The other day my wife and I place an order for flowers to send to her mother. She called back and adjusted the order so that the flowers delivered at our home instead of her mother's. The customer service on the phone was abrupt. Okay. Fine.
My wife calls again this evening asking when the flowers would be delivered (supposed to be today). Customer service was, again, abrupt and didn't offer to check the tracking to see if the flowers were even out of the shop yet. Just not taking care of us. I understand it is a big holiday season but to get repeat business you have to take care of the customers especially when it is busy. Rude customer service.
The doorbell rings. We look out the window and see a guy walking away. I open the door and the flowers are sitting outside the door. We had delivery instructions to bring to the rental office if we are not home. I follow the delivery man to the truck and ask why he rang and ran. Bachman's policy is to drop the flowers off at the door. I asked what happens if someone steals the flowers, we have a front door but the entry area is open with other townhomes having access. We'd have to call Bachman's and they would deliver flowers for free. Great, but what if we needed them that day? He didn't care. Very rude, poor service and did not follow delivery instruction.
A call back to customer service. It is, in fact, Bachman's policy to drop off the flowers if not cold outside and to not deliver to rental office because it might "slow down" the deliveries. Nothing about the fact that the delivery was made to a common area.
To top it off, my wife's mother also received a delivery from the original order before we changed it. Rang the apartment and left it in the entry way to an apartment building with maybe a hundred units...and this is after she said she would be right down.
But, to show this isn't just one experience, two years ago the sales people at Bachman's were very rude when she was shopping around for a florist to use at our wedding. They didn't get our business then and they won't get our business in the future. Customer service was rude and uncaring, delivery was rude, in store people have been rude, and the delivery policy is unreliable if you don't have a private entryway only for your own family.
Our business will be going elsewhere.

My wife and I visited Billabong for the first time this past saturday March 18. It is as "Aussie Grill & Pub" which doesn't really mean anything to me except that there is mentions of "dinkum" and other Australian terms.
The lighting is a little dim, though not so much as an Outback Steakhouse. It is pleasant, a bit nicer than I would expect from a "Grill & Pub". For a saturday night it wasn't very noisy or crowded.
A look at the menu tells me this is like Outback in that there are steaks as a big part of the menu, but then like an Applebees there is a selection of burgers and sandwiches. There is also a healthy selection of appetizers.
I order a cheeseburger with fries and my wife orders a turkey club and has a baked potato with fixings.
The food comes in a decently fast amount of time, it did not feel as if we waited long. The burger was big and juicy and delicious and the turkey club was also quite good. The fries are nothing special and probably come fresh from a frozen bag, and that's fine. The portion sizes are on the large size, which should please those who like to eat.
Overall, this was a very positive dining experience and we plan on returning to Billabong in the future.

After having a less than helpful experience at another running specialty store I tried Marathon Sports on Penn and 50th. Right away all of the employees are friendly and helpful. They ask if there is anything you need help with and what they can do. Recently I had some questions in finding the correct shoe for my foot and the employee happily brought out pair after pair after pair and let me go for short jogs outside on the sidewalks to find out which shoe was just the right fit. Note that there is a treadmill in store for those days that a running test is needed but the weather isn't cooperative. They also have a fairly generous return policy (as long as the sole doesn't show much wear they are willing to exchange).
Marathon Sports has a variety of other running supplies from Body Glide to Fuel Belts, to socks and singlets and shorts. Anything that a runner could need, Marathon Sports either has or is willing to order.
Add to all of this the fact that Marathon Sports is active in the running community. They have fliers for local races in the store, and for some races you can even register at the store and pick up your race packet there. There is always a sign up sheet for a local running club to try out, as well.
Even better, if you are a member of the Minnesota Distance Running Association, you get 20% off on purchases.
The bottom line is that this is a friendly and complete running specialty store and one in which the novice or expert can feel comfortable.
