This is one of those places in NYC designed entirely for tourists. Sure, Hershey's candy is fun, and being able to get unusual ones (limited editions and large sizes) is cool, but in a city with the likes of Dylan's Candy Bar which also carries Hershey's products, you can skip this particular indulgence. more

Hersheys Times Square Store 3/27/2006

If you are in the Times Square vacinity you have to stop by the Hersheys Times Square Store. It's a great novelty store and impossible to miss. Just look up when you're around Times Square and look for the giant Hershey bar floating around. They have tons of chocolate to eat or give as a gift and there's chute where you can dump the chocolate and it comes down the chute into an aluminum pail. It's a lot of fun. more

If you need Hershey's chocolate, this is the place to go 1/16/2006

Hershey's in Times Square is a fun place to go if you're visiting NY or just if you enjoy giant collections of chocolate. Here you can find bed-sized Hershey bars and Hershey's kisses the size of middle-scale igloos. Yes, a chocolate lovers dream, indeed. Just be careful, may cause diabetes if exhorbitant amounts of chocolate are consumed. It's a lot of fun, though - and I found that stuff from this store makes great gifts, especially for people from other parts of the world! more

A Wonderland of Chocolate 1/15/2006

F.A.O Schwarz is to toys what Hershey's Times Square Store is to chocolate. The selection is extensive, the atmosphere is a thing of wonder and tourists are everywhere. And like F.A.O Schwarz, you can find things in Hershey's Times Square Store you can't find anywhere else in the world but at a price. Nothing is cheap here but like F.A.O it's a store everyone should check out at least once. more

For Chocoholics 12/17/2005

This is a great fun store to poke your head in. You can find anything Hershey's there. It's a bit small but they have some unique flavors of hershey's chocolate that you may not find in the store such as Cookies n Creme and Mint. There are stuffed animals, pillows in the shape of a candy bar, mugs, giant Hershey Kisses candy tins, and lots of other goodies. If you know someone who likes chocolate, this is a good store to buy them a themed gift. more

Mmm chocolate 8/15/2005

There's nothing special about this store. It's just all Hershey's products sold in one place. There are no people in suits or some spectactular show. Just chocolate. The place is clean and full of bright colors. Outside is pretty nice to look at, especially at night. The Ice Breakers spins, and some candy lights up. Messages are scrolling across the banner. It's a sight to see. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
The futuristic, candy-colored innards of the Renaissance Hotel's restaurant seem a garish attempt to keep up with Technicolor Times Square, blinking through the dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. However, even the midtown-phobic can appreciate the only-in-New-York view of converging Broadway and Seventh Avenue.

    The Food
The Asian menu, dotted with odes to Korean fare, is the brainchild of consulting chef Zak Pelaccio. Most of the dishes--such as the generous portion of unusually moist chicken wings, served with fried curry leaf, or the intensely tender and flavorful hangar steak--leap skyward from usual Times Square fare. But there's no magic or cohesion to the menu, and off-notes like a bland ginger chicken or oversalted sides make the price tags hard to swallow. The dessert riff on Vietnamese iced coffee is a welcome ending, unlike coconut sorbet sandwiched like a hockey puck between black sesame cakes.

Hits: The view of Times Square can't be beat, and many of the dishes show forethought and high-end ingredients rarely seen in the area.

    Misses:
You'll likely be eating in an empty room with servers more used to delivering hotel restaurant service rather than that of fine dining--while paying fine-dining prices.
