Latitude 31 was my favorite restaurant in Jekyll Island...
We made 2 trips here the last time we went to Jekyll-
1 with the kids and 1 without-
There are so many great things about the restaurant--
location--right on the wharf
atmosphere--- delightful..
The restaurant does not take reservations--- so our first trip we had to wait a bit--- 30 minutes for a table.. While we waited we had a beer and oysters on the half-shell they were topped with sour cream! OMG--- The time we took the kids we went at around 4 PM... Beat the rush for dinner--- Not a long wait at all!
The view is beautiful....
Not all of us enjoy seafood--- latitude has a great menu- Mostly seafood, but some chicken and pork.. We all tried something different--- There were no complaints-
The prices are a bit pricier than some of the restaurants--- but so worth it-
Parking--- they have an overflow parking lot in the grass-- so there is plenty of parking.
The waiter we had was such a nice person! Looking around I only saw happy faces- Looked like everyone was enjoying their meal as much as we were..
The kids menu is nice too--- chicken fingers, fish fingers, fried shrimp...
I'm attaching a menu--
Truly a wonderful place to eat-- Very relaxing, beautiful scenery, and excellent food!

My wife and I made our first (but certainly not last) visit to Jekyll Island as a day-trip from Jacksonville, FL. Normally I shun buffets, but when we saw the oceanview location of Blackbeards we stopped to check into the buffet. Best move we could have made. We arrived shortly after the buffet opened at 5pm on a Saturday. The price was $24.95 and worth every penny, since that is the price range on the Island just for Low Country Boil or Crab Legs and the buffet had both. In addition, they served appetizers of oysters & mussels on the half shell, peel n eat shrimp, 3 salads, fried fish, fried shrimp, baked fish, shrimp etoufee, shrimp gumbo, BBQ Chicken and carved prime of beef. with au jus. Rice Pilaf, Mac & Cheese and Southern Style butter Beans were the sides and corn bread was offered. Dessert was Peach cbbler and several cakes. Mixed drink were a reasonable $5 and $6 (we paid that for Beer eartlier at the Rah Bar) and service was excellent. I highly recommend Blackbeard's seafood buffet.
Pros: Great selection and price
Cons: None

The Low Country Boil is the Best! Shrimp, sausage, corn & potatoes, and killer banana pudding included. We went last Thursday and caught the Wharfratz, a local trio. Great fun. Bob makes the best martinis.

Latitude 31 is located on the pier overlooking the water and marsh. The view is beautiful, especially at sunset. The food was exceptional, as was the service. I had the seafood crepes and it was delicious. I can't wait to go back.

The first vacation destination I thought of was
Jekyll Island! http://www.jekyllisland.com/index.asp
Jekyll Island located in Georgia is one of my favorite vacation spots.
We have driven down to Jekyll Island for the last 2 years. We always rent a condo on the beach- The prices are great- We go with 3 other families- and share the condo. Luckily for me we get a great price as we know the people who rent it out.
Things to do at the Island- We bike everywhere--- park the vehicles and jump on your bike or walk the paths.
Their are several activities to do:
Bird watching
Nature walks
Walk the beaches for shells and hermit crabs (this is a favorite for the kids)...
Look for Sea Turtles- haven't seen any yet on the beaches or in the water. (only seen them through the Georgia Sea Turtle Center)
Horseback riding along the beaches.. (We're trying this this year)
Its such a beautiful place... Many great places to eat also- We mostly grill out on the beach but have visited a couple of the restaurants!
If you're looking for a great family vacation- this is a great place to go-
My most favorite thing to do is walk the beaches-- and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Zachary's Seafood is a great place to go after a day at the beach. You can go to dinner in shorts and t-shirt. The food is good (great fried shrimp) and the staff is friendly. The prices are very reasonable.

I love to go in Santa's Christmas Shop when visiting Jekyll Island. They have the most wonderful, unique ornaments. The ornaments are high quality and well made. I have bought several ornaments as gifts for others and they were very pleased.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Located in the historic district of Jekyll Island, The Crane Cottage is a great choice for a nice meal. I had my birthday lunch here and it was fabulous. I had the chicken salad croissant. It was quite tasty. The service was great and the setting was beautiful. Best of all, when the meal was over we explored the historic mansions of Jekyll Island. I highly reccommend the Crane Cottage to anyone exploring the historic homes of Jekyll Island.

The Quality Inn is one of the pet friendly hotels on Jekyll Island. The pet fee is an additional $10 per night. We were in a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette. It was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly. It was indicated that a pet was in the room, and that the room was not to be opened without a guest present. This eased my mind greatly, I could enjoy my time on vacation without worrying that someone would accidentally let the dog out. They also have a huge area beside the hotel for dog walking. The hotel offers a free continental breakfast and has a nice pool. The only downside is that the hotel is not on the beach, it is across the street from the beach. But, it is not far.We were happy with our accommodations. We will probably stay here again when traveling with the pup. I think this hotel is known for being pet friendly. During our stay, there were several dogs staying at the hotel.
