Magnusson Park in the Sandpoint area used to be a navy base. It now has a playground for kids, buildings (that were hangars) now used for all sorts of events and a terrific trail and beach for dogs off-leash. Especially hopping on the weekends, you see every sort of breed and their assorted owners and everyone is enjoying themselves! There is a separate area for small dogs so they don't get too bullied by the Newfies.

We have been taking our dogs to Eastlake Vets for over 15 years. Dr. Anderson is my absolute favorite, but the other vet there is great, too. They have always taken great care of our dogs, and when the time came for one of our dogs to go, they were incredibly kind and helpful. We even got a card from them later. It was a rough time for our whole family, but Dr. Anderson and his assistants were wonderful.

I needed a cut and could not afford dear Graham at 7 (sorry Graham). I picked Greg at Margi & David because of Renee's review: she suggested Greg as a good stylist for curly hair. Yes, indeed, he is! He listened and I really like the cut.
On the down side, they kept me waiting with no explanation and did not offer the chance to change out of shirt and into robe. These negatives are mild, as I said, but at $60+/haircut, I expect a bit more professionalism.
The stars are for the cut, then, and less for the experience.

That said, they are indeed a down-to-earth salon with reasonable prices. My haircut was disappointing - I really don't think the stylist had a clue how to cut my type of hair. (I was refered to her by the salon as THE one to see if you have curly hair.)

Habitude seems to be more attitude than creating a customer-oriented experience. The stylists rush through haircuts and mine even had two customers at one time, going back and forth between us. She may have thought that was alright but I did not - not for what they charge.
I have moved on.

Great cut from a stylist that listens and has good ideas!
So, based on Jill's reco here on JB I got an appt. with Eric at his salon, Sarantos. I have curly hair, and the last cut, which was so-so, was losing it. Whatever "it" is.

So, based on Jill's reco here on JB I got an appt. with Eric at his salon, Sarantos. I have curly hair, and the last cut, which was so-so, was losing it. Whatever "it" is.
Anyway, Eric listened, consulted and suggested a couple things to bring the 'do back into shape. He also had some ideas for something more drastic next time (it was a grey day and I was not exuding "let's chop it all off" vibes).
Cut is great, salon is nice, doggie is cute and friendly, and parking is free. Salon does NOT have the pretentious attitude or blaring music that can be found elsewhere. Oh, and no snotty receptionists to deal with either.
Location is at 96th and Roosevelt in Mapleleaf neighborhood. Phone number is: (206) 523-9266.

First time with Graham and Seven - he spent time talking with me and studying my crazy-curly hair and made SURE we were in agreement as to the style. This is because he was cutting 4+ inches off.
Graham did a superb job cutting my difficult hair. He has so much experience in the industry I am confident he could work wonders on any type of hair. On top of that he is a delight to chat with and TOO tactful to mention my grays!!!

Magus Books: an old favorite
There are probably used bookstores that have lower prices out there. But, I like Magus for it's location and for it's good selection of used kids' books. Plus, it is near some good pho restaurants!

It IS overwhelming to start a business. I used to be a consultant in this area, and I understand there is plenty to do! You will find the SBA, Small Business Administration ( http://www.SBA.gov/ ), to be an excellent resource to help you get started.
I suggest you start with research: you can do plenty of this for FREE online. Google the heck out of your business idea and every derivation of it. You need to know if anyone else out there is doing it, how they are doing it, and if there is room for one more business to do it to.
Then form a business plan. This will include how you will finance the project, how you will market your business, how you will manage pricing, inventory, distribution, how you will handle the accounting, etc. The SBA has a template for this plan so you can't possibly forget anything. Trust me, all this planning will pay off.
And, as another poster mentioned, you will need to determine who you need on your team, or more accurately, what forms of expertise you do NOT have that you will need to hire.
Good luck and have fun with it!!!
