Or better yet, new home, new hair... I've asked a few of the local ladies where to go for a decent trim and several of them said that the local JC Penney has a good beauty salon. So I chanced it and went and had a trim - and was super happy with the result. Mr. L who took care of me truly listened to what I wanted and he did a great job. He also suggested some products for my hair, but did not push the sale at any moment - highly appreciated. And the price was great - way less than I anticipated.
I'll be back for sure - and next time I might go for something just slightly more drastic...

Yes, I have to admit that I am an avid Tupperware fan. Many years ago my sister put herself through college selling Tupperware and I - being the good older sister that I am - must have been her best customer. But I've been a fan ever since. I have never bought a bad Tupperware container and some of mine are now over 20 years old and still in perfect condition.
They come up with all kinds of little gadgets, gizmos and such as well, and those are fine - but the old classics are the best. And just because an item is called - for instance - a shaker - it does not mean that you could not put pickles in it. This is something my sister told me a long time ago and I've headed her advice - my Tupperware gets tons of use!

Recently I received some Storyville coffee to try and I have to agree that their coffee does taste fresh and has absolutely no unpleasant aftertaste. They only offer two kinds - Prologue and Epilogue, with Epilogue being the decaf version. While I absolutely loved the DVD and booklet that came with the first order, I think that quite a few people might get turned off by their assumption that theirs is the only coffee worth drinking. Since they are not the only company offering freshly roasted coffee, that claim is just a tad presumptuous. And not everybody owns a French press either ;-)
I made coffee both with the French Press and a drip coffeemaker and even with an espresso pot and every time the process resulted in a smooth, nicely balanced cup of coffee, if just a tad too weak for my liking when I followed their directions.
While I find their coffee worth a try, Boca Java remains my favorite.

If you need to get in shape or just want to move a little bit - while in a safe and women-friendly environment - it does not get much better than Curves. Curves for Women is an international chain with numerous locations and chances are that you will find one wherever you find yourself at the moment. Once you belong to any of the Curves gyms, you can ask for a travel pass (which is valid for a month) and you an go and exercise wherever there is another Curves gym. This is a feature I use very often.
The workout lasts a good half-hour if you do it right - first a couple of circuits on the machines (two to three, depending on number of the machines in the gym...) and then stretching exercises (which feel really, really good). Since the machines work on a hydraulics basis, they work you as hard as you work them and no adjustments are necessary.
The local Curves gym here in Natchez is ultra clean and both Miss K and Miss A are delightful.

When I have to have fast food, there is no doubt in my mind where I'll head - straight to Subway. Their sandwiches, wraps and salads are always fresh, always delicious and you can customize them to the max. Lately they have been toasting them as well and that is really, really nice.
The Natchez location offers ample parking and easy access. The inside is clean and orderly. Their have this great Sunday special - 2 foot-long regular subs for $7. Make yourself a pitcher of lemonade and you have a great Sunday brunch for little money.

Most of the people seem to take their goodies on the go, but we sat down at one of the small tables and took our time. Our waitress took great care of us and chatted with us pleasantly. She kept our coffee cups filled with fresh coffee. The omelet was real tasty and the breads fresh and delicious.
You can even pick up some small souvenirs while having breakfast!

If you want quality furniture or a mattress and unbeatable service, there is no need to look further than Bernie Pyron's store on Franklin.
They carry an amazing selection of truly nice pieces and best of all, they will advise, but not pressure you. Most of the furniture is geared more towards the traditional taste, but I guess that's what goes best with the stately Natchez homes.
As far as the delivery - no need to worry. They will deliver when they've promised to and the delivery person that brought our mattress was just delightful - very pleasant and polite.
And to top all of that - a week after the purchase we received a nice letter in the mail from Pyron's, thanking us for the purchase. How's that for real customer service?
Trust me, we will be back!

The food at the Pig Out is yummy, there is no question about that. All of their barbecued items are really tasty. The ribs are fall-of- the-bone tender. The pulled pork is well seasoned. The coleslaw and the potato salad could be a meal in itself.
But - the prices are slightly high for the amount that you get and the atmosphere reminds you of a school cafeteria ;-)
True, the walls are full of interesting items, but there is no real warmth and one does not feel like lingering. Well, maybe that's the idea...
In any case, they offer take-out, which just might be the best way to enjoy their food.

This is a true Southern restaurant - everything from the menu to the staff is warm and entertaining.
The menu might seem a bit limited when you first look at it, but wait till you have a taste! Do yourself a favor and start with a pot of greens - they are unbelievably yummy. The entrées are served with a pot (literally!) of coleslaw, pickled onions, pan baked cornbread (served in a cast iron pan and if you are lucky, your waitress will flip it for you!) and your choice of potato. The baked sweet potato is out of this world.
Make sure to try their fried catfish, but all the other entrées are great as well.
The atmosphere is really relaxed and really fun. And when you are done, walk to the back of the restaurant and enjoy a gorgeous view of Mississippi river.
