I've eaten at 35th St. twice in the past two weeks and both times, I've come away raving about the place. Last week I had an amazing Seared Foie appetizer that just blew me away. I followed that with the Steak au Poivre which was also terrific.
This place is rapidly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Living two blocks from it may prove to be dangerous....
Check it out, let me know what you think.

I had a great dinner last night at Cafe Lago. It's a cosy, comfortable dining spot with an upscale feel. The meal and service were both excellent. We started with the Antipasto plate and I ordered a grilled sirloin in a balsamic reduction. It was amazing steak, but the reduction was a little sweet for my taste. They are known for their wood-fired pizzas, the lasagne and the gnocchi. All in all, you can't go wrong there. We were in a group of five and were seated right away on a Thursday. Parking isn't the easiest in that neighborhood, but we found a place a block away so it can't be that bad.
I'm looking forward to going back there again. Highly recommended.

They'll let you take the dog you like for a walk and then you can decide on the process. There is a short application form but they are not ridiculous about it. They are mainly concerned that the animal will get a good home.

I stopped by the Red Door on Saturday afternoon for some Sangria and ended up ordering their Sliders. These are 4 mini burgers and they are absolutely delicious. I think it would have been possible to eat about 15 of them.
Their Sangria is served by the pitcher and for $15 you get 4 pint glasses worth. It's refreshing, packs a decent punch and is not too sweet which makes it just about perfect in my book.
Enjoy.

I had a very good dinner here on Sunday. The french onion soup is a little on the sweet side, but excellent and I had the grilled salmon for my entre which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The atmosphere in the place is great. Cosy and casual (while still feeling a little upscale). It's not cheap - $15-30/entre, but great value overall.
I haven't had their pizzas, but those are next on the list.

I took my mum here on Sunday and we had an awesome time watching boats being raised and lowered. The whole process is fascinating in its scale, simplicity of concept and difficulty in engineering.
We then walked over to the Salmon viewing bunker and saw a couple of them bobbing around.
All said, a very enjoyable afternoon.

This is a no-frills cafe in the industrial section of Ballard. I went there this Sunday with a mild hangover and was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the operation. No wait, but pleasantly full. Parking is easy.
I had a scramble with sausage, mushrooms, spinach etc, OJ & coffee for six bucks. Service was fast and unobtrusive. They also keep all the families with kids in one section, which is a godsend when you're desperately hoping that the world isn't too loud until your headache settles down.
This place is a keeper.

Great, cosy, comfy, well-priced. You can't go wrong at this place. My favorites are the seafood medley, the panang curry and the pad-see-yew (sp?).

Grill 23 is hands-down my favorite steak restaurant in Boston and may be on my top 5 steak meals of all time list. It's got great atmosphere - upscale but not stuffy - and the steak au poivre is insanely good.
(On par with the tenderloin at Brasa in Seattle, and that's high praise...)
