Using a space that used to house an indoor kiddie gym, this is now a prosperous and popular indoor doggie gym. Large windows in the front allow passerbys to watch a handler play with the dogs which are grouped by size. Dogs are taken out for a walk a few times/day and staff will also give medicines except for injections. Membership varies according to which package you choose, for example $250/yr which includes 2 overnight stays and a manicure/pedicure plus $31 for day care (7AM - 7 PM) for a small dog like a Maltese. Grooming, overnights, small shop with pet supplies even an adoption program!

My partner and I engaged Julie to help out with our TWO new puppies...a Brussels Griffon and a Havanese, each with their own unique personalities. We were amazed at their progress during their first session. And, how their progress continued session after session. Julie has such a innate understanding of dogs that they gravitated (and listened) to her immediately. Training 2 dogs at once is quite an undertaking and, thank to Julie, we are now on our way...and, I will forever have a bag of treats in my pocket!

More
I took my two cats to Riverside Animal Clinic when I first got them eight years ago, but stopped because they were so bad. Once, when I took my cat for a check-up, they put him on an examination table that was covered with hair and smelled strongly of dog. A few minutes later, somone began banging away on a drum set in the basement (where the sick dogs and cats stay). Unbelievable, but true. My cat was so scared he peed himself, something he's never done before or since. From that point on, I took them elsewhere. Recently, however, my other cat got sick, and my regular vet was closed, so I took him to Dr. Ramos. What a mistake. When the test results came in, the vet tech took it upon himself to read them to me and give me a diagnosis of kidney failure (which was incorrect--this was not the primary diagnosis). He then gave me (unclear) extended care instructions and sold me supplies for the kidney failure that he had misdiagnosed. After I left, the vet tech sedated and performed dentistry on my cat. I believe that this was done WITHOUT THE DOCTOR'S PRESENCE. When I finally spoke to the actual doctor, he told me that my cat's kidneys weren't too bad, and that he suspected there was another problem with the cat's liver. I took my cat out of there and to a specialist, and received the actual diagnosis--lymphoma with some secondary early-stage kidney disease. The specialists were appalled that a vet (or his tech) sedated and performed dentistry on such a sick cat. The vet tech's actions (and Dr. Ramos's negligent supervision) put my cat in real danger, and may have seriously impaired his ability to recover from a potentially fatal illness. If your animal has an emergency, take him or her straight to AMC or NYC Veterinary Specialists.

I cannot describe the number of times the AMC has come to my aid. As a perpetual cat owner (now with six), the AMC has helped me to navigate diabetes, urinary tract issues and routine care for my crew. They were extremely supportive during the end time of two of my elders. One cat lived to the age of 22 and the other to the age of 21. That would not have been possible without the profoundly good care at this facility. Run, don't walk, to get the best pet care anywhere.

Hydrosurge is a great way to either wash your dog yourself or have it done by an expert. This is not a grooming salon, but just an old fashioned dog washing place. Jay, the owner, has these huge bathtubs mounted on the wall and a wide assortment of shampoos and conditioners for your use. He is a big guy who can handle any kind of dog, including my nintey-pound hound dog. I always have Jay wash Riley himself as it's too much work for me. Riley always comes back to me smelling as sweet as flowers and feeling like satin. He takes good care with the dog's eyes (making sure no shampoo gets in them) and he cleans his ears really well. he has medicated shampoo if your dog has dandruff or other skin issues. He is chatty and quite knowledgable about dogs.

You know in their ads when they say, "it's where the pets go"? Well they mean it. The place is filled with folks and their dogs, and they do cat adoptions here too. It's craziness. It's also a fantastic pet resource from the basics to really unnessary travel accesories for them (although they do have airline approved sherpa bags as well).

One of my friends takes her cats to this office. Having been a cat breeder, I'm very particular about my vets, but very much liked the atmosphere and care they gave my friend's dying kitty, and how sensitive they were to her pain in the decision-making process. This is where I take my kitties when they need immediate attention.
