We have been dining at the Colophon for almost 20 years. It has become one of our favorite restaurants in town. The service has always been friendly. They offer a wide variety of soups, sandwiches, salads and more. I love the African Peanut Soup! They also make their own desserts, and have an ice cream counter upstairs. Be sure to try their huge Peanut Butter Pie. It is a great place for casual dining, and having a glass of wine on the back patio in the summer.

This is the liveliest, yummiest spot for a weekend breakfast. The owner, Oliver is from Belgium and he creates the most magnificent pastries and tasty treats. He is a proponent of our local 'Buy Local' program and uses mostly organic foods for all his dishes. He creates incredible egg and waffle plates. And the coffee, mmmm....the best in town, especially the mochas, his chocolate, of course Belgium is amazing. Comfortable, eclectic atmosphere.

The Colophon restaurant is probably my favorite place to go and eat on a rainy day! They have a great selection of healthy foods, and not so healthy desserts! They have so many choices, from sandwiches to soup, to quiche to homemade pot pies. I've never had anything that wasn't excellent. My personal favorite is the Mexican corn and bean soup. A little hint... they have a cookbook that they put out, and you can make their famous food at home for way less....though the prices aren't too bad at the restaurant.

The pita pit is open super late, and most late nights you find several intoxicated college students in there! There isn't much better choice of something to eat around - and it's fresh and healthy!
At the pita pit, you step up to the counter and order - you can choose several concoctions that are premade, or make up your own. Don't fret if the ready made recipes have something you don't like - you watch them make it and can add or take off what you do/don't like. The prices are great, the food is super yummy and it's fast too!

More
Skylark's is an institution in Fairhaven - the place to go for weekend breakfast. Whether it's residents or tourists who make it so popular is hard to say. It certainly exudes the sort of home-y charm that appeals to a certain age set. Old advertising prints hang on the walls, there's a fireplace in one corner, the windows have stained glass at the top. But it works. It feels a bit like going to your aunt's house for Sunday breakfast.
Really, breakfast is the meal I would recommend Skylark's for. Perhaps it's just that my expectations for breakfast are so much lower (anything other than cereal is a treat), but it seems to me that this is the only meal that Skylark's really exceeds my expecations in making. At lunch, their clam chowder suffers from sandy clams and bland flavor. Their dinners aren't very flavorful. But breakfast? Perfect toast, beautiful omlettes, and my mother claims that they have the best scrambled eggs she's ever tasted. New renovations have added plenty of seating to the restaurant, so if you've stayed away for fear of the breakfast crowd, now's your oppurtunity.

We tasted their cakes here before deciding that this is where we wanted to get our cake. We were given free delivery of our wedding cake and while we ordered our cake several months in advance, they told us that they could have done the cake even only 2 weeks in advance. The people were very nice and had lots of books for us to go through to decide what we wanted for decoration. So my mom and I spent at least an hour or two going through these books and designing the cake we wanted, three tiers, with blue frosting and silver balls...what we had in mind was pretty extravagant. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding, we did not get the colors that we specified. The cake we got was MOSTLY what we had ordered, but instead of blue flowers we got pink and there were no silver balls.
They were very apologetic and gave us a $50 credit, which we used to purchase birthday cakes for the next year.
In hindsight, it wasn't that big of a problem. The cake ended up costing us only about $100 or so and the only people at the wedding who knew that the cake was wrong was me and my mom. Everyone said how beautiful it was and what made up for it was the taste. They make fantastic cakes and another thing I liked was that they allowed us to have each layer as a different flavor of cake. We ended up with 3 different kinds of cakes and while it wasn't the exact colors we asked for, everyone at our wedding couldn't stop gushing about our cake.
As a bride, I know I was upset about it when it happened, but afterwards looking back, I felt that they made up for it with the credit we received and the taste of the cake and all the people who loved it made it better. I would definitely use this place again for another wedding cake.

Shari's is one of my favorite places to eat.. not exactly gourmet but the food is hot, fast and fresh. If you can grab one of the booths on the right hand side, you will get faster service as its nearer the kitchen. The only downside is that there is a 'smokers section' and the smoke can drift over to the non-smoking section. The desserts are TO DIE FOR! Overall, cheap and good, but don't take your date!

Such a nice place to spend the early morning (they open at 7 everyday) or the afternoon (they do close up at six). Good, locally roasted coffee and good people. The restaurant/cafe next door serves great breakfast food too and will bring it to you in the cafe. I never feel rushed here and enjoy the atmosphere of spending a few hours reading, writing, doing email. Tony’s quickly becomes a habit!
