I wanted to briefly tell you about this family friend who grew up in a small town suburb of Boston. He is a great writer and school teacher to teens. He's not known at all which makes him very available at very affordable costs! I really think he'd be up your alley with the same tasks and similar situations going on. He has a book called "The end of superman and other short stories" by David Tick. All inspiring stories to make teens think and make better decisions in life.
In fact, one of the stories in the book is about my brother Lenny who passed away at age 27 from congenital heart failure. Here is some text from his writing of my brother:
Lenny was not as healthy as the rest of the ten year olds on the baseball team. In those days, he had what was called- a heart condition. Today, his medical problem would most likely be described as a congenital heart defect. What Len did not have was the energy or robust coloring of a healthy person, but what he did have was the determination or "heart of a lion" which is why his name was so appropriate.
Len's team was made up of little league B-division players who will eventually graduate to the A-division if things worked out for them on the field or from behind the scenes. Len just wanted to play, but he found it difficult to participate because he became winded very quickly. There were many times when Len did not even practice with the team or make it to the games.
Most of his teammates were not big on showing very much compassion, and Len wasn't looking for it. All he desired was to be seen as a regular kid who just wanted to win like everyone else. The coaches of the team were a married couple who seemed to have a tremendous amount of empathy for children as a pretty good knowledge of baseball. They encouraged them to do the best and not worry too much about the score, but winning was the object of the game.
On a dusty hot day at the point Shirley baseball field, Len made it to the starting line-up. Most of his teammates were surprised, and some were annoyed, but the coaches reminded them that they were a team. With the score tied near the end of the game, it was Len's turn to bat, and he walked up to the plate. On the very first pitch he hit the ball farther or as far as anyone had done all year. His teammates began to yell and scream wildly as Len ran to first base.
The coaches settled everyone down and looked towards the on deck hitter, what happened next was totally unexpected. Len's team was well aware of his medical problem and that Len would most likely be out of breath after his run to first base, but apparently Len was not going to let his " condition" slow him down- no way. He knew from the distance from his mighty hit that it absolutely should be a homerun, and he was going for it. Len rounded second base and suddenly began to lose speed. As Len approached third base, he was barely running, and the opposing team now had the ball. They were throwing it towards the infield.
Len's teammates pleaded with him to stop at third base. They were more than satisfied with a triple, but Len wasn't going for any triple. He started toward home plate, and about half way there, he just collapsed. At this point, nobody was thinking about Len's hit anymore because he was now crawling. As he got closer and closer to within a few feet of his final destination, the catcher caught the relay throw and then tagged him out.
Len slowly made it back up to his feet and walked over to the bench with help from the coaches. He sat down, still gasping for air. As his teammates ridiculed him for trying to score, Len looked up, he was totally exhausted. Some of his teammates continued yelling at him while others were laughing at his fool-hearty attempt to keep going around the base path. Len raised his head up from his knees and wiped the sweat from the back of his neck. His teammates continued to vent their frustration in his direction, and Len looked up again, still laboring in his breathing.
He'd take all the ridicule and criticism over anyone's pity. Unexpectedly and without any prompting from the coaches a few of the players walked over to him, patted him on the back and then said "Nice hit."
Len nodded.
Thanks to David Tick for remembering my brother and telling others about him through his writing. He is showing us his affection for Lenny and I'm showing you mine.
Thanks to all of you for reading this. - ginzo

You'll learn there was more to guitar playing when you hear it!!
A couple of plain rock songs. but ,really none bad.
It pains me to find so many people unaware of rock/blues guitarist Gary Moore. If you took the Latin out of Carlos Santana you'd have Gary Moore. With his Les Paul, given to him by the great Peter Green when he was 17, Gary Moore has made his guitar cry and scream like no other.Young and old. Black and white. You will enjoy this!
There are some great lyrics in the album "Out In The Fields- The very best of" but the screamin' and the cryin' of this rock/ bluesy guitar is what it's all about.
1. Out in the fields (Gary Moore)
This is straight out rock 'n' roll
1st verse: "It doesn't matter if your wrong or if your right. Makes no difference if your black or if your white. All men are equal until the victory is won. No color or religion every stopped a bullet from a gun."
2.Over the hills and far away (Gary Moore)
A basic rock 'n' roll song.
3. Run for cover (Gary Moore)
This song's lyrics kind of reminds me of a local woman that had everyone fooled into thinking she had cancer. After they raised all kinds of money for her treatment it was discovered that she didn't have it at all.
The lyrics go "You're gonna run out of time. You've let yourself fall away behind now. And all the years have passed you by. Lies - I used to listen to your lies. You better run and hide now."
