I think everyone who lives in or visits Atlanta should see Underground Atlanta at least once, but I don't think it lives up to its potential. The historic architecture is wonderful but not really emphasized. To me, the shops and vendors are not much more exciting than any at the mall. Due to some loophole, the bars are allowed to serve alcohol until 4 a.m., much later than most places in the city. While it's neat to walk under Atlanta, I think this could be so much more.

As you tour the parlors and apartment, you will also learn some of the history of Atlanta. The museum has great memorabilia from the movie, Gone with the Wind - one of my all-time favorites.

From the hand painted front door and beyond, The Vintage Cottage has wonderful displays of shabby chic antiques and collectibles. I just want to buy everything I see when I go in there! There is lots of white washed furniture and decor items made from what some people might consider trash (ceiling tiles, old barbed wire, etc.) displayed throughout the store. One of my favorite antiques and home decor shops in Duluth.

Designer names like Kenneth Cole, Versace, Armani, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY and others at mere pennies on the dollar. I have a hard time, however, finding bargains for kids and/or house and home.

Designed by Richard Meier, the High was named one of the 10 best works of American architecture of the 1980s by the American Institute of Architects. The museum houses a growing collection of contemporary art, a wonderful decorative arts section, beautiful 19th Century landscape paintings, five centuries of European painting and sculpture, as well as African masks and ceremonial figures. World-class exhibitions come to the High, which is often the only Southeastern stop on national tours. Past exhibits have included works by Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rockwell, Michelangelo and other giants in art history. Don't miss: the woman sitting in the chair exhibit, the Member's Guild at the High and/or the Photography and Folk Art galleries at GA-Pacific.
Hint: On the first Saturday of each month, Fulton County residents receive free admission. Just present your ZIP code and proof of residence at box office between 10am and noon on that Saturday. It's first come, first served, though, so arrive early. Also, avoid the hassle of parking by taking MARTA to the Arts Center station.

Fresh coffee, great espresso drinks, a wonderful veggie sandwich (with cheese, peppers and eggplant) and chocolate cake to die for! All can be enjoyed either inside or outside under the covered or open patio. I love to come here with a girlfriend when we're feeling life has gotten just a bit too hectic and we need some time to enjoy ourselves.

We recently took a tour of the fabulous Fox Theatre and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned a lot of information about this impeccably preserved magnificent landmark that has been designated a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in the late 1920s as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque, it has survived depression, mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, competition, and a force which affects all of us, age. Through the work of volunteers and skilled artisans, The Fox Theatre has not only survived but been restored to its original opulent grandeur. Today, it regally hosts a variety of programs - theatre shows (such as The Phantom of the Opera, Riverdance, Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Delta International Series' musical presentations (opera, Gilbert and Sullivan, Mozart, ballet), weddings and receptions, corporate affairs and cocktail parties. Whether it be in The Egyptian Ballroom, The Grand Salon, The Arcade, on The Terrace or the Theatre Stage, your wedding, reception or party will be unrivaled.

Although I belong to another Baptist church, I visited First Baptist Church Of Roswell on Labor Day weekend with my grandmother, who was visiting Georgia, and her friend. They were having a picnic and some other special events. If I were not already a member of another church, I would consider joining First Baptist Church Of Roswell. The people were extremely friendly and the word of God was taught here. This seems to be a very active church with lots of unique and wonderful programs - for youth, seniors, men, women, singles, missions and counseling. They are planning a Broadway on Mimosa program, a Singles' Fall Retreat at Callaway Gardens and a Youth Winter Ski Retreat.

My daughter and I have been to Brina Beads several times to make jewelry. For a small fee, we sit in a designated area at the back of the store and get all the help we need putting our jewelry together (after making the tough decision of which fabulous beads to use). The fabulous bead selection includes semi-precious stones, sterling silver, vermeil, gold filled, glass, Venetian glass, lampwork, Swarovski Crystal, freshwater pearls, seed beads, wood, bone, clay, porcelain, vintage glass, fire polish, base metal and marcasite. It is always a special memory-making time for my daughter and me and we come away with a piece of jewelry as a bonus.
