Wow, this Golden Corral was pretty bad. I definitely would not return. The selection of food during dinner time was lacking. The tables around us had piles of dirty dishes. The service was really bad. And there were flies buzzing all around us during dinner.
The atmosphere was not appetizing and I know I will never return to this Golden Corral.

The food was average for a Japanese place. They did make good sushi but the tempanaki was so so. The best part of dinner was asian sesame ginger house dressing, which was by far the best that I had. The portions are smaller than the places back in Jacksonville. They were cheap on the sauces but the spicy mayo sauce was not that good anyway. It was really sweet. They charge extra for fried rice which is weird.
The service is good and there is an assortment of mixed drinks.
I don't know if I would come back.

After reading about Tida Thai on Hampton Road.com (http://home.hamptonroads.com/dining/reviews.cfm?id=1035), my husband and I had to go to try this place out.
It's in a crappy location and the restaurant is dark and the decor is horrible. The service was slow because the restaurant is understaffed. It's seemed like an unorganized mess.
We've been to numerous Thai restaurants but the food here was by far the worst ever. I would never just bash a restaurant but it was not like the reviews I had read.
First of all, the bad review is soley based on the food.
First some PROs:
1. The thai ice tea is good. That's because you can't screw up Thai ice tea. lol, if they did the place should be closed.
2. The shrimp pad thai was pretty good. They was no lime on the side and there weren't enough bean sprouts. At least it was served hot.
And the CONs:
1. Appetizer numero 22. Wow, it was nothing like the description. More like a sausage of random stuff wrapped in bean curd paper and fried. The plum sauce was the best part of the dish.
2. Beef Kapaw. This dish was WEAK!
First of all, I wouldn't even be so mad if it wasn't COLD. This dish looked more like beef and broccoli. I think beef and broccoli at any Chinese take out would taste better than this dish.
They used the cheapest cut of beef and the pieces of scrap meat was pink in the center. The dish was swimming in a pool of watered down sauce -- I guess they forgot to thicken it. The beef was flavorless because the sauce was flavorless and disgusting. You couldn't taste the basil until you ate the lone basil leaf floating in the pool of sauce.
The broccoli was cut into tiny florets, the size you feed your 4 year old so they don't choke on their veggies.
The rice was the worst tasting rice ever. Definitely the cheap stuff.
Needless to say, if you really are craving Thai food you are better off staying at home and making it yourself. I'm positive it will be better.

After living in Jacksonville, I often dream of the shopping back home in NYC. So visiting the Chesapeake area this week was a pleasant surprise!
The Greenbrier Mall offers an assortment of stores. I did find a couple of cute places for junior's clothing --- I can't wait until I can start wearing my normal clothes again. They even offer military discounts at some of the stores!!
It's a nice place to bring your family, they have lots of places to get snacks. I didn't see anything baby related though. There are comfy seats along the walkways which is a plus.
The Sarku Japan stand in the food court serves yummy Chicken teriyaki. You might even catch their cook doing tricks with his cooking utensils like you find in a tepanaki place. lol
I love the pretzels at Auntie Annie's. $2.11 is the price for a cinnamon-brown sugar pretzel. Very delicious!
There are TVs in the food court so you can be entertained while you eat!
My only criticism is that there were not enough escalators or elevators to transport me between the lower and upper levels. I found it tedious returning to the centrally located elevator each time I needed to move between the floors.

I never had Turkish before so I can't really compare it. The chicken and spinach was okay, I could have made it. But the chicken with carmelized onions was very juicy and delicious, the rice was lightly seasoned with pine nuts and it was refreshing.
The revani we had for dessert was overly sweet. This cake just isn't for me. It was seemed dried out and then soaked in syrup.
The turkish tea tasted like any other black tea. Nothing special. Maybe I should have went for the other drinks.
Overall, it was satisfying. I would come back to try their sandwiches.

We have to stay two nights here in the Courtyard Marriott because the Fairfield Inn was overbooked. Let's just say, we are checking out tomorrow to go back to the Fairfield. lol
Even though these two hotels are adjacent to one another, they are very different. You can read my other review of the Fairfield Inn.
But here are some pros and cons of the Courtyard:
Pros:
1. Indoor swimming pool
2. Beautiful lobby
3. Quick check-in, nice staff.
4. Large windows, ample sunlight in guestroom.
5. Two phones in the room.
Cons:
1. You have to pay for breakfast.
2. The guestrooms are extremely awkward (at least room 327 is) so I didn't have the at home feeling you would expect from Marriott hotels.
The TV is to the immediate left of the bed. So you have to break your neck to watch TV in bed.
All the lamps use circular fluorescent tubes which makes for ugly lighting.
The bathroom is so tiny. If you have the door open you can't get into the shower. The dark blue shower curtain makes the bathroom even darker. I guess it's nice if you like to shower in the dark. lol.
The toilet is so powerful (which can be a pro if you are trying to flush an entire roll of toilet paper) but it's so loud that it startles you when you flush. Prepare to be blown away lol. Very scary when you are making a mid-night run to the restroom. lol. The toilet can wake everyone up.
3. Wireless internet can't be accessed from the third floor, so you have to use the ethernet cable and stay near the work desk.
So if you had a choice, stay at the nearby Fairfield. It's the same price and you get free breakfast! : )

You'll find a huge assortment of hot sauces for you to use on your sandwich. You can even have a complimentary firefighter helmet in plastic if you are a kid.
I had the Hook & Ladder sandwich which was so yummy. I wish I would have got a large instead of a medium now. : )
It definitely beats all the other sub joints.

Since my husband is away, I've been having lunch alone in the Chesapeake area.
Today, I was craving breadsticks so I went to the OG near the Greenbrier Mall. The wait time for a table for one was 15 minutes. I sat in a nice booth that was well lit so I even read my paper.
The service was fast and the prices are very reasonable for Italian. I had the Ravioli di Portabello as usual and it was under $8. I asked for lemon with my sweet tea and I was glad to find a huge lemon wedge in my tea. I like it sour since I'm very pregnant lol. The Zuppa Toscana was a nice alternative to the Minestrone. And I even had room for dessert! The fruit was extremely fresh in my Berries and Zabaione. It didn't look as big as the picture in the menu but I couldn't finish it anyway lol.
Overall, it was a relaxing lunch for one and I wasn't rushed at all. I like that!
The restrooms are also clean! Another plus!

The sushi is yummy. Try the real crab California or any of their new rolls. My husband who hates sushi praised this place lol. I was shocked.
The shrimp tempura is fresh and definitely better than other places.
Fast service and perfect for two!

Yet another great dinner at Carrabba's!
I had the lobster ravioli which was rich and creamy! But the chicken parmesan was the best I've had in any Italian restaurant. The chicken was juicy and not overcooked or undercooked. It was perfect!
It's not as commercial as Olive Garden and the decor is much better. I prefer their hot bread and olive oil over the breadsticks at Olive Garden but OG salad is tastier.
The tiramisu was HUGE. Definitely big enough for two or three people to share. I would come here for the desserts! lol.
Too bad they aren't open for lunch.
