I gave up on finding a great, experienced waxing place after trying so many different places, almost all of which charged ridiculously compared to the mainland. Then my friend from LA, who was only here for one summer, recommended me this place.
It's been almost two years since I moved to Hawaii, which means no periodical Brazilian wax for me for two years. Even though it was the first time in a long while, she made sure I felt comfortable and that wouldn't feel much pain. I WAS nervous about the pain because I have bad experiences with waxing here in Hawaii. She was sooo good... AND quick! (I didnt even have half an hour for my parking meter, but she finished it on time! )
The price was a little higher than expected, but that's only because it was the first time in a long while as I mentioned before. She mentioned that she charges her clients fairly depending on the "workload." To me, that sounds fair.
Pros: painless, quick, friendly
Cons: no sign outside

Paul Brown is very reputatable and keeps their employees top notch. I heard they train their employees for 1-2 years before letting them cut and color hair by themselves so that says a lot about their company's main concerns. The price is probably one of the highest on the island but when you get a haircut or color your hair there, people can totally tell the difference that you got it done "professionally."

Liliha Bakery celebrates its, what, 55th anniversary this year? This is definitely an old time local-kine bakery and coffee shop that remains as ever popular and relevant today. I love the patisseries and bakeries that have opened up in and around Honolulu in recent years, but Liliha Bakery is still one of my favorites.
I think the attraction is definitely their coco puffs (the cream puffs are also nice). I’m not kidding when I say the bakery probably sells thousands of these each day. They’re always busy, so expect a wait. But it’s well worth it if you have the patience. If you’re there for the puffs, and you don’t want to wait in line, keep it short by grabbing a prepackaged box of coco puffs in their freezer. I also love their cinnamon twists, pies (custard, but pumpkin during the holidays), and cakes (mmm … chantilly). If you’re feeling daring, dabble with their haupia filled malasadas. Their donuts might not have the melt-in-your-mouth texture of Krispy Kreme, but these are good ol’ style donuts.
I also must recommend the coffee shop. They must have only about a dozen, or so, seats, and like the bakery there’s likely to be a line, but the fresh from the grill and buttery goodness of their menu is worth the wait. Your food is cooked in front of you on their grills. I love their Hamburger Steak, as well as their Country Style eggs scramble and their Steak and Eggs. The pancakes are also huge and delectable. My girlfriend loves their Grilled Cheese Sandwich. And most items on the menu come with a buttery dinner roll with jelly (whatever that stuff is, I want to take it home with me but its not for sale). I swear, I think their secret is the butter.
When I was younger, I’d go to Liliha Bakery’s coffee shop after a night out for a meal to wind down. Here’s where the open 24-hours is really convenient (with the exception of Mondays). But the shop definitely attracts a local crowd and the old timers are great to talk story with while you’re enjoying your food.

Leonards is definitely a local favorite! Their malasadas are no doubt the best on the island, especially their custard filled ones. When its nice and warm, it's so delicious.
Leonards has recently put up a nice new sign and it looks pretty cool. It has a retro look to it. Inside, however, it is still a little run down. For the number of clients they get, I assume they have enough money to renovate the whole bakery but I think they want to keep the homey look.

Heaven on EArth offers everything a girl needs to feel and look like a princess.
Facials, haircare, nails, waxing....I don't think that there is anything they DON"T do.
Their service is extrordinary. I have never had anyone be rude to me, they are always on time and it just smells so dang good in there.
I wish it were a little closer to my home, but I will make the drive for this kind of pampering.

This is one of the top rated restaurants in Hawaii. Alan Wong makes many local dishes with a lot of vegetables which I like. He is well known in the islands for his Pacific Rim cuisine. This is a superb restaurant that is located away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Thumbs up!

Drive, walk, run, whatever you need to do to get to this place for donut lovers! Heck, you do not even have to be a fan of pastries to try their heavenly tasting malasadas. Krispy Kreme? Who are they? Leonard's can be spotted as you drive along Kapahulu--you can't miss their 1950's sign as you round the corner. Parking is very limited and people will park and try to double park just to eat at Leonard's. We even saw someone take a cab to this place with the meter running while they stood in line to buy a malasada. You can order these fresh, soft, mouth watering delectables with either their filling of the month (ie. mango creme, banana creme) or you can order their originals. Service is excellent and these freshly made pastries come out fast and hot.
Pros: Malasadas
Cons: Parking

Like previous reviews have mentioned, this is one of the most popular place to go for the locals and informed travelers! Nothing compares. Large portion, absolutely local authentic taste and it's just located in this area that you'd enjoy sitting and share a meal after the beach or just chill out with friends. If you are tired of the touristy stuff in Waikiki, I recommend strongly to stop by here and grab lunch. This is what the locals do, and you should do it also.

Recently stayed in Oahu and found this place to be the bearer of the grandest Mai Tais.
Located in the rear of the one of the swankiest hotels in all of Oahu (Halekulani).
For the most part most of the restaurants have the same layout there on the beach, however H w/o K has the best delivery of all!
Every night at sunset they offer live music out under a century-old Kiawe tree overlooking the ocean with service which cannot be beat.
The now $8 Mai-Tais seem like a bargain.
Get there early.. It fills up fast!
