The Donnell Library is THE media library out of the 80 or so branch libraries of the NYPL. This media center is HUGE and loaded with every dvd, vhs, cd (and books) imaginable! Whatever you're in the mood for, they will have. And it's all free! So why spend money on Blockbuster's or even Netflix?

Manhattan Mall has really decreased in its quality ever since 9/11. The top floor was being renovated the last time I was here. And there aren't that many stores to shop in. The only thing that's worth coming here for is the Christmas decorations; it's quite nice and I think they have a Santa every year. It's also a convenient food stop if you're shopping on 34th. But then again, if you're on 34th, there're tons of eateries out in the streets anyway.

This store is TINY. But it's so cozy, I walk in every time I pass by here. They've got great selections of used books (and the smell of them is intoxicating) and excellent used records (33.3 speed) for less than one dollor. I think it's 3 for $1! How can you beat that price? Though as I recall, the records in the back (Stones, Beatles, and the like) are more expensive.

For those of us who love to decorate but can't afford all the expensive interior design goods...Crate and Barrel is the perfect solution. They have excellent selection of cups, plates, and other glassware. They also sell furniture and pillows and sheets. And handbags. I love their vibrant colors. But don't bump into anything. Things are stocked delicately.

It's not the place to take your significant other for a romantic date. But you can chill here and play cards with friends and just relax. The service was very good.

This one is pretty big; all the ones in Manhattan are big, so no surprise. B and N is more expensive than Strand's but the selection is equally good. They have many different copies of books you might need, so there's variety. However, they don't have a lot of sales. The only one I can recall is the winter holidays sale. Good selection of calendars. But I come here mostly for new art books- great selection.

They have excellent exhibits every once in awhie and those are the ones that are really worth going to, because their permanent collection isn't that great.
