The Maui Prince hotel in Makena was the perfect first stop after our wedding. Not as fancy as the other hotels you'll pass on the way their (the Maui Prince is at the end of the line, which makes the beach even more private and amazing), it was great for us. The huge grounds made us feel like we were completely on our own, and the beach is truly amazing. The pool is a little small, and I'd spend money at other hotel restaurants first (do not miss Nick's Fish Market and Sarrento's on the beach). But definitely a gem.

The Atlantis cruises, located out of Honolulu, was definitely an adventure. A little scary at first (think slight claustrophibic in a tiny sub), the sights definitely make up for any fears i had of our running out of air. You first take a boat out to the sub, and just seeing it emerge, and how you get into it, and then down is worth the trip alone. But the fish and plantlife you see is even better. If you haven't been on a sub before, this is a great trip. Only downfall - the shipwrecks you're viewing aren't real - they are planted to show you the cool fish surrounding it.

Isabellas Treasures made my wedding jewelry, and I received a ton of compliments. With just a few short words about what I was looking for, and the colors in my dress, they made me a gorgeous choker necklace and long earrings that glittered in the candlelight. They have great prices, everything is wellmade, and who wouldn't want their own jewelry made for them?!

The feast at Lele was the best activity we did in Hawaii. We weren't sure which laua to do - this one or the Old Lahaina Luau, and while I'm sure they are both wonderful - I'm so glad we picked this one. With tables right on the sand in front of the most amazing sunset over the water, the food was second only to Nick's Fish Market.. and the performances and music made the night complete magic. If you're in the area, you have to go to this show.

Just when you think Maui is only sand, surf, sunsets and cocktails (not that there's anything wrong with that), I found the Shops at Wailea. A gorgeous open air mall, with high end stores (think 5th Ave in NY and Rodeo drive in LA), with some great restaurants and the best view ever. A great place for souvenirs, and to give your skin a break from the sun.

I checked out the Waikiki aquarium on a recent trip to Hawaii. And while the staff is extremely friendly, it's easy to get to in Honolulu and the information is good, it's a lot smaller than I imagined. My recommendation is that it's much better suited to kids than to honeymooning adults. But definitely worth checking out if you're bringing children.

Wallkill view farm, located on the outskirts of New Paltz, just over the bridge, is a great place for local farm produce, as well as really delicious baked goods (apple turnovers, muffins, bagels, etc.) They have the typical farm stand goodies like cakes, pies and jams, and their candy apples in the fall are incredible (we ordered some for guests at our wedding).

On a recent trip to Plymouth, one of the stops we made was at a few wineries, including Plymouth Winery. We were blown away by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff - and the amount of time they spent telling us about what we were sampling, and just getting to know us. With a great tasting area, and delicious raspberry wine (their specialty), this is a great addition to you trip if you plan to be in the area.

We stopped in at Plymouth Bay Winery after going to Plymouth Winery down the street. Both are great places to check out, and I highly recommend them both. We weren't as blown away by the friendliness of the staff, but this winery was a little more busy, as it's located in a great little shopping plaza (including an amazing frozen coffee place). But they have a really good selection, the prices are great, and they know their stuff. Check them out.

As if this wasn't already the coolest city, with a million things to do, here comes one more. If you've never been on the Mississippi, this is the way to see it - aboard the Natchez. For a very low price (about $18), they take you out on a huge steamboat, down the Mississippi, with a narrated tour on the way out (a little more than an hour). On the way back, there is music to listen too, and you can pay more attention to what you've learned on the way down. This was a very well run tour, and I highly recommend it when it gets back up and running (if it isn't already).
