amazingly great.

This is one of Grace's favorite places to hang out. It isn't spectacularly big and you have to ignore the big stains on the floor and so forth, but because it is really just about the northwest, it is a fine place to go.
What makes it super great is the location on the waterfront. The ideal day we've found is to head over there early, then over to Steamers for fish and chips (how ironic!), then there is a merry-go-round in the pier immediately to the south through the waterfront park. Play a few games of ball, then hitch a ride on the trolley (when it reopens!) and you have a great afternoon.
Or head up to the Pike's Place market.
This aquarium can't hold a candle to a true world-class site like the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but it is great nonetheless. The best thing that I like is the part that explains the life cycle of the Salmon and they even have their own hatchery. The second best are the sea dragons. They are pretty amazing.

I did a quick check against retail jobs in Seattle and came up with a 1,000 or so in Seattle itself.
If you are not going to have a car, recommend that you find an apartment near the downtown core. There are more jobs there and transportation is less of an issue. Capital Hill is a good spot as is Queen Anne. The rents can be high though. There is also something called Flex Car in town that let's you "rent" a car for an hour if you need to do something, so you can take the bus in (the north-south bus routes are good, east-west is harder) and then if your job requires you to go somewhere you can have a car for a little bit. It sure ain't NYC though in terms of public transit.
Finally, you might think about checking out some of the job reentry groups. There are also quite a few groups that can help if it is the first time in the job market. I've heard good things about http://www.seattlejobsinitiative.com/

She hasn't been back since, so I'm not sure if she is a life long convert, but an accessible opera like this makes sense (as opposed to 20 hours of the Ring :-)

Well, it probably isn't perfect for everyone, but it is for us. It is a terrific family place with friendly staff. Nishino's down the street is a real five star place, but this place wins because it isn't crowded, the sushi is very good. The hamachi is really great and try the rainbow roll.
But, the best part is that folks who don't just like Sushi have options. The Udon noodles are particularly good and the tempura is fine. My wife loves the green beans and the walnut shrimp we had the other day was quite authentic.
So as a classic fusion place it is great. Also, when we get there early it is never crowded. Give it a try for a good neighborhood place.
Heck, if that ain't enough, Bill Gates gets there and you can see that in the front stand. A nice plate he signed for this family owned business.

Well, on the going deaf part, I think the main thing is don't turn your iPod up to deafening levels. Seriously, its really about not blasting them. The easiest way to do this is to watch and make sure you don't turn it up too high *and* to get headphones that deaden the sound.
Etymotic at http://etymotic.com is a little bit of a niche brand, but audiophiles swear by it. There is a great site called http://headroom.com that explains all this. YOu can get these by the way at http://discountheadphones.com.
The 6i are expensive at about $100, but they are amazing in terms of sound quality. If you really go crazy, the $200 Etymotic 4's have beat $20,000 speakers in blind hearing tests.
I actually got both of these and can say folks are usually incredibly amazed. Why is this? Well, Etymotic is actually a hearing aid company, so the actual speakers fit inside your ears. Makes them phenomenal for working out at the gym or on an airplane. They reduce the noise by 20dB (Ask Jeff what that means, but it is essentailly 99% quiet). And they are super tiny as well and not bulky like the big Bose ones.

If you've got a car that you just love or better yet some insurance money :-) no one does it better than these folks. We've been using them for ten years now across a variety of "incidents" involving BMWs, Volvos, Acuras so they do many models.
They are very meticulous and you can really never tell that theres been a scratch on the car. What I love about them is they'll go through the car and really tell you what doesn't need to happen and what does and how to get your baby back to good as new.
