we stubled upon spiro's after an evening at alki and it was perfect for our needs. we had 2 little ones with us so they not only brought us crayons and paper but drinks with lids AND little bowls of shredded cheese for the kids to snack on while we waited for our food. the waitstaff was just incredibly nice, attentive, responsive, etc. the food was ok - not great but not bad. salad was good, fresh, and not skimpy. and their child-size portions are pretty big, it's a good thing my youngest is such a big eater!

i went in there today to get passport photos taken. i got them shot, then came back a little later to pick them up and get the shots taken of my 2 year old. the guy who took them - i think he's the owner but i'm not sure - was beyond rude. he kept making exasperated faces because my 2 year old wasn't listening to his 'look at the camera' orders. then my 4-year old rang the little bell on the counter and he yelled at him! total and complete, well, i can't use the word i want to use, but it rhymes with Bick

that sums it up for me. my experience with GLJW was all positive. i was lucky enough to be hooked up with jenny who grasped immediately what i wanted done. she had great ideas and suggestions and wasn't afraid to weigh in when she knew something wouldn't work. i was given an estimate that was accurate (actually, a few estimates based on different designs) and the process was easy from there.
after the wax was done i got to go in to approve it, then my ring was ready a few weeks later. the result was that i now have a 5-year anniversary band with the birthstones of my hubby and 2 kids and i look at it every day and smile.
when you get the jewelry, you also get a cleaner, a 'checkup' schedule and photos of your jewelry.
i'd go back to greenlake jewelry works in a heartbeat.

i thought i'd tried it all - waxing (ow plus ingrown owies later on), laser removal (holy mother of god OW ow make it stop ow), even the at-home stuff (ow plus sticky and messy and not really that effective). but my friend introduced me to and recommended 'sugaring' for hair removal, so i gave it a shot at The Sweet Spot in Fremont.
i'm beyond impressed. first of all, it barely hurt and it was a quick process. second, the red bumps lasted for about 1/2 hour then they were gone. third, my skin is smoooooooooothe smoothe smoothe. what else...the cost! very reasonable. totally sanitary since they use the same piece of sugar for the entire treatment on you, then they discard it. street parking within 1/2 block. nice people. cute doggies. tea, water and a nice staff.
no drawbacks, no negatives, no issues. i'll give it 4 stars because my new personal rule is that i won't give 5 starts until i visit a place more than once.

Mexico the restaurant, that is. located in Pacific Place next to Gordon Biersch, Mexico was a total delight. Friendly waitstaff who refill your water and nachos before you have to ask. Prompt service. and the food - oh my! i had a chipotle chicken with mango salsa, rice and veggies. It was one of the tastiest pieces of chicken i can remember eating. just amazing. hubby had provolone over eggplant which was also outstanding. their table salso is a bit on the spicy side but even i, the wimpiest of wimps when it comes to spicy, could easily tolerate it.
perfect place to eat if you are anywhere downtown.

long story short - jilly's hubby wants to get prius. jilly sends hubby to burien toyota. expected waitlist of several months turns into several weeks. jilly's hubby is given a very fair price on his trade-in. jilly's hubby now has a cool new Prius.
our salesman, matt beck, was fun to work with even though his 12 minutes really was 30 minutes, but that's another story. super low pressure, great comm, nice people to work with, easy to get to. if i ever get a toyota or scion, i know where i'm going.

i've literally had more compliments on my hair during the past 5 days then in the past 5 years! and i blame eric sarantos.
my last haircut was losing shape fast so i looked online, found the highly-recommended eric sarantos and he squeezed me in last minute. the dude is a genius with hair.
he owns the shop and he's the only person who works there (except for maggie the dog, but she doesn't really work, it's more of a tail-wagging and sleeping job). the shop is small but not cramped, it's cute and comfy, and there's plenty of parking. compared to other shops his prices are on the average-high side, but worth every last penny. he's nice, friendly, and he just knows hair. he's studied with "the best of the best" and it shows.
and seriously, i've gotten so many compliments from people over the past 5 days that i'm starting to feel like a walking billboard for eric's shop.

i had to get a business cell phone today so i put aside a few hours to get that done through a t-mobile dealer. much to my surprise, it only took about 15-20 mins at kits camera in the westlake mall.
bottom line is that they knew what they were doing, knew the right questions to ask, and were able to have me walk out of there with an activated free phone within 20 minutes. i had to run back in for a question and they were just as helpful, none of the 'we already helped you' attitude you get from some places.
i hope the t-mobile service stands up to kits' level

i've been to blue c a few times and can't rave about it - the sushi is unimaginative, the conveyor belt is often loaded with the same sushi for 5 or 6 dishes in a row, etc. but it's decent, it's fresh, and they have a TON of veggie options which makes it great for me to go there with hubby. veggie tempura rolls, tofu rolls, different noodle salads, and on. the prices are on the high side for conveyor belt sushi, but it's not a bad place to go.

but i wouldn't go again. the service was great - friendly, attentive, fast. but the food was nondescript and WAY too expensive. the lobster bisque was good, the salads were good, but the entrees were only fair. great, romantic view but be prepared to drop $50 per person on a simple meal.
