Despite the cheap prices, the quality at this clothing is suprisingly NOT poor. In fact, the blouses or pants you may find there can survive more than one use. (Slight exaggeration - only kidding.) There are plenty of bargain finds for $10 there. Lots of dressy clothing and casual items. This is just another example of discovering good bargains without having to pay New York-skyscraper prices. Give it a try, won't leave a dent in your pocket if you're satisfied.

This mall is in a great location, right on Pier 17. Lots of great attractions nearby too, the Intrepid Museum is just right next door, the fish market is nearby, chinatown is a short walk up north, and don't forget Wall St. is right around the corner. There are lots of nice small shops inside. Clothing, jewelry, and art. There's a neat Broadway Beat shop in here too, that sells theater merchandise. There are also eateries inside in case you're tired of all the walking.

For tourists and native New Yorkers alike, if you're in midtown, definitely stop by and see what might be on the boards. Theater tickets for that very day are usually discounted at least 50%, and you will have to pay a service fee. And only cash is accepted. They've had some really popular Broadway shows on the boards lately; Phantom, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Avenue Q. It's first-come, first serve so if you want better seats, drop by early in the morning to get tickets. This is really a great option for those who don't plan in advance and might be interested in incorporating a show in their evening.

This is a well-known department store all over New York. Sorta like your Macy's and Filene's but it's a discount store. Better quality than your Kmart/Walmart with reasonable prices. Possibly equivalent to a Kohl's, middle-ground? They carry all sorts of mechandise - housewares, clothing, electronics, etc. If you like window shopping at huge department stores and enjoy bargains, this might be the store for you.

If you're just looking for cheap accessories for your home electronics, this is a good local shop -- without needing to go all the way to a Best Buy, who are known to overcharge for their accessories. I found some decent tv cables. Noticed they carried various accessories, printer cables, usb cables, etc for home computers as well. I'm not too sure about purchasing the actual electronics ( tvs, printers, pc's, etc) since the prices didn't seem that great a bargain.

As the name of the store suggests, it's a store carrying all sorts of women's clothes. There are lots of bargains - items don't cost more than $20. Lots of cute tops and pants for around $10. Lots of the clothes are quite skimpy, have a latin flair (lots of frills, lace), and are things you would wear to a club. However, they do carry cheap athletic wear, your standard tshirts and jeans. Sometimes they have items for less than $5. There may be great bargain finds since they change their stock often. However, you should check your items before purchasing. There is no changing room and there's a strict exchange-only policy.

Good local pharmacy in the heart of Chinatown. It's convenient stop while you're trekking your way through the neighborhood completing your shopping list of groceries and cheap produce. Since this is just a local pharmacy, don't expect them to carry all the other miscellaneous products you may find in your CVS. The employees are good taking care of your prescription and the wait is generally short. However, shampoo, bandages, etc are priced quite high -- pretty much at full retail cost.

If you like looking for unique or one-of-a-kind clothing or housewares, Anthropologie has quite a nice selection. They're like an Urban Outfitters with a touch of Crate n Barrel/Pier 1 for the older crowd -- less funky but still plenty of style and class. Lots of quality, but over-priced items. If you're looking for something different or original to decorate a house or apartment, you may want to try this store or at least browse their selection. They have plenty of nice pillows and throws.

Can't really find anything bad to say about this jean shop. It's in a great location while you're wandering in lower Manhattan. As they specialize in denim, you get what you expect. They have plenty of styles to choose from, as well as other clothing to purchase. Some of it you can find in department stores but there are much more vintage and the popular "distressed" designs to choose from. Prices are average for the area.

As there are few alternatives to the Hallmark store, here is Papyrus. They sell quality cards and gift-wrapping/packaging options for whenever you are planning to give a gift. I like how they use different materials for their cards and they tend to be more attractive and elegant than those of Hallmark. Colors They have a gift wrapping service and also can custom print cards but pricey, if you want to try them.
