My family was in town over the holidays so we decided to try the Saddle Ranch Chop House at the Legends in Kansas City, Kansas. They have a large menu selection and you can order breakfast items at lunch time. The restaurant is decorated like an old saloon. The service was absolutely horrible. The waiter was nice and took our orders quickly, however, it took forever to get our food and the place was not even busy. The cooks then brought our food out, however, they had the order wrong and it took 20 minutes to get the rest of our meal. The overall experience was very dissapointing.

I have always heard rave reviews about Chick-fil-A, however, I had never tried this fast food chain due to one not being located in the Kansas City area. On 12-07-06 a location was opened in Kansas City, Missouri near Ward Parkway Mall. This fast food restaurant has wonderful chicken sandwhiches. They are made fresh and it is not a breaded chicken patty like other fast food restaurants. The combo meals are served with waffle fries and some are served with cole slaw. They also offer chicken wraps and chicken salads. My son had a kid's meal and was able to substitute fries for a fruit cup for only $.35. The fruit cup is much larger than other fast food restaurants and the fruit was very fresh
with a large variety. After we were done eating, my son was able to play in their indoor play area which was very spacious and fun for the kids. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. The entire experience was excellent.

This past weekend I took my son to Independence Center in Independence, Missouri to have his pictures taken on Santa's lap. The Santa was wonderful, he was the same one they had last year and was great with the kids. The pictures turned out great, Santa was sitting in an overstuffed green chair. The portrait packages are a little expensive. It costs $19.99 for 2 5X7's. The staff that were taking the pictures did not appear that they enjoyed their job and could have been a little more enthusiastic. However, the overall experience was a good one.

I am a big fan of Aldi Grocery Stores. The one located at Wornall and 75th Street in Kansas City, Missouri is a new store. Aldi offers great quality foods, however, it is alot cheaper than other stores. I like some of their products better than the names brands. Also they have a seasonal section that offers some of the name brands as well as toys, camcorders, and other products. Make sure to pick up boxes while you are in the store prior to checking out or you will have to purchase sacks as they are not provided.

Osco on Langsford Road in Lee's Summit, Missouri just became a CVS and I am very impressed with the store. I am really impressed with the photo department. I had numerous problems with the photo department when it was owned by Osco. Now that the store is CVS, they have two computers for you to edit and print your digital prints. They have these set up in a little area that is away from the traffic of customers. They have stools that you can sit and so you are more comfortable. The staff are very helpful and the photos print within about an hour and they are great.

My son recently had a fundraiser at his school through Rabbit Creek Products in Louisburg, Kansas. They have a large variety of foods to select from. I purchased the Harvest Cheese ball Mix. It was a sweet mix with brown sugar, raisins, pecans, and rolled in graham cracker crust. This was great to use as a dip with apples. All of their items are a dry mix and you add other items. In regard to the cheese balls, you need to just add cream cheese. They also have a variety of dips, cookies, breads, pancakes, etc. The prices are reasonable.

Recently I had family from out of town visiting and we decided to take the kids to a movie at Dickinson Theater in Lee's Summit, Missouri. We had a horrible experience. Upon purchasing the tickets, we were charged full price rather than the matinée price. The theater itself was not clean and the bathrooms smelled like mildew. We were trying to find the theater that are moving was playing in, however, the number on the ticket did not correspond with what was posted above the doors of each theater. Trying to find a staff member to assist was virtually impossible.

I was able to get my car washed for $6.00 and it was a very thorough car wash. They accept all major credit cards as well as cash. After the car wash, you can use the complimentary vacuum cleaner. They also have rags and Windex that the customers can use free of charge.

My son had a birthday a few weeks ago and he really likes trains so we took him to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant that is located in Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Get to the restaurant early as they get busy quick. Upon being greeted you are given an engineer hat, you order your meal from a telephone at the table and the food is delivered by a train. The track runs around the ceiling of the restaurant. This restaurant is fun for all ages.

I love Starbucks and really love the location in Lee's Summit at 291 Highway. I find that this location has the best customer service and their drinks seem to be hotter than the other locations. I love the caramel apple cider. It is apple cider with caramel topping mixed in and then topped with whipped cream. It is served warm and is great for the fall.
