Rod and Reel pier is truely a taste of old Florida. The atmosphere is not plush or fancy but that is the true charm. You actually are eating seafood which could very well be caught at the actual pier itself. Its so nice to eat a freach fish sandwich prepared just like you like and a beverage for under $10.00 not to mention the lovely views of the Sunshine Skyway bridge. The fishermen fishing off the pier also add to the atmosphere .I dont think anyone could be dissappointed with this tropical combination of good food and scenery .

Authentic, reasonable and very nice people. Best spot in town. Take the fish of the day and share it for 2. Then order a key lime pie as dessert and some drafts. Wonderful! Maybe you can see dolphines and manatees near the pier.

This is a nice restaurant but a tad expensive. It is hard to find something cheap on the menu. After a nice day at the beach it is a nice place to go but it isnt quick. The nice time to go is sunset. You can watch the sun go down while you eat if you eat on the deck.

We had dinner at the restaurant. It was such a refreshing location. Next to the restaurant was a gentleman selling jewelery. After dinner we went to the bar which was next to the restaurant and had sangria while sitting on the pier. What a great experience. Would definitely go back for the food and ambiance.

This is a great place to stay. This is the most beautiful places in Holmes Beach. They decorate for the seasons and they do it so well. I remember going here for Christmas and the tree was spectacular. This is a place I would go with someone who meant the world to me. You are right on the beach and you are minutes away from great little shops and boutiques. Super spot on the island.

I can't believe there is actually a place like this that exsists so close to my house. With white sandy beaches and emerald green translucent waters, my girlfriends and I enjoyed on of the best girl's day out in a long time. We started with Pina Coladas at the bar looking out over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The bartender was fun and a cutie. We were escorted to our table after only a 10 minute wait. Our table was right on the sand so we kicked off our shoes and sunk our toes into sand that was so soft it felt wickedly like whipped cream. we started with a calimari appetizer that was lightly breaded and served with a homemade marinara. Our choice of entrees included the fresh grouper sandwich, lightly blackened, the Wasabi encrusted salmon salad, the Buffalo Burger and the ahi tuna with a homemade seaweed salad. We shared a bottle of great red wine and finished it off with the sinners delight sundae. At one point, Sara decided to take a dip in the gulf. How cool to be able to leave your table, go take a dip and come back and take a refreshing sip of your Pina Colada only to drip dry in your chair. Where else can you do this, maybe at their sister restaurants the BeachHouse or Mar Vista only a short drive south of the Sandbar.
Everyone needs to go to this restaurant if they want to experience waterfront dining the way it was meant to be!!!
Pros: relaxing, great food, great service and unmatched view
Cons: none

One of my favorite seafood restaurants. There is outside dining on a canal next to a marina and inside dining for those who like A/C. Their prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. Very casual and relaxed.

This is a great thing to do with your friends who come in from out of town. You can take them on a sailing trip. It is not expensive and it is a neat opportunity. I went recently and my kids loved it. Also we saw dolphins and a manatee. I had never seen one in the wild. If you dont like sailing this Captain will also take you fishing on his motorboat. So if you have friends that want to see some islands that you cant get to by land this is the way to go. Plus what is more relaxing?!

I regularly go just to hang out at the City Pier outside bar where you can order and feast on the wonderful calamari and fish appetizers. There's usually live music at lunch & dinner and you can usually find Bill making jewelry and selling it at the Pier Jewelry Gift Shop. Inside at the restaurant my favorite is the steamer pot but I have enjoyed other menu items as well. It's relaxing and laid back and is definitely THE place I bring my visiting out-of-towners.
