Oh joy! I have always been a diligent outlet mall shopper but have had yet to travel up to Marysville/Tulalip to shop around the newest outlet mall addition to northern Washington. I was completely blown away. The stores were high-end (Puma, Banana Republic, Coach, Calvin Klein, Nine West etc etc) and did not spend rack space on unnecessary irregulars and just plain hideous clothes some people would not like to be caught dead in. But these stores were filled with some awesome (let me repeat- awesome) finds. I walked out of Banana Republic with a pair of white gaucho shorts and a nautical-esque striped off-the-shoulder shirt for only 60 bucks... compared to the regular stores, the outfit would've set me back around 150. Just great deals all around. Watch out for the crowds though! We arrived just as a slew of tour buses were arriving and had to battle our way to get to the clothes in the stores. Weekends get extremely busy so if you have a day off on the week or just get out of work early, I'd shoot up to Marysville to avoid the crowds. Hope your shopping goes as well as mine!

A cheesecake factory. Could it sound any more delightful, any more wonderful? Well, yes, it sounds good, but the Cheesecake Factory in downtown Seattle is anything but. The wait is atrocious-- I really don't know why so many people are so eager to get in! Expect a good 45 minute wait on busy evenings, if you're lucky. The menu is over-the-top and I do not understand why they need to advertise in between pages. Can no one see that ploy? It's quite sad. The food comes in such wastefully large portions and it's not like you want to eat that food the next day anyways-- it is hastily, pre-prepared and always a sloppy mess, especially the sandwiches. The cheesecake is fine at the end, but by god you know you're gaining four pounds right then and there while you're enjoying the cheesecake. Really, why go here? It's over-produced, catering to the masses impersonal style is so jarring.

The staff at Something Silver in the University Village has always been an impressive bunch. They are always so attentive to all of the customers in the store and are always right at your side even before you think of asking to have a case opened. The jewelry selection is the perfect mix of rings, charms, necklaces, and earrings. You can always find something in your price range. They also offer great wrapping for free, so it you're shopping for someone else, have them take a few extra seconds to make it look very pretty! Enjoy!

I feel a strange nerve twisting in my brain whenever I have to witness an Old Navy commercial. I know it is all a joke, but come on, they're horrible. Their clothes look cheap even in the commercials. I have a rule that if the clothes look poorly fitted on the models, then they definitely are going to be dingy on us regular folk. The downtown flagship store is scary. The three-floors of mass clothing piles/racks are daunting and the swirling pre-teens and mothers chasing after toddlers is chaotic. The clothing is as the ill-fitted models would have predicted: cheap stitching, shapeless, and rough fabrics, as least in the women's section. I have seen some pretty good men's button-downs and polos, I must admit. The prices are very impressive, especially two-for-one deals and such, but then you have to suffer through ill-fitting clothing for the season. I'd say skip it, it isnt worth it.
Change the channel quick if a commercial comes on too, you might get some fleece-jingle stuck in your head for a few months.

This place is addicting, is it not? I always go to the Internet first before the phone book just because of ease, not so much reliability. However, upon discovering Judy's Book, I found reasonable people with very rational, detailed reviews of actual restaurants/salons/etc. This is a great community and it seems we really have frequented almost every coffee shop, movie store, spa known to the Seattle area! I hope this place doesn't get as bogged down as city search did... I love the organization of this web page too much to have it get too complicated! Keep up the good work reviewers!

When I was younger Cucina Cucina was the place to go! After all, they had paper as table cloths so you could draw till your meal came and would always give me a piece of pizza dough to play with while waiting also. This is perfect for little kids. Now, as an adult, not so much. The low-quality service and the sub-par Italian food are hard to ignore now. The pizzas are okay and some salads are better than can be expected, but otherwise, you're left with flavorless entrées. The appetizer list is sub-par on its own and the desserts are equally disappointing. If you have kids, this place is great-- always noisy enough to drown your own kid's voices. They'll enjoy it for the reasons I once did as a kid. Hopefully you can grit your teeth and get through the meal without too much displeasure.

Hopefully everyone gets a chance to dine at Benihana for a special occasion at one point in their life. The hibachi-style restaurant is always brimming and humming with so many smiling faces, creating a great ambiance, especially for parties. The food is exquisitely simple and cooked right before your eyes in hibachi-manner. The chefs seem pretty worn out at times and you feel bad when they have to do the knife tricks that you know they've done thirty times already today. That aside, the food is great-- I especially enjoy the hibachi-shrimp. Make sure you order any side dishes right-away, sometimes special orders such as extra-rice or such can be lost in such a busy restaurant. Also, make a reservation for sure--- no sense in waiting two hours for a seat as some people are willing to do.

Coach will always be a classic retailer for many women. The downtown store, though small, offers a great selection of in-season purses, clutches, wallets, and more. Notable though is the pretty recent addition of clothing and shoes in the Coach brand. They are very high-quality and made with the same great leathers and suedes as featured on the purses. Of course I can really only afford a key-chain or a wallet from their factory stores, but I cannot deny how much I love just looking around the store. The designs are so simple and classic with always just a hint of flair, especially with their new colorful 2006 line. Spring for a good leather cleaner and you can keep your wallets and such in pretty good condition for awhile, but the newness fades pretty quickly with daily use. This retail chain will forever be a classic and hopefully they continue sticking to the classics.

Urban Outfitters is a great retail store, though sometimes it seems they try too hard to be "hardcore". Some of their more punk-rock inspired clothing just comes off as lame and anything but authentic. I do enjoy their more vintage-inspired clothing lines, however. The prices range from so-so to ridiculous on the main floor but once you get to the sale racks, all bets are off. It's amazing, folks. Last time I frequented those chaotic racks I pulled out a pull-over ruffle cardigan and a sparkly white undershirt, making the perfect glamorous top for a mere eight dollars. 8 DOLLARS! Heck yes! My friend snagged a pair of Lux jeans for thirty dollars, not bad at all! The sales are amazing and they are always on-going, never just post-season.

Rosanna in the University Village features some great European (and of course, mock-Euro items) as well as the persona of a small, English boutique. The store is cramped with great little gifts as well as amazing china. I love their specialty chocolate bars-- there is a mexican cocoa one, a parisian dark chocolate, and another I cannot remember. They are to die for! Always keep your eye out too for great little purses or wallets. I bought a fantastic small purse (with the cutest embroidered flowers on a creme base) for a mere 19 dollars during one sale. Which brings me to their sales- during the University Village sidewalk sale, Rosanna, in my opinion always beats the competition. I got the most amazing dish set for such a remarkable price during last summer's sale. Just perfect and the designs were so fun! If you ever check out the store, do it in mid-June when the sidewalk sale is going on.
