The cupcakes from Cupcake Cafe are almost too pretty to eat...that is until you have tasted one and you can't wait to shove the rest of it into your mouth. REAL BUTTERCREAM. YUM. No sugar flowers -- BUTTERCREAM FLOWERS. Both the golden & chocolate cakes are moist & delicious. You may go into a sugar coma after eating one (or two...), so throw the rest in the fridge and enjoy them tomorrow with piping hot coffee. They are worth the trek to a not-so-populated part of town. more

on their cupcakes. i think these guys should focus on improving the flavor rather than trying to make them all pretty. save that for the wedding cake. like the other cupcakes i find in this craze sweeping the city, i find these to be a bit on the dry/bland side. maybe its just my taste - maybe i'm more of a brownie guy.... more

The cupcake cafe has the best cupcakes in NYC. The store is on the small side, but plenty of room for these amazing cupcakes. Stop by to pick up a few, or place an order. They even deliver. They come in a variety of colors, and are perfect for office birthdays or showers. They also have other pastries, in case (gasp) someone doesn't like cupcakes. more

i just dont get what all the hype is about. there are far better cupcakes in the city. theirs are very decorative, but they are kinda on the dry side. their selection of baked goods doesnt extend too far beyond what their name suggests. one other thing, we did go there to use them as a potential wedding cake vendor. they were pretty rude. they basically said, 'buy a cupcake. if you like it we'll make a wedding cake of it'. last time i go in that dump 2 stars only cause i cause i have a weakness for baked goods in general more

The cupcake cafe cakes are extremely floral, but very tasty. I had one specially made for a birthday and she absolutely loved it! Most of their menu had pictures so you can sort of tell them what you want, and they will help design a bake the cake. I'd definitely go there ahead of time and not get "rush" orders in. It's not recommended at all, because they'll deny it and charge you heavily for it. Overall, I was glad with the cake they designed and baked. All of it was delivered on time, and the cake was baked fresh that very day. The cake was not terribly sweet, and looked too beautiful to eat! I'd definitely recommend for at least one of your special birthdays! They also do wedding cakes too! more

The Cupcake cafe has quite a reputation, both for the inside and the outside of their cakes. The inside comes in chocolate, vanilla, walnut, lemon, orange, lemon poppy and carrot - all perfectly moist - while rich, creamy butter cream frosting is offered in complimentary flavors. But what really garners Cupcake Cafe cakes their fame is what's done with that frosting - cascades of beautiful, realistic flowers. You really have to see them to believe them. Check out the website for special orders, they offer cakes for all occasions, including weddings, but you'll need to place the order by phone or in person. If you just walk in you can pick up a cupcake ($2.50 for small, I don't remember how much for large. A small cake that feeds 4-5 is $15) or any number of stunning pre-made cakes. The cakes are absolutely charming and add a really special touch to any celebration. Extra bonus: it's right next door to children's bookstore "Books of Wonder", which makes a magical afternoon for little ones. more
