I recently went to Destenee Salon and Spa for the first time. My appointment was with Whitney and I couldn't have been more pleased. She gave me a perm and I then received a cut, style, and blow dry. She was very knowledgeable and actually took time to listen when I was explaining what I was looking for. I can honestly say that she gave me the best perm I have ever gotten. And believe me when I say I have had a lot of them over the years. My hair feels really great and I have received many compliments. I will definitely go back. Thanks Whitney. See you again soon.
Pros: friendly and helpful service
Cons: couldn't find any!

I usually don't write reviews but after some of the recent reviews I had to give my opinion that I've been very happy with Mina's Studio and so are all my friends and family that I have referred to them over the years. I've always been treated great by the employees at the front and the service employees. I've had great experience with my hair stylists that is always suggesting new ideas and making sure I am happy. I love the facials, manicures and pedicures I get along with massage I treat myself to every so often. I come in for everything and have never had a bad experience. They've been voted best salon in the Triangle for a reason!!
Parking is great considering it is Chapel Hill and location is easy if you are in Chapel Hill or even from other cities like Raleigh because it is close to 40 (that's me).
I think sometimes it is easier to write reviews when you are unhappy but satisfied customers alot of times don't think to take the time to write so I wanted to set the record straight.
Pros: great hair cuts, hair color, manicure, facial and massage
Cons: that there are not multiple locations!

I received an awful color job at another Chapel Hill salon and Jessie at Mina's saved me! I had two-toned black and yellow hair when I came to see her. She was personable, listened and communicated with me about what I wanted, and even made time for me that very day! My hair looks beautiful and blended! If only I had gone here first. It was worth the money. And thanks to Courtney for that excellent shampoo :). I would highly recommend this salon.

This is always a great spot to grab dinner. But an even better option is to grab a drink and step outside to the large open patio area. Although there are many undergrads on the weekends, it is still a nice place to go with a group to sit outside. There is often a cover at the door. The restaurant is nice and the food is great!

This was a great place for me to go with my friends. We went on a Tuesday evening, and there happened to be live music for "Tunes on Tuesdays." We sat outside on the beautiful patio, and even though it is the middle of the summer, we were quite comfortable under the fans and the tent they had set up. The music was at a perfect volume so that we could still talk at our table, and there was even a "cafe style" menu that we could order from with lighter food and cheaper prices. The servers were also extremely attentive and the food was delicious. Our dinner party couldn't have had a better experience in a more unique atmosphere.

I was there the same night the previous reviewer was there. I counted over 300 people try and get to MJ. The staff was as polite as they could be but some people were really obnoxious in their efforts to get to MJ or to take pictures or both.
By the way, there is always food available when I go to Top of the Hill. However, they stop serving dinner and go to their bar menu at 10 because the bar crowds are so large and want to take over the tables so they can't serve restaurant patrons well.
Pros: Friendly Staff, Location, Beer, Food
Cons: None

Allen & Son is the perfect southern barbecue experience. It's not fancy, but it is the best home cooked barbecue around. Everything from the barbecue to the slaw to the hushpuppies is wonderful. They also sell really nice big bones for dogs that are only a dollar a bone. Everyone can enjoy it!

For me, pork barbecue sandwiches are the real test for Eastern Carolina Barbecue. I grew up on it, and my standards are high. Allen and sons simply has the best available. I get it with slaw on top and add some Texas Pete's for that extra zing. The sandwiches are large and are a problem to deal with for the first 60 seconds or so - then it gets easier. Wait staff is very pleasant and the sweet tea is very sweet. Seating is a bit uncomfortable, but I already know that going in.
Pros: The BBQ Sandwiches
Cons: Somewhat hard to find, furniture falling apart

This is a great Vietnamese restaurant in Chapel Hill. We were especially looking for Pho as that is one our favorite lunch dishes, and we finally came across a perfect place for it. The food tasted very fresh. The summer rolls were great, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant felt welcoming.
If you are looking for great Vietnamese restaurant and a great bowl of Pho, go to Lime & Basil. You will not be disappointed
Pros: Food, Service, Value
Cons: Parking can be limited, can be crowded depending on time

More
Spice Street is an artful representation of the confluence of diverse peoples in modern America. Something about the eating experience is mystical. It must be the physical set-up - the high ceilings, the fountain of water, the relationship of lighting and space, the Arabic food - that makes me feel I am eating fruits in the garden of Eden. The menu, the interior design, the wait and culinary staff merge the whole world in one kitchen and dining room. Some think the colors, sounds, and smells fight, but I see a microcosm of the mosaic that is Chapel Hill. What an appropriate restaurant to have in this town. It is a total testament to our cosmopolitan, open-minded, forward-moving community.
The food service is simply remarkable. The staff gave me a tour behind the scenes. I inspected the kitchen and the two room-sized fridges. The kitchen is at the heart of the restaurant. It is meticulously organized and clean. The vegetable storage is stocked with fresh, whole produce - pyramids of romaine lettuce, eggplant, okra, chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, tomatoes, russet potatoes, zucchini, green chili, red bell peppers, yellow squash, onions, yardlong beans. Raw black and white chocolates and custards sit behind a smaller glass fridge. In the meat storage are packages of fresh squid, beef steaks, whole chicken. The head baker kneads dough and bakes pastries and bread in a large oven in the center of the kitchen. If you imagine that Spice Street is overpriced, you do undercredit the freshness of the food and the authenticity of its preparation. Seven dollars for a Fatouche Salad is a pretty good deal, considering that Spice Street has "kept it real," or at least as real as it can get on Estes Drive.
I recommend that you have lunch or dinner at Spice Street. You would have a luxurious and delicious experience, but just as important, you would patronize the local color(s)!
Pros: Architecture, interior design, cuisine, service, parking
Cons: Spice Street is simply fine dining.
