The things that are chocolate are reallly chocolate and the things that are fruity are really fruity. I like the plain brownie almost the best of all.

On the other hand, I've never had to wait so long for a coffee drink to be prepared. I've only been there twice so maybe it was bad luck, but jeez, it's just a latte.

I think the food here is kind of bland and only ok. It is closest to my home so I wish I could say it was fantastic, but I'll usually just drive to Wallingford or Freemont if I want Thai.

One of the great things about Neelam is that when they cook vegetarian food, they use different cookware and utensils which I think is very gracious and not something that I require, but still, I found it to be a nice touch.
I have always enjoyed the food at Neelam's, but the atmosphere really leaves a lot to be desired. Neelam, on the other hand, has a sunny personality that brightens the place up.

I have discovered new favorite artists at the Henry and even on a bad day I'll usually be more inspired and excited leaving the Henry than I would be leaving SAM. I'm especially in love with video and multimedia art and SAM has the best and most consistent selection in this area. I think I've seen Tony Ousler pieces there 3 or more times, several Gary Hill pieces, my very favorite Bill Viola and a new discovery for me Wolfgang Laib.

When my parents were here a few summers ago, we had dinner and toured Columbia Winery via the dinner train. It was actually a pretty nice ride and we were seated in a private dining car because of the size of our party. That made it seem more special, but sitting in the general area you also get the chance to meet other people on the train. The food was good (but not spectacular) and the wine tour was interesting.
All in all, I'd say it's a great way to spend an evening, but not something that was interesting enough to do all the time.

Sooke is on the West coast of Vancouver Island and it takes about 5 hours to get there from Seattle if you drive over the Canadian border then take a ferry to Victoria, then drive 25 miles to Sooke. It is so worth it though because this b&b is a gem. It isn't all frilly and lacey (and ultimately kind of cheesy) like most b&bs and the private hot tub on the balcony is just heaven.
There are 3 rooms - 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. All rooms have a fireplace, heated floors, simple wood furniture made by the owner and a hot tub on the balcony. The downstairs room also has a steam room feature in the bathroom.
The owners are very nice and unobtrusive, the breakfast is really great and can be served in your room.
Sooke is sleepy and the further north you drive, the wilder it gets. There are plenty of places to take a hike or a walk on the beach and a couple good places to eat.
I can't tell you what a perfect place this is to go and really relax. Play Scrabble on the ferry and bring your favorite music to listen to and the trip there and back is pretty fun.
