We had a great experience with HomeStreet Bank for our mortgage setup. Our agent, David Hatlin, was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process. As this was our first purchase, we needed a lot of help and educating. We came away feeling confident that we were on the right track.

I recently helped out at a non-profit fund raiser by running their AV setup. Shortly before the presentation was about to being the projector shut off all by itself. It powered back on after a moment, but I was concerned enough to call AV Pro, the folks they rented from, to see if this was a known issue. The employee who answered my call spent more than 15 minutes on the phone with me walking me though troubleshooting ideas. He felt confident that it was probably a glitch in the power (old building) but gave me a cell phone number for someone who was standing by to rush a replacement projector out to our event.
This all seems like it should be standard behavior for a rental service, but we all know it isn't. I was pleasantly surprised by the immediate attention as well as the sincerity of their concern for our event to run smoothly.
I wasn't involved in the rental process, so I can't speak to their equipment selection or prices. But based on their support I'd highly recommend checking them out if you need to rent projectors or sound systems.

In addition to his shop on the edge of Pioneer Square, keep an eye out for Salumi meats on great antipasto plates around town. You can also pick them up at De Laurenti http://www.judysbook.com/cities/seattle/Grocery-Stores/157/p1/De_Laurenti_Specialty_Food.htm. I'd also highly recommend the salumi sandwich from the Baguette Box http://www.judysbook.com/cities/seattle/Food-and-Dining/26654048/p1/Baguette_Box.htm.

The products at Paperhaus are so beautifully designed that I can't walk by without going in to poke around. As best I can tell, their inventory is a collection of designer products targeted for other designers.
From their site: http://www.paperhaus.com/
"Since 1992 artists and designers have made PAPERHAUS their primary source for contemporary presentation, organization and storage materials. Successful design is based on functionality, quality and timeless appeal so we choose award winning manufacturers such as NAVA, MH Way, Prat and Rexite to satisfy this criteria."
Laptop bags and sleeves are one of the sexiest items they carry. They're designer priced (which is why I've never purchased one) but they're pretty darn cool.

The Six Arms on the hill, McMenamins in lower Queen Anne and Dad Watson's in Fremont are all run by the same folks and are solid neighborhood pubs. Great fries, nice atmosphere, and a burger with tillamook cheddar that I think is something like$5.95 - pretty good when you consider the $8 or $9 bucks some pubs are charging these days.

As a local, I know not everyone gives a thumbs up for Pagliacci's. But for me this is comfort food. Maybe it's because I've been coming here since I was a teenager and used to think it was cool that they played rock music and had Italian movie posters on the wall. The pizza isn't anything spectacular and the atmosphere has been yuppified, but when I'm on my own and need to fill up my favorite thing to do is come here, grab a couple of slices of pep and flip through the latest Stranger. They're steady, consistent, reliable. Not stellar but good enough to keep me coming back.

CHAC, nestled in the heart of Capitol Hill neighborhood, serves as a multidisciplinary arts center that fits the style and character of its neighbors. On any given week it offers poetry, drama, music, and visual art. The people behind CHAC bring a noteworthy community-oriented philosophy and energy to their work. The theater is a versatile space that works as well for thespians as it does for ravers. One additional perk: going to CHAC for an event is a darn good reason to eat at Crave (which is in the same building). http://www.judysbook.com/cities/seattle/Restaurants/671/p1/Crave.htm

Paws, I owe you a big thanks. You brought Adeline into our lives and we love you for it. She's the coolest cat in town. And that's not just a proud parent talking. Just check my photo gallery and you'll notice the stunning, cunning, remarkably intriguing Adeline. http://www.judysbook.com/members/chad/photos/
By the way, see the photo of her flying through the air? It's not like we threw her. She soars like a large bird of prey hovering over her target before pouncing on her target and snuffing out its meager life with a flick of her paw. Oh yes, be afraid.

They make sandwiches taste gourmet. The salumi, so yummy. Daikon radish, herbs, coppa and prosciutto. Why eat at scubway when we have this for the taking?

Ten years ago I spent a few weeks with a friend's family in Slovenia. Every day the town square was transformed into a farmer's market, and every day the residents of Ljubljana would come to pick up their fresh food for the day. The vendors seemed to know all the shoppers and what they liked. I found this to be indescribably charming and right.
De Laurenti's is the closest I've ever felt to that kind of charm here in Seattle. Yes, there are farmer's markets around town and there's even the Pike's right next door, but there's something about the quality and spirit of De Laurenti's that feels special.
