We went here for our engagement dinner, and it was perfect. The place was crowded (which I equate with good food), but it wasn't very loud. We were seated in the room that leads to the balcony, and the christmas lights were lit. That, the candles, and the flowers on the table, set the perfect romantic mood. The restaurant only offers prix fixe (at least when we went), and I don't remember exactly what we got, but it was very, very good. All in all, a perfect night and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: Great food, very romantic ambience
Cons: A bit pricey (2 dinners, 1 glass of wine = $250)

I went to Blue Water Grill last night, for my husband?s birthday. We had a table in the jazz room. Excellent atmosphere, a little crowded and noisy for my taste, but acceptable considering what it was coming. Their food is AMAZING! Their Chilean sea bass is perfectly prepared. This fabulous tasting white fish is served on a bed of greens drizzled with soy sauce and accompanied by a pyramid of sticky, flavored white rice which gives this delicate and flaky, buttery and mild fish an Asian twist. The crab cake is melting in your mouth. In my opinion, it is the best I?ve had in NYC. The freshly made potato chips are adding a crisp note to the softness of the extremely fresh crab meat. The calamari is served on a bed of cilantro leaves and grated carrots, drizzled with a perfectly matching sauce. The music is fine and completes the atmosphere. What I didn?t like was the hostess?s sour face and the waiter?s service. In the end, the complimentary champagne drinks were offered to make up for the little unexpected behavior of our server and for the uncomfortable table setting that we were assigned for the evening. A little bit more attention to that would make the place perfect, and who is not thriving for perfection these days?
Pros: food
Cons: sour hostess and rude waiter

I had a great dining experience last Saturday; I had to book a party for my sisters 26th birthday last minute since the other restaurant cancelled my rsvp. Anyways, we arrived a few minutes earlier and we seated at the bar. The pisco sours are incredible....then when were seated at this amazing table in the downstairs area. We since we had 14 people in the party we order family style and share some delicious tapas and ceviches. at the end the waiter brought us a round of shots on the house. he also helped us with the selection of dishes for the table.
i would recommend arriving earlier so that u can experience the way we did. i had a great dining experience last saturday, i had to book a party for my sisters 26th birthday last minute since the other restaurant cancelled my rsvp. My boyfriend took me to Le Bernardin for Valentine's Day this year and I can't even describe how wonderful our meal was. Everything we tried melted in our mouths, which is why I guess it is considered one of the best seafood restaurants in the world. I will definitely be returning to Le Bernardin in the future,
Pros: THE FOOD, Wine selection, class/ambience
Cons: None - except price (but well worth it)

Mermaid Inn recently re-opened with a spruced up menu and newly renovated digs, and I must say the place continues to fire on all cylinders. Yes, it can be difficult to get a table during peak dinner hours, but if you're willing to come a little early or later in the evening, you will be rewarded with simple, excellent seafood at a very fair price. Also, don't hesitate to have dinner at the bar - it's just as enjoyable. Stand-out appetizers include the beautifully crispy fried oysters with creamed spinach and truffle oil. The clam fritters were a little bit tastier when they were made with shrimp, but they're still crazy-enjoyable, served with a lemon-caper aioli. The tasty shrimp soup Veracruzano is a spicy tomato/seafood broth studded with plump shrimp and served with grilled bread. On the entre side, I very much like the pan roasted codfish with "New England chowder sauce" (basically cream, bacon and clams). The poblano mashed potatos that accompany the otherwise excellent grilled mahi mahi can be a little heavy, but the dish remains a winner. The lobster sandwich (basically a lobster roll on a hamburger bun) is certainly good, but I can think of a few places (Ed's Lobster Bar comes to mind) that are a little better. I've never had the only non-seafood entre, a double-cut pork chop, but it certainly looks tasty. Dinner ends with a complimentary cup of chocolate pudding with a dollop of whipped cream, and a Chinese fortune-teller fish to tell you what to prepare for as you stride out into the evening. The interior is casual and comfortable, and sort of evokes the inside of an old yacht. Service is generally very good.
Pros: Top-notch seafood, fair price
Cons: Can be difficult to get a table

The Sushi is great! I've gone to Bamboo 52 a bunch of times and it never dissapoints me. The waiters always suggest something different which turns out to be great! Let me not forget to mention how great their drinks are!! Look out for their Volcano/Hurricane (I forget the exact name)but let me tell you, this drink is strong and very tasty, and the glass it comes in is also very nice!

I visited fresh last week after reading a lot of reviews that were mostly very good. I wanted to see for myself if it was that good. The meal ended up being better then expected! The service was great, the presentations of the dishes were stunningly beautiful, and not like most restaurant the dishes tasted better then they looked. As a told the very welcoming gentlemen in the suit I will return soon.
Pros: Food and service
Cons: none
