The Apt NY-7922 (rent September 12-21 2009). A real new york style apt, exactly as we were looking for! charming, fully furnished, with a fantastic waterbed! we really appreciated the neighborhood: the funny and never sleeping chinatown, full of shops, markets, restaurants and cafè. The kind and nice owner has been very helpful. We surely recommend this apartment and and the services of the NY Habitat: very helpful!

My year spent living at a Jakobson property was the worst ever. Jakobson Properties does not clean or paint apartments before you move into them, yet they charge a hefty $175 "cleaning fee" when you move out. I was hit with this, even though I left my apartment in SPOTLESS condition. Maintenance at Jakobson Properties is a joke. They never return your calls and act like it's the biggest inconvenience in the world to do something as simple as fix a clogged drain or change a lightbulb. There's little concern for the safety or well-being of their residents. I was a single female, living alone, yet the my floor was kept pitch black due to a burned out light in the hallway. It took 6 phone calls and 3 months for this to be resolved. A lightbulb! For the rent they charge, this kind of service is insane. I would never recommend Jakobson Properties or nofeerentals.com to anyone looking for an apartment.

Thank you David, I was reading some reviews about brokers, Called Gabriel Mizrahi from citi habitats.
Just like you I told him what I wanted and he found it ont he first apartment he showed me, And didnt pay a fee. Its true that tomany new broker int he city and there clueless. Gabriel knows his stuff.

Nice people, very responsive to my needs. Worked with me (and I'm tough) for several months until they helped me find the right apt for the right price. Really for a small boutique type brokerage the personal service was exceptional. I would recommend them to anyone that is serious in looking for space in Manhattan and doesn't want to get lost in the shuffle with a large anonymous agency.

I too wasted days with other agencies that claimed they had the most listings out of anyone in the city. The apartments they showed me were way over my budget and not in the area's I wanted. When I asker why they were showing them to me they said that I couldn't find anything in my budget in the neighborhood i wanted. I felt intense pressure to sign for one that I didn't want because my move-in deadline was approaching quickly.
A friend suggested Manhattan Apartments, so I went. I was introduced to an Agent who listened to my needs and was able to come up with a few apartments she thought i would like. Grudgingly I went to see them. I couldn't be happier. I got a great apartment in the area I wanted, and she guided me through all the paperwork . I was able to move in three days later!!
Thank You Manhattan Apartments!!

Manhattan Apartments have tons of brokers who post about the same apartments on various websites without specifying the name of their company. Some apartments listed on their own website are surprisingly cheap, but when you call, you will be told that those deals are gone. Then they will try to get you to look at other places at higher prices. They just want to get you to go to their office.

I love coming here in the summer--beautiful rooftop views of the city. The rooftop bar definitely makes this people, lots of trendy people mingling about. The cocktails are good. The only downside is that the service can be spotty at times and sometimes the waitstaff have major attitude.

I very rarely write online reviews, but I took a few minutes out to comment on another review on this site, simply because I'm stupefied that someone could call Ely "considerate". The guy is a complete nut, he will be all smiles one minute, then scream and curse at you the next. This is not just my opinion, but is shared by all the other tenants in my building. We consider him emotionally unstable at best, vindictive and paranoid at his frequent worst. I generally make it a rule not to post anonymously, but I fear reprisals from "considerate" Ely.

It is hard to speak as a whole about the Corcoran Group since it is basically independent contractors who fall under the name. I can speak about the broker that my friends and I used when looking for a place, Samara Heafitz.
Samara was a great broker. First and foremost, she was honest and trustworthy. I looked at apartments with several brokers beforehand and they all tried to rush me a long and make a decision that I wasn't ready for yet. Samara didn't push my friends and I into rushing through the process.
Moreover, she quickly got a sense of what we were looking for and did a great job of screening apartments so as not to waste our time. She didn't try to get us to look at apartments outside of our price range to increase her commission check.
Samara did a great job of showing us apartments. She is friendly and easy to work with and works assiduously for her clients. Highly recommended!