4. Parisienne Walkways (Gary Moore and Phil Lynnot)
About old times in love in Paris. A little wine. But this song is about his guitar playing. Gary screams out tremendous blues licks in this one. Garys' best! One of my favorites.(Live version)
5. Empty rooms (Gary Moore)
This song reminds me of when Richie Blackmore of "Deep Purple" formed the band "Rainbow" and had the hit song "Stone Cold". Songs are similar. Clean and crisp. Smooth and cool, with some nice snappy changes.
6. The loner (Gary Moore)
This is another special Gary Moore Guitar playing great one. What he does with his guitar on this one will amaze you. It's a slow bluesy ballard with no vocals.Light the fire and crack a cold one! You can kick back and enjoy the very best of Gary Moore. You've just got to hear this!!
7. Military Man (Phil Lynnot lead singer with Gary during the "Thin Lizzy" days)
This song is about coming to grips about a war time "train-to-kill" soldier, frightened for his momma. A nice song. Rapid fire guitar licks towards the end that again amaze.
8. After the War (Gary Moore)
Basic rock tune. great lyrics like: "You thought you'd be a hero after all that you've survived. If hell was meant for hero's, then surely you've arrived."
9. Cold day in hell (Gary Moore)
Jazzy, peppy blues with a touch of brass. Danceable.
10. Wild Frontier
Cowboy rock.
11. Still in Love With You (Phil Lynnot)
A great laid back sad song with lots of "loss of love" lyrics for anyone who has had their heart broken. This song is loaded with Gary Moore's great guitar playing. One of my favorites. A must listen.
12. Wishing well
A cover rock.
13. Friday on my mind.
Yes, This is the classic song that most of us know. Gary covers it well.
14. Still Got The Blues (Gary Moore)
Another great laid back sad song just like "Still in love with you". Again Gary screams and cries on his guitar. Another favorite of mine. A must listen!! Lyrics:
"Used to be so easy to give my heart away. But I found out the hard way, There's a price you have to pay. I found out that love was no friend of mine. I should have known time after time. So long... it was so long ago. But, I've still got the blues for you. Used to be so easy, just to fall in love again. But, I found out the hard way its a road that leads to pain. I found that love was more than just a game. Your playing to win but you lose just the same. So many years since I've seen your face. But, here in my heart, there's an empty space where you used to be. Though the days come and go, there is one thing I know. I've still go the blues for you."
Wow! Huh!?? Wait till you hear it if you haven't!!
Please!! If you never heard Gary, Do it now.You won't regret it!
When I'm out at my campsite on a nice day, I always have my Gary Moore blasting away on the boombox. And, people always stop and ask,"Who is that guy on the guitar?"!!!

Pros
Absolutely flawless performance. If you were there like I was, great way to reflect!
Cons
No Roger Waters( that's o.k). Most incredible light show can't be captured on tape.BUT NOW WITH THE NEWLY RELEASE OF THE DVD
The Bottom Line
Great band performing at their greatest with the greatest lighting effects I have ever seen. Video has trouble capturing all that goes on but worth the watch and listen
I had the great pleasure of seeing this tour when it came to Foxboro Stadium in 1994. It was the most powerful performance I have ever seen and I have seen most of the greats. It is not often you go to a concert, see a great band play at its greatest level along with the most incredible lighting effects and sound all balled up into one masterful show. All other shows now seem ordinary to me compared to this!
The video does its best to live up to the show by limiting the editing of the performance. When your talking about Pink Floyd there is little need to edit. It's actually just the opposite.
How do you get all the incredible effects such as the lasers:
A 70 mm cine projector and two copper vapour lasers, never seen outside a research lab before, onto a video tape for T.V. viewing?
Fireworks, video shots, Fly overs from a plane and a Floyd blimp. How do you get the WORLDS ONLY stadium size surround sound systems sound onto a T.V. screen? These are the many things the video lacks. There was so much more to capture.
Pink Floyd was using newly invented gold lasers yet to be seen or even licensed in the North America's. A stage so huge it has a staff of 160 technicians and crew over looking the movement of three separate stages(four days to build, six hours to break down) that took about five days to move and rebuild. It was incredible to see in person. To get the idea just how huge it was by watching the video, you have to look at the size of the people in the band when they do one of the many back of the room type video shots. Only then will you have an idea how huge.
The shows director/co-designer is the famous Marc Brickman, who has clients like Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen on his list, works with a team of ten techs going through hundreds of lighting cues in one night with over four hundred lights.Try getting that on your T.V.
In this concert footage, the original members of Pink Floyd are only missing Roger Waters who plays the Bass and writes a lot of the material Floyd has produced. A genius in his own right. All o |
