Food is good and not too spendy plus the restaurant in general is loud so I don't think incremental bachelorette noise would bother anyone and you're in Belltown-close to many good bars & clubs.

I went to the new restaurant/dessert bar Coco La Ti Da on Capital Hill last night and was very pleased. They have a very reasonable happy hour from 5:30-7 which allows you to sample many of the savory bites. My favorites were the dips (white bean, beet, sweet potato and pesto) served with salted pita bread and the candied pork mini-sandwiches. For dessert we finished up with the chocolate fondue which was accompanied by chocolate eggrolls (who doesn't like fried chocolate) and a variety of dippable treats. The owner Sue McCown has a lengthy resume as a pastry chef at many of the well known Seattle establishments including the W, Campagne and the Painted table (alexis hotel). The restaurant is open late night as well and offers a lot of fun cocktails so would be a great spot for after dinner dessert and drinks. I highly recommend a visit!

I tried out Tom Douglas' new spot Serious Pie on Virginia and 4th (just behind Dahlia lounge). and I thought is was good but not great. I was excited to see a great chef open a casual eating establishment in Seattle (we need more of these) but compared to the relatively new pizza spots in town (Via Tribunali & Tutta Bella), I thought it came in 3rd. The menu was small--5 pies and 5 salads and pricey--$15 individual size pizzas and $9-$10 small individual size salads. I tried the pizza special (provolone with crispy prosciutto and shallots) which was tasty but (as others have mentioned) the crust was thicker and more doughy than I prefer. It's hard to be down on any Tom Douglas creation but I think he's going to have to step it up to beat out some of the other great pizza shops in Seattle.

Upon purchasing a new house in Seattle, purchasing a tv (a big one) was on the top of my husband's priority list. He did most of the research online and saw that Best Buy had the best selection and prices. We visited the Bellevue store and while I was less than enthusiastic about the large purchase, the salesman was very patient in understanding what we were looking for and took extra time to explain the pros and cons of each model. We were in and out in less than and hour and a new TV was delivered within the week. It was much less painful than I thought!

Since I moved from San Francisco, I have found very few good chinese food places. This weekend my husband and I were introduced to szechwan chef by a recommendation from a Chinese coworker. It was fantastic. I normally wouldn't get so excited about moo shu pork but this was good stuff.
Located in a strip mall, the restaurant doesn't have a lot of street appeal but long lines of (mostly chinese) patrons let us know that this was worth the trip to the east side.
We ordered moo shu pork (as mentioned above) and mangolian beef served with buns as well as the dry roasted green beans--very tasty. We didn't even need the second order of food but did enjoy leftovers the next day. If you have a craving for chinese, I highly recommend visiting this spot.

Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear about your freezer misfortune. Recently I purchased my appliances at Albert Lee. They carry all the luxury brands including sub zero and viking and do have a repair/service department. I'd recommend giving them a call. Not sure where you purchased your fridge but it's worth giving Albert Lee a call. They are located at the base of the magnolia bridge.

While it's hard to rate this business relative to others (it's the only antique restoration business I've had an experience with) I know it is very challenging to fine local craftsman with this type of specialty so I wanted to share my experience. The owner Robby has a small working studio just off of Eastlake and takes on any antique restoration, furniture repair or custom furniture projects. I found a very expensive antique coffee table and has been able to replicate it (with just a color picture) including distressing the wood to make it look weathered and dated. I'm very pleased with the work he's done and for a fraction of what I would have paid for the original piece.

The recently new hot spot in Queen Anne, Veil is a great addition to the Seattle restaurant scene. It lives up to its reputation for having LA-ish style (white leather and pink lighting) but staff was unpretentious and food (though pricey) was quality. We started off in the bar which offers a small menu and many inventive drinks. I chose a champagne cocktail which had lavendar infused honey and was possibly one of the best drinks I've ever had. We moved into the dining room and chose to try the tasting menu. The chef concocted a menu on the spot for our party taking into account our food preferences and also included a wine pairing. The tasting menu option is interesting as the restaurant allows the party to select the # of courses and price with or without wine (although they'll give you strong guidelines). The best courses were the scallop with hamhock, toasted corn soup and the salty peanut butter ice cream dessert which is their signature dessert. The one dissapointing course was the lamp rump (there's a reason why it's not a popular cut). It was tough and the flavor was generally off. Veil is in the category of crush, union and a slightly more affordable mistral. If you like those places, you should give Veil a visit.
NB: While I liked the tasting menu, I would not recommend it for large groups unless everyone is ordering exactly the same thing as the kitchen was not able to accomodate a lot of substitutions.

I highly recommend Nick Banchero for installing new floors or refinishing and staining existing floors. We recently hired Nick and were very pleased with his work. The whole process took just 5 days (compared to 2-3 weeks which most other companies quoted). The reason Nick and his crew work so fast is that they work 12-14 hour days and he has two crews, one that shows up early and one that stays until they have done everything they can for that day. Since we are doing a lot of work on our house, I've been conscious about the noise for our neighbors etc. but not to worry with Nick's crew, they were as quiet as possible and extremely polite and friendly. Also, one of the most stressful parts of putting in new floors is picking out the stain. Nick met me at Daly's on Stone way to select the stain and spent an hour with me testing different options and was very patient through the whole process eventhough he could have just let me figure it out on my own. And price: Nick is not the cheapest but he's very reasonable and offered to match another bid that I received that was just south of his original quote. I highly recommend Nick for all of your flooring needs.
