My friends and I decided to have an 80’s skating night recently so we went to the Roller Drome. We went at a later time (around 10:30 at night) and the place was crowded with teens and preteens. I was shocked at how rude and disgusting these children were (straddling each other while making out, talking about drinking and drug use, bullying, etc etc). Yeah, that’s “normal” teen behavior but I was shocked to see not much was being done in what should be a controlled environment. Mean children ruined what should have been a fun experience for us. I think I will be staying away from the Roller Drome from now on. So much for reliving my childhood!

I love this place! The atmosphere is bright and friendly. The workers have always been extremely friendly and helpful. The smoothies themselves are spine-tingling delicious! They have a wide selection of flavors to choose from, and quite a few “boosters” (vitamin add-ins) to choose from as well. The prices range about $3-$5 depending on what kind of smoothie you want. My personal favorite item are their wheatgrass shots with a juice chaser. They are delicious and healthy! If you are looking for a healthy, refreshing drink Booster Juice is the place to go.

I tried Baja Fresh for the first time today and it was delicious. I really didn’t expect it to be so good, but it was. The restaurant was big, and looked to be very clean. The menu wasn’t huge but they did have a nice selection of burritos, salads and tacos. The prices were decent, especially considering the size of the portions. And the food is definitely fresh. I kept telling my boyfriend how great the chicken was. This is a great place to go when you are in the mood for a hearty, fresh burrito.

I love the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I have only enjoyed their caramel apples so far and they are nothing short of amazing. They come in all sorts of flavors like smores, dutch apple, and my personal favorite, tiger butter (chocolate peanut butter). They run around $5, which is a good deal since the apples are huge and have a ton of toppings on them. If you haven’t tried them yet I suggest you try them right away. You can either go to the Outlet Mall location or the Towne Square location. Whichever one you go to you are certainly in for a treat!

JB’s is a family restaurant in Meridian. They have your basic type foods from pancakes, to burgers, to chicken strips. They also offer a salad bar that is pretty big, and pretty good. My personal favorite is in the morning when they offer their all you can eat breakfast buffet. The food is cheap, and tastes good. Also, the staff is friendly and it never takes long to get your food. If you are looking for your basic American dishes for a good price then JB’s is the place to go.

I absolutely adore Starbucks. I know a lot of people think they are overrated and expensive, and in some ways I agree, but I think some things are worth the price and hype. I am obsessed with their Frappuccinos, especially the cream ones, and I think that Starbucks is worth going to for those. On the other hand that’s the only reason to go. If you are looking for a plain coffee drink I think heading somewhere else (Moxie Java, Flying M, etc), would be better, but if you want a blended drink then Starbucks is the place to go!

Edwards is a great theatre to watch movies in. It’s big, the seats are comfortable, they have a lot of screens, and the decorations are cool. On the walls they have paintings of old movie stars! Another nice thing is the bathrooms are HUGE! I have never had to wait in line for a stall to be open. It’s kind of pricey, but if you go for a matinee it’s not too shabby. Plus, they have plenty of restaurants around so that you can easily catch a meal before going to the theatre. If you are wanting to catch a new mainstream movie this is the theatre to go to.

Sharis is a restaurant that serves your basic food (breakfast stuff, burgers, salads, etc). They are also open 24 hours a day, which is nice if you are a late night eater such as myself. My problem with them is they seem to charge more than other places like it. I always considered it to be along the line of Denny’s/JB’s but their prices are more along the lines of a Red Robin or Chillis. My problem with that is they don’t seem to give you a lot of food for your money. For an $8 salad I expect it to be enough to fill me up, instead it was a dinky little thing. I can get a gigantic one at Applebee’s for that price! Another problem is one time I went they must of run out of shake/sundae glasses or something so they put it in a normal soda sized cup, which of course is much smaller than a shake/ sundae glass. It’s a shame I was paying full price for about half the item. So while the food is good I much rather go to Denny’s for my late night eatings.

I am not a huge Thai person but even I like Sa-wad-dee. Their menu is huge, I mean really huge! Which is nice because it means even the pickiest eater can find something to eat. The prices are decent (most noodle dishes are around $9) and so are the portion sizes. The atmosphere is nice, warm, and friendly. I have to say my only real complaint about the place was the service. It took a lot longer than I expected it to take, especially the dessert. So if you are hungry and don’t want to wait long then this isn’t the place to go to. Overall it’s a good place and I definitely plan on going back again sometime.

This is where I shop most of the time for groceries. Yes, it is more expensive to shop at than say Wal-Mart, but it’s worth it. Fred Meyer is organized very well so it’s easy to find whatever you are looking for. Another good thing is they never get crazy hectic like at Wal-Mart. I’ve never had to deal with aisles being taken over by carts, or super long lines. It’s just a nice laid-back atmosphere that makes shopping a breeze. Another nice thing about Fred Meyer is their bakery/deli. They recently enlarged it and now you can find a neat variety of items, including sushi that is made fresh daily! And the bakery now has a lot more pastries/desserts that are just heavenly. It’s certainly better than your average store bakery. On top of all this the people that work there have always been friendly and helpful, which is always a plus when it comes to something as stressful as grocery shopping. This is definitely the place to shop if you want to be in and out fast with the greatest of ease.
