Baker Bros. Deli in the Montgomery Plaza Shopping Center may be up your alley.
This place has been open for 4-5 months now and is always packed. Since my sweet husband came to meet me for lunch today, we went here.
They serve all kinds of soups, sandwiches, salads and baked potatoes. My current fave is the Napa Valley Turkey, while my hubby had the Kentucky Club. Both sammies were hot and delicious and served with crispy veggies and a huge pickle on the side. We both had the Baked Potato Soup too, which is creamy and filled with big chunks of potato, carrot and celery, and topped with crispy bacon and cheese.
They serve something called Paradise Tea there too, which has an islandy taste to it.
Lunch was a little high at almost $16.00 for both of us, but this is fine for a once in a while thing.

There was recently a new Conn's Appliance built in the Arlington Highlands Shopping Center. Hubby and I went in there last week for their "Grand Opening".
I have got to say, I don't understand how this place does business, or STAYS in business. There was a LOT of empty space, very little product, and a lot of what they had on display was already broken.
This place has billed itself as the alternative to Best Buy, Home Depot and your local furniture company. I say, stay with Best Buy, Home Depot and your local furniture company. The prices here were not any better than at any of those other places and the selection was extremely limited.
All in all, we were disappointed in Conn's.

We went to lunch today for a co-worker's birthday, and her choice was the Macaroni Grill.
This place has a great casual ambiance and darn good food. I usually get either the Scallopine de Pollo or the Penne Rustica, two of my all time favorites. The Scallopine has perfectly cooked chicken tenders in a lemony-buttery-capery sauce, served with cappellini pasta.
The Penne Rustica is a hearty combination of penne pasta, chicken, shrimp and veggies in a parmesean cheese and rosemary sauce. It's baked until the top is crispy and delicious.
Of course the foccacia bread and olive oil for dipping are fabu.
For lunch or dinner, Macaroni Grill is great casual Italian food! Check them out here: http://www.macaronigrill.com/Home/Default.aspx

I watched a television show about fried chicken on the Food Network and that got the hubby and me in the mood for a little of that fabulous deep-fried bird. So we made a trip to our local Popeye's.
At Popeye's, the chicken is spicy and the sides are Cajun style. I like the dirty rice, while my husband goes for the red beans and rice and the smashed potatoes. And their biscuits are buttery and to-die-for delicious!
The chicken is crispy and spicy and yummy and hot. Prices are good too, at less than $5.00 for a two piece dinner.
When you need a fried chicken fix, check out your local Popeye's!

There is a new BJ's Brewhouse in Arlington. I had never heard of it before, so for my birthday, my hubby decided to take me there. Mostly because I like beer. I like beer a lot.
So this place is HUGE and cavernous. It is a mixture of cool modern and traditional decor - look at the crystal chandeliers hanging next to the sleek cylindrical lights. The place has intricate mouldings and comfy booths.
We sat down and ordered a sampler of the beers they brew there as well as some of the BJ's Nachos. The beers were all smooth and delicious. The nachos were covered with chili, cheese and jalapenos.
We both ordered burgers for our entrรฉes and the portions were so HUGE, we would up taking most of it home. The burgers were half-pounders and the fries were big wedges and were nice and crispy.
They have lots of flat screen TVs around and we watched the Cowboys kick some Indianapolis butt. That was fun too!
After having an appetizer, two burgers, and a couple of beers each, our tab was right around the $35 mark. Not bad! Check out BJ's Brewhouse before you go by clicking here - http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/.

OK, so I try not to pay retail for anything. While my hubby and I both have good paying jobs, even if I won the LOTTERY (ohplease ohplease GOD letmewin), I still wouldn't pay retail for anything. That's one of the reasons I shop at Kohls.
Kohls usually always has great sales. To me, a sale isn't a sale until the signs start saying 50% off, and Kohls always seems to have racks and racks of cool stuff at smart savings.
Just last week, I went to their one-day-only sweter sale and stocked up on some cute sweaters and fleece things.
And as a BONUS, their Halloween stuff was marked down to 90% off. So that's when I stock up on candles and holders and Halloween decor. Most of this stuff works all through the Thanksgiving season and makes fabu gifts!
If you're lucky enough to have a Kohls in your area, shop now! If not, shop online at http://www.kohls.com/main/home.jsp. You won't be disappointed!

My husband and I recently purchased a vintage BMW. This 1987 735iL was in beautiful condition, all the bells and whistles worked, and there were only 125,000 miles on this one-owner car. But there was no owner's manual in the glove box as the previous owner had misplaced it! So we didn't know what half of these buttons went to... hahaha.
So, a friend of mine suggested that I contact BMW USA and request an owner's manual.
When I contacted BMW, they were just as enthusiastic about my used-car purchase as they were for a brand new one. They not only sent me an owner's manual for the car (beautifully leather bound to match the interior of the car, I might add), but they also put me in touch with a vintage BMW Enthusiast's Club in my area and provided a list of certified BMW repair shops.
If BMW offered me this much fabulous customer service for a 20-year old car, imagine what they do for new owners!
Check them out (and see the NEW models) , at http://www.bmwusa.com/. BMW's customer service is fantastic!

Buck 'N Loons is an Arlington institution. This fun family restaurant is located just north of the Parks Mall on Cooper Street. And their huge menu has something for everyone!
The food is good, but go for the atmosphere. Buck 'N Loons is famous for treating the Arlington high schools right and you will find plenty of local memorabilia covering the walls.
The chicken friend steak is good (if you like white gravy!) and the hamnurgers are great too. Even the chicken parm is not bad! It's basically good home cooking you eat surrounded by friends. A fun place, Buck "N Loons is basically non-smoking too - an added bonus!

My hubby and I recently purchased a vintage BMW and needed an insurance policy pretty quick. After consulting with our regular insurance company, we decided to give Geico a try.
Holy cow! When that little gecko says he can save you money, he's not lying! We were able to get a comprehensive policy for our new old care at SUBSTANTIAL savings over our current insurance provider.
In fact, the savings were so good, I am looking at moving all our vehicles over to GEICO.
If you are in the market for a good car insurance policy at a rate that won't eat your lunch, I suggest checking out GEICO.com.
