Macy's 10/16/2006

Macy's on Herald Square has one of the best costume jewelry lines in New York. They have this whole wing dedicated to from 1920's collection to Juicy Couture. I'll admit some of the prices are kind of high which is why I wait for the new inventory to come in. That's when they get try to get rid of the old stuff by putting it in these bins and mark everything half off. You can score some really great finds this way. more

Macy's.. oh man! 4/19/2006

I'm not a big fan of this overpriced flagship chain in NY's Herald Square. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate every Macy's.. just this one. I think they train their employees to be standoffish and stuffy. They also train them to "upsell", a tactic used to reel in the shopper to get accessories to go along with whatever they are already buying. Hmmm.. When I go to a big store like Macy's, I want to get in and get out quick. I go with a particular purpose and I don't want to wait on long lines or be told by a "helpful" clerk that I need some concealer with the makeup I'm buying. Oh yeah it happened. But there is a magical quality to their toy department. I can't explain it. Sure, you'll pay more for their toys than you would at, let's say, Toys R Us, but you won't get that magical experience like you do at Macy's. more

shopping maze. 4/12/2006

Macy's is reputed to be THE best department store ever built. I used to agree. Within the last few years though, I've realized that Macy's is wayyy to big and overwhelming to have a good shopping experience. It'll take you hours to buy a t-shirt. I prefer specialty shops and targeted stores like Forever 21 or Victoria's Secret. Macy's has everything, true, but that means it has infinite amounts of things I'm not interested in and it forces me to dig through this infinity to find what I do want. And that is a waste of time. more

snobs 4/3/2006

I've never once gotten good service from this place. Everytime, I've had to wait forever just to talk to a salesrep. And they're always giving me a bad attitude as if I can't afford whatever I'm asking them about. But I have to admit that the prices in this department store is more expensive than in others- don't expect to find great sales here. more

Macy's 3/14/2006

Macy's Herald Square right near Broadway is a large clothing outlet. With the exception of Bloomingdale's, this store has it all. If you're looking for certain size dress or shoe, chances are this store will have it. Very good customer service, and fast check out. Got to be right up there with Bloomingdale's. more

The worst shopping experience ever! 7/29/2005

From the snotty cashiers to the pushing and shoving and over crowded store - I won't ever go back there. I was so livid when they refused to honor a price because the sale had ended the day before but nobody bothered to remove the display. I ended up spending 45 minutes in line to have the check out girl be rude and dismissive to me and the manager was nowhere to be found! I am flat out never going to that location again! I much prefer the one nearby in Parkchester! more

HUGE SELECTION, GOOD PRICES 7/29/2005

Macy's is a HUGE store! It has anything and everything you could think of for sale. If you're moving and want go get new EVERYTHING for your new home then take a few days off and just go to this store because it will take you at LEAST 2 days to find everything you want in their huge selection. Prices are pretty nice as well, you can definitely find some bargains there. Their discount card saves you a bunch of money and there's a nice return policy so you can get your money back if there's anything wrong with your item. If you have time on your hands, get to this store fast , you won't be disappointed. more

World's Largest Store 6/30/2005

This is a huge department store. It has everything you could need for the family. It is a great store to go gift shopping in as well. The store covers clothes, perfumes, household items, jewelry and more. Due to its size, and also popularity it is sometimes difficult to locate items. Sales associates are located in all areas, but I find that many times they are hard to find. If you know where to look bargains can be found in every department. more

I love Macy's! 6/19/2005

What can I say about Macy's? I love this store! Macy's is a HUGE department store. The mother of all department stores: Macy's! It has everything, including style, class, and an array of different people shopping here. This store stocks everything. With a huge range of it. Believe it or not, Macy's is not that expensive. There are so many bargains in Macy's. And I always get coupons in the mail. :-) And they also have a great online store. Whatever takes your eye. Shop around though before you make your final purchase. more

  • In 1857, R.H. Macy opened his eponymous dry goods store in New York City. The tally of his first day's receipts: $11.06. These days, under the aegis of Federated Department stores, Macy's anchors malls coast to coast, tallying millions in yearly sales. Macy's is every shopper's department store, located along the retail spectrum between Sears and Nordstrom. Crowded displays boast second-tier labels: Lauren and Polo by Ralph Lauren, Reaction by Kenneth Cole, Allen by ABS. The shoe department features many upscale selections: Via Spiga, DKNY and Martinez Valero for the ladies and Cole Haan, Skechers and basic Bass loafers for the fellas. Otherwise, rely on staples: Wamsutta sheets, Royal Velvet towels, Clinique cosmetics, Gold-Toe socks and Carter's for kids.
