EDIT - June 17, 2007
Although I am leaving the original post below, I would like to add these comments regarding my latest hair adventure. With every intention of finding a new salon, I just couldn't muster the courage to do so a week before a trip I am taking, so back to Seven I went. I related my woes to my stylist, Michael, and he listened intently. We had a nice talk and with much sincerity, he convinced me that he is aware of how important it is to keep clients happy, as well as looking good, and will do what it takes to make that happen. I left on a positive note and will be seeing him again in the future, albeit at the Bellevue location. Michael is not only the best hair stylist I've ever had, he is courteous and honest and the owners of this business should be VERY glad they have him in their corner.

I'm sorry to have to say I'm logging on to relate the worst customer service experience I've had in a long time. I've been a customer at Seven Salon for a little over a year now and in the past have written glowing reviews of the salon as well as my stylist, Michael. Although I am still very happy with the hair services I have received to date, I am more than disappointed in the customer service I've been given.
I have had scheduling problems and miscommunications for the past several months with this salon, as well as my stylist, and in each instance, I have been received with the insinuation that it's my problem to deal with. The receptionists are rude and unhelpful. Ben at the downtown location, acts more than put out when asked any questions and has each time I've dealt with him.
I'm not sure if the staff at Seven Salon is too busy trying to peddle their new product line to pay attention to their actual customers but the service here is getting worse by the minute. My hair has never looked better, but unfortunately, it looks like I'll be spending the rest of the day trying to find a new salon and stylist.

We just completed the Tues. night league and although we were the "senior citizen" team, we had an absolute blast! We were even invited by another team to join them for kickball in the fall so not only did we enjoy ourselves, we may have even made some new friends.
If you've ever yearned for the good old playground days of kickball, dodge ball, flag football, etc., and thought to yourself, "the only way to make those games more fun is to add beer", Underdog Sports is for you.
Check them out!

We have a scooter and we got our helmets here. The staff was very helpful and if I remember correctly, we had a return for some reason and they were very accommodating. We got low end, plain old helmets and they weren't expensive at all.
Good luck and ride like the wind!

I can't believe I only found this store today. Needless to say, I made up for lost time. :)
This women's clothing store in the University District has the most stylish, flattering, comfortable, and here's the kicker, inexpensive clothes in town!
I don't go out much, unless you count the park, the gym, the zoo...you get my drift...so when I do go to dinner or out for drinks, I want to look "hip", without paying an arm and a leg. Enter Pitaya. The soft, casual but nice looking, knits sold in this store are one of a kind. There are a range of colors, prints, solids and styles of t-shirts, dresses, skirts and pants. And as mentioned above, the prices are unbelievable!
Another plus is that the clothes are displayed in color groupings which makes shopping easy. If you see a dress you like in blue, but would rather have it in green, over to the green section you go to look for it.
In addition to the clothing, there are accessories, such as shoes, jewelry and handbags.
If you're in the U-District, you've probably already paid for parking, so why not take an extra few minutes to give Pitaya a look! You'll be glad you did!

Let me start by saying I know accidents happen. HOWEVER, we went to the new Zoomazium at the Woodland Park Zoo today and I was very shocked and disappointed by what I saw. Dare I say the mother, calmly hovered over her son who was put in a neck brace and hauled off on a stretcher in an ambulance may have felt the same way?
The first thing that struck me was that it is quite a small space. Granted, we're nearing the end of school and it was a busy day, but it is the zoo. Field trips happen!
I also felt that the 3 different play areas (one open area for smaller kids, one climbing area with a slide for toddlers/older kids and one climbing fig tree house for older kids) were too close together. The Children's Museum and the Science Center (and even REI) have a much better set up with each specific area being more "self-contained" and separated from the other areas.
And now to the aforementioned little boy who was lying on the floor being treated by the medics. Let me preface this by saying I did not see him fall. Let me now assume I can guess what happened. In the middle climbing area, there is a faux rock that juts out and is approximately 7 ft. off the ground. (I'm bad with dimensions, so I'm guessing.) Imagine, if you will, a plank off the side of a pirate ship. There are hand rails where the rock meets the larger climbing area, but they end as the rock begins to stick out over the floor. Unfortunately, the rock (our plank in my story) isn't over a body of water.
Safe? I'm thinking no. I have no idea if there is *supposed* to be some type of barrier to keep kids from climbing out there, but as the poor tot lie on the floor below, a volunteer physically stood at the entrance to the "plank" to keep kids from walking out there. If I was a betting woman, I would put $50 down that the designers of this play area don't have kids.
I'm sure the zoo, and the zoo's attorney, and the zoo's insurance carrier, are taking a fresh look at the new zoomazium. Maybe they'll make some changes, maybe they'll chalk it up to those "accidents" I was referring to in my opening statement, but either way, I think we'll steer clear of this place and wait for the new carousel to get finished.

Although being in a room full of Kate Spade items is the closest I'll probably ever be to nirvana, I have to say I was a little disappointed with this Kate Spade store. The sales clerks were not friendly at all and showed no interest in seeing if we needed assistance. It felt like the scene in "Pretty Woman" when poor Julia Roberts couldn't get help from the snooty women. (The only caveat is that I wasn't dressed like a hooker.) I was also a little surprised at the offerings as I have more choices at Nordstrom!
I probably won't go back here but alas, it won't keep me from buying Katie's wares. I'll just buy on line or at a department store.

My girlfriend came to visit for the weekend and my husband was sweet enough to book manicures for us at Spa Scotta. Although I haven't had a manicure in ages, I must say I was a little disappointed. It wasn't the most professional of evenings and I felt as if my manicurist was hurrying the entire time. My polish was chipping after only 3 days and my cuticles look like they weren't even pushed down. Unfortunately, the real kicker is that it wasn't cheap!
Although InSpa isn't fancy, I've always felt as if I got what I paid for. Whenever I've gone to Gene Juarez (downtown location) it has always been a good and relaxing experience.
I'm sure glad I had the company of a good friend or this trip would have really been a bust!

I think you're a Kenneth Cole kind of guy....or at least you should be. Clean yet "hip" looks, both casual and dressy choices, great leather goods (shoes, wallets, etc.), not too expensive and finally, the man isn't afraid to speak his mind about social causes which makes me want you to support him.
Happy shopping!

This is an easy one. Get a brand spankin' new Honda Odyssey from Shelia Locke at Honda of Bellevue. I think our entire transaction took about 2 hours. She is no-nonsense yet personable, customer service is great (although we've had NO problems w/ our van, just regular maintenance) and the Odyssey is, well, just flat out the best mini van out there.
For the record, I'm jealous if you get a van that has a remote open back door.

Where you don't have a lot to choose from, Griffen's is a great florist. We've been sending my mom flowers every month for the past year and a half and they have done a terrific job. The bouquets arrive on time and I always get a good report on their beauty. The staff is also very good about accommodating requests to delay a delivery if my mom will be out of town.
Griffen's can also deliver other gifts in addition to flowers which is nice, especially for the out-of-towner, when you want to send something besides a floral arrangement.
