This restaurant is a great place to go for a quick bite to eat before a movie. It is a wonderful combination of Cajun and Mexican food, with something for everyone. I am a pretty strict vegetarian, and have always been able to find something yummy to eat. The service is pretty good; I have never had any complaints.
It’s a good value for the money. The appetizers are HUGE and a quesadilla appetizer will easily serve two people. The guacamole is among the best I have ever had in my entire life. It is made fresh on the premises, and you can tell.
The restaurant itself is brightly decorated, and great music is always playing in the background. It never gets too loud, at least when I have been there. I definitely recommend this restaurant, if you are visiting Harvard Square!

The Field, located on Prospect Street in Central Sqaure, is a decent place to meet after work. It never seems to get too noisy, and they pour a mean Guiness! Theior selection beers is pretty good for a small place, and their service is often great. My only complaint is the food. I'm vegetarian, quite strict, and tehre is really not much for me to eat there. Salad, mainly. But, my carnivorous friends love their sandwiches, and I love my friends, so I'll probably keep going back!

I have been dealing with the Newton branch of this insurance agency for my car insurance. They are great. Because my car is currently uninsured and I can't drive it, they are coming to my house to do the paperwork. And for a very small fee they will deal with changing the title, getting it registered, and everything else for me! I don't have to set one foot in the DMV. They are wonderful to work with, and I am really happy with them. Great customer service!

I have recently had the misfortune of having some horrible car problems. Patrick and his crew at West Cork Auto were recommended by friends, so we took the car there. This is, in my opinion, the best mechanic in Jamaica Plain. They are very honest, very upfront about costs and what needs to be done with your car, and have great Irish accents to boot! I have complete trust in them, and will be using them exclusively from now on.

They are happy to work with people who tinker with their own cars (like my boyfriend) and give advice and help. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, and I have never walked away feeling cheated.
I have had horrible luck in the past with mechanics, but now that I have been introduced to this service station I feel my luck has changed.

In a town full of touristy items, The Cannery Gift Shop stand out as a great example of how fun it can be to not be touristy. this has been one of my favorite shops for years. They have a wide variety of gifts, T shirts, home and garden decorations and doodads. They also have a small, if sweet, selection of children's clothes.
There are two floors to this shop and both floors hold surprises around every corner. The staff is usually very sweet, often quite young. The Cannery s only open during the busy season, so you must go between memorial day and Columbus Day.
It's a great little store, with some fun items to choose from. They are very child friendly, and have things that even a ten year old can afford.

Slicks is a neat little store in Boothbay harbor that sells women's clothing. Much of the clothing is of natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and wool. They have a wide selection of items to choose from, both casual wear and dressier things.
The clothes tend to be a little on the pricey side, but you really are paying for quality. I have a tank top that my sister bought and passed on, that has been owned by myself or my sister for 10 years. It's pretty basic and classic, not trendy, and it has held up well.
They occasionally have really good sales, and that is the time to go! Their end of the season sale is especially great.

Sherman's books is a decent little bookstore in Boothbay harbor, ME. The downstairs is filled with toys, art supplies, gifts, and souvenirs. The upstairs is where the books are, as well as more art supplies.
The books are fairly standard, although they have a great section of books on Maine. Their bargain books are great, sometimes you can find a really good deal here.
Their magazine selection is pretty good too. Boothbay Harbor is a small town and sometimes it is hard to find good magazines. Sherman's has many of the ones I was looking for on a recent visit.
The staff is nice, and very helpful. they will often do special orders if asked.

The State Street Smoke Shop is a small cigar and cigarette shop on State Street, near the Financial District. They have a small variety of cigars, cigarettes, magazines, and greeting cards, as well as a small selection of fairly nice wine. It is a tiny storefront, but very convenient for all the office workers in the area.
The staff is not rude, but not exactly friendly. That is the downside to this store. I'd rather buy my wine somewhere where people are a bit kinder.
The convenience of the store is its biggest asset. I believe it is one of the only stores in the area that sells cigars, and they have some decent ones. But I would prefer to spend my money elsewhere.

A Silver Lining is one of my favorite jewelry stores in the Northeast. It's worth a visit. They have jewelry for every price range, including some beautiful one of a kind pieces that are sure to stun you. They also have a wide selection of rings and earring and other jewelry for those on a lower budget.
Although their focus is on silver jewelry, they also carry a few gorgeous cases of gold (both 18 and 24K). They have a very wide selection of items with Maine Tourmaline stones as well. The silver jewelry is just great though, many of the pieces featured on the wall are made by local jewelers. Some are extraordinary!
A Silver Lining also does repairs of jewelry in their studio, as well as making custom made items. The store's owner is a jeweler himself, and makes wonderful pieces! The staff is very helpful and well educated about jewelry, some have been working there longer than 15 years. It's a fantastic store and worth a visit if you are in Boothbay. Added bonus: they are open year 'round!
