I love to shop at Urban Cottage - it's always a peaceful, restful experience. They have all kinds of unique gifts for everyone from baby to Grandma - soft baby blankets, stuffed animals, scarfs, jewelry, leather goods, change purses, lots of shabby chic, ceramics, French hand painted pottery, lamps, vases, linens, kitchen furniture, soaps, luxurious cleaners, dried florals, hand tufted rugs, original paintings, framed watercolors and sketches, aprons, kitchen towels, armoires, nesting trunks, glass doorknobs, baskets, pots, jugs - all displayed in cute and comfortable room settings. It is my understanding that they design a lot of their furniture pieces, although they do have some vintage pieces, too. I also love to see all the fresh ideas Urban Cottage has for displaying things.

My husband and I love historic architecture and we really enjoyed our tour of Joel Chandler Harris' home. Harris, author of the Uncle Remus books was also an editor of the Atlanta Constitution. Originally built in 1870, Harris bought it in 1883 and in 1884 turned it into the cute Victorian Queen Anne cottage it is today. Virtually unchanged since Harris' death in 1908, this landmark home even contains the furnishings from Harris time there.

My husband and I love zoos. We've been to zoos in Miami, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Maine - all across the U.S. Although Zoo Atlanta will entertain your young'uns, it pales in comparison to some of the zoos we've been to - even some in smaller cities and towns with assumedly smaller budgets.

Designed by Richard Meier, the High was named one of the 10 best works of American architecture of the 1980s by the American Institute of Architects. The museum houses a growing collection of contemporary art, a wonderful decorative arts section, beautiful 19th Century landscape paintings, five centuries of European painting and sculpture, as well as African masks and ceremonial figures. World-class exhibitions come to the High, which is often the only Southeastern stop on national tours. Past exhibits have included works by Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rockwell, Michelangelo and other giants in art history. Don't miss: the woman sitting in the chair exhibit, the Member's Guild at the High and/or the Photography and Folk Art galleries at GA-Pacific.
Hint: On the first Saturday of each month, Fulton County residents receive free admission. Just present your ZIP code and proof of residence at box office between 10am and noon on that Saturday. It's first come, first served, though, so arrive early. Also, avoid the hassle of parking by taking MARTA to the Arts Center station.

Healthy and fast food are words not often associated with each other, but they fit the menu at Willy's. Burritos, quesadillas and tacos can all be ordered in healthier vegetarian versions. Two of my favorite items are the veggie burritos and the tofu tacos - both are surprisingly good considering they are made from veggies and tofu.
