This is another Blake's Orchard, but different than the other one. This one is a few miles past the first one you will come upon, Blake's Big Apple Orchard. This one is bigger, IMO. They take you through the orchards on a small passenger train during school events as well as offering hayrides. There are more things to do at this one, as well as their store being bigger and their eating area being bigger and totally covered so you can get out of the son or rain. The corn maze here is okay but there's a better one at Blake's Big Apple. You can choose pumpkins here and take them home to pain OR they have painted ones to choose from. Don't forget a bale of hay to stuff your homemade scarecrow with!

This is an EXCELLENT orchard. You can apple pick here, take a hay ride, climb the hay stacks, go through a haunted house, walk through areas that have animals housed, go through their little store and purchase cider and doughnuts. You can also eat lunch there, sold under their yellow tent outside the store. You can also drive your car out to the orchards, pick your apples, put them in the car and pay on your way out of the orchard. If you go with kids, might be an option for you. You can also pick strawberries and raspberries too! They also sell Halloween pumpkins already decorated that you can purchase OR you can pick your own and take them home to decorate yourself. Bale of hay is nice to stuff your own scarecrow, too!

above is a link to info on Yates Cider Mill. They have great cider, warm doughnuts, that you can watch being made, as well as trails to walk through in the woods. My husband and I went there when we were just "us". LOL We go to other cider mills, too, with more activities for our kids. Prices are reasonable and comparable to other cide mills. There isn't apple picking available, though.

the above gives much more info than I can give but this is a FUN time for everyone! We are members of the zoo so we are able to purchase tickets in advance. The kids dress up, trick or treat throughout the zoo trail, which is decorated to the hilt! There are games and music for the kids, too! Great photo op for family Christmas pictures, too! It can get crowded so be prepared!

Check out your local Jo-Ann Fabrics! Here you will find a huge selection of Halloween items! There are outdoor items that light up, to hang on your home, to hand IN your home, fabric, ribbon, fake foliage, LOTS of items!! They now have $1 items in baskets at the front of the store. Check out these to get arts and crafts items, too, that pertain to Halloween. I always shop with a 40% off coupon from JoAnns OR Michaels (they honor Michael's coupons) but I have a hard time using them because everything I want is always on sale anyway!! LOL

Check out garden centers for Halloween items, too. English Gardens has beautiful mums to choose from, as well as scarecrows for yards, bales of hay, corn stalks and the like. The closer to Halloween you shop, the more of a discount you may be likely to get. If you go inside, you may find some Halloween lights and decorations for your home. Be sure to check out their Kids Club. Every year they have a Halloween contest for the best costume on a certain day of October. My daughter, Sabrina, also a CE here at JB, won when she was 5 with a Straweberry costume. She got a $20 gift certificate to spend at English Gardens! Have fun!

This is the first place that comes to my mind in terms of shopping for ANY seasonal item. You can find MANY things at Dollar Tree for $1. There are pencils, banners, bags, home decorations, underwear, socks, candy, all Halloween themed. I buy items here and donate to my kids' schools. I shop here for goodie bags for Halloween for the kids in my children's class, too. Make sure to check out ALL aisles because you don't know what you will find in terms of Halloween. In the tinfoil aisle, I found those aluminum tins to make brownies or cakes in in the shape of a ghost, by Reynolds Wrap. If I hadn't ventured down there, would never have found it!

I know not the first place that comes to mind when you think of Halloween but they do offer a few items. They have scarecrows as well as pumpkins, bales of hay and corn stalks and dried corn. They also offer up cider, great for the Halloween party! I love their selection of mums, too! Don't forget to check out those "non-traditional" places for Halloween items/decor!

I visit my local Michaels, once again, AFTER Halloween to get the most for my money. They have cute items to use to decorate my home the FOLLOWING Halloween. I have picked up ghost votive holders, items to hang on my door or walls that reflect Halloween, scarecrows for my front yard, as well as items that light up! I also have picked up things for school such as Halloween themed stickers and sponge shaped Halloween items for arts and crafts. The teachers truly appreciate the donations. You could use a 40% off one item coupon found in the paper IF you can find something that isn't on sale...that coupon doesn't work on sale items!

Once again, my style of buying is to buy AFTER this year's Halloween to use for NEXT year's Halloween! You can get great deals at Target AFTER Halloween, searching out Halloween t-shirts and socks, usually for as low as a $1 each!! I buy a few for each of my kids for the following year. They also have things for men (boxers) and women (tshirts) that I may even splurge and buy. Make sure to check out the home furnishings for great Halloween buys! Look for picture frames, cauldrons, outside decorations, all for 75% about 5 days after Halloween! I like to visit when it is 90% off but that sale usually lasts for only one day and what is left is pretty picked over, but heck, 90% off is 90% off!!
