Sensible shoes, sensible prices 8/21/2005

Shoes for men, women, and kids. This is a good neighborhood source for comfortable, healthy brands like Ecco and Rockport. Also a good place to shop with the family since everyone's shoes are in one place. Because of the prices and selection, this store can get VERY crowded on the weekends, with strollers everywhere and sales staff unable to focus on you. Know this in advance if you can't deal with chaos - come on a weekday. Head for the back right side of the store for a special kids' section complete with primary-colored seats. On the back left side you'll find the more expensive men's dress shoes. Good selection of winter boots from Canada and brands like Ugg - first snowfall in NYC always has this place packed. Medical workers also use Harry's as their source for Dansko clogs. Tip to medical students: no other shoe will do when you're on your feet in a hospital for 24-hours straight. more

Good and Bad 8/19/2005

This is a hard one to review. On the one hand it's a real institution with knowledgable (if harried) sales staff and a great selection. On the other hand, its prices are consistently higher than all of their competition. They seem to have a very devoted following nonetheless. . .so many people think it's worth it. I get a bit annoyed at their refusal to play by the standards of the market. more

Good for the feet 8/15/2005

great selection of shoes for all. go for mom, dad, little jonny, or grandma and grandpa. The service is good as there are many employees on hand that willa ctually measure your foot... a lost art in the shoe industry. weekends are crazy... but tis worth it !! more

Shoe's For The family 7/10/2005

I bought shoes here when I was in High School 30 years ago and have bought shoes here in the last year. It's usually crowded so be prepared to wait and be a bit annoyed. The selection is pretty good and the employees know their shoes. It seems to be getting progressively more expensive but then again so do most things in New York these days. they carry classic looking shoes and can handle men , women and children. more
