Legendary vintage 5/28/2006

Vintage clothing is just one of those things that doesn't really work for me (nothing fits right), but if you're into it, you'll want to check this place out, even if just for its legendary status. As far as I can tell teh selection is good and the prices range appropriately. Fun fun fun. more

I am not a huge fan of vintage goods (the idea of someone else's dirt near me, despite numerous cleanings, freaks me out), but Screaming Mimi's is a fun place to peek through every so often. They have a great selection of shoes and men's belts. You will be able to find items in a rainbow of colors from every decade of the past 100 years. Please remember, just because it is used doesn't mean it is cheap. You might need to bring your plastic along with you. more

Mimi's 4/11/2006

Screaming Mimi is a small vintage shop located near Washington Square Park. The inside is brightly lit and very clean (kudos to them because they don't smell like other vintage shops). You will find: period clothes (Victorian, 70s, 50s, etc.), frumpy skirts, ugly shoes, ugly boots (both of which are overpriced), and bags. Really really elaborate wicker bags that are covered with fower patterns and sequins and are uncomfortable to carry. more

Definitely one of the better stocked vintage stores in the city however its not the cheapest. Screaming Mimi's claim to fame is that Cyndy Lauper used to work there in her pre girls just want to have fun days. Good selection of vintage digs and the accessories definitely fall in the funky diva category. more

Don't scream at me 12/30/2005

Screaming Mimi's is one the more famous vintage shops that is widely known as where Cyndi Lauper once worked. They have a wide selection of funky shoes, shirts skirts jackets etc. The stuff is often overpriced but the outfits are interesting at least. Fairly large but they have so many clothes it's a little hard to navigate around the shop without bumping into a vintage anything. more

When you walk in you are immediately surrounded by clothes of retro years. They have funky attire, fun accessories and lots and lots of vintage clothing. However the clothes there are not cheap. In fact in can get kind of pricey. On the upside a lot of the clothes have designer labels so if you like brand names you can find them cheaper at Mimi's. more

Even the store is vintage... 8/16/2005

Screaming Mimi's has been around so long that it might be fair to say the store itself is vintage and not just the clothes. They have one of the best selections of vintage clothing to be found anywhere and the prices are fair. Don't be afraid your boyfriend will be bored if you bring him along because there are even things for him there. A picture is worth a thousand words so go to their website to see some of what they have in stock. http://www.screamingmimis.com/ more
