I have gone here a few times within the last few years but have noticed everytime that they don't sterlize the tools between uses. I have watched this closely and also read in the paper that they were written up by the board of health. Please beware of this salon, if you choose to go bring your own tools for safety reasons.

I have found that Pearl River florist is a good local florist with good prices for a florist. They also can special order any flowers you want. They are very busy on holidays so order early. They are very good at helping arrange a bouquet for you, you just tell them the price range and they will create it for you. The people there are also very very nice.

In the heart of Pearl River is the Pearl River Florist. An institution in the small town that provides flowers for any occasion, be it happy or sad. Their staff are very helpful and knowledgeable in putting together arrangements that are just right and will fit any budget. They have a beautiful selection of flowers and on holidays, like Mother's Day which is right around the corner, they also have pre-made arrangements for the shopper in a rush. Also they've got some lovely stuffed animals to add to your presentation. This is certainly the place to shop when you're in need of flowers!

The Pearl River business district just wouldn't be the same without Mel's Army Navy store. They're the only store that tries to continue the long held tradition of Summer Sidewalk Sales that used to involve the whole downtown area. Now it's pretty much just Mels but it's still fun none the less! The staff couldn't be more helpful and the prices are great. It's so much simpler to shop right in town rather than treking to one of the crowded malls. Mels is an institution in Pearl River.

Most of the restaurants in Pearl River have that casual, Irish atmosphere, but Louie's is the place you go if you are looking for a slightly more upscale feeling. Set in an older home on Central Ave., you are able to sit in different rooms to dine. Their menu is pretty extensive. I haven't eaten here in a while, so I guess I need to go check it out again.

As soon as you step into the Stitchery, you are surrounded by beautiful yarn of many colors and hues. Take your time and look at patterns. Discuss your project with the expert staff. They can guide you to the perfect yarn and answer your questions and (so important), they can help solve any problems you encounter while working. It's fun to bring in your finished piece for show-and-tell. The staff want to see how it came out and other customers do too. Nice, nice place.

This is a great restaurant with a very intimate feel. The conversion of an old house makes for small dining rooms with a feeling of privacy that is very welcomed after a long day. The daily specials are original and creative and the regular menu is very good.

I haven't been to the saloon lately, but it is a fun place for a casual dinner. Their burgers are big and they are terrific. I haven't strayed much from that when I come here. It's a pretty simple restaurant, so you tend to lean toward the basics! I have heard that their other food is good too. Sometimes it is hard to get a table, if it is a weekend night, but I have found it is worth waiting. If not, there are other restaurants in walking distance, but few as good as this one.
