love Chelsea Market Amy's 1/31/2007

Recently, I had my worst audition ever - trust me on that. I was feeling very low and needed a pick me up (and not just because my bloodsugar was in the dumps). Luckily, the audition was by one of my favorite places for a treat - Amy's Bread in Chelsea Market. I loaded up on a cafe au lait and some carb-olicious bread sticks. I couldn't have been happier unless I had gotten a callback. There are a couple of cafe tables in this Amy's if you want to sit and enjoy your snacks. Smell the bread all the way down the hall! more

Amy's Breads 10/14/2006

Part of the pleasure of living in New York City is being able to experience Amy's Breads. Located on busy Ninth Avenue near 47th Street, it is a store worth visiting if you're ANYWHERE near this area. Just follow the aroma of fresh baked bread. My particular favorites are the focaccia, sourdough and prosciutto and black pepper. The focaccia make wonderful pizzas; the sourdough makes unforgettable french toast and the prosciutto is just plain delicious on its own. The shop makes a wide variety of breads including a 100% organic line. Amy's breads are just plain good--a little nutty, sweet tasting and very, very satisfying. These are breads to be eaten and savored. Made daily, they don't have a long shelf life which means, eat them and enjoy. I've successully frozen loaves of the Raisin Walnut and Whole Wheat Oat Pecan using my trusty Foodsaver to enjoy later. And any bread that's left over makes scrumptious croutons. There's nothing quite like fresh baked bread. more

Run, don't walk 9/20/2005

Amy's rocks. The best bread in the city with a few locations throughout. But get the full experience and go to 9th ave located in what is heaven on earth: Chelsea Market. Go for the bread and stay for pretty much everything else you could possibly want. Amy's is consistently well priced, but the best bargain is the many different rolls, and the daily specials cannot be beat, making it almost a daily destination. Atkins fans, I pity you. more

Cupcakes to die for! 9/13/2005

Although all of the products available at Amy's bread are delicious! ...read: sandwiches, bread, cakes, cookies, etcera --- the cupcakes are amazing! These sweet and moist desserts will tempt even those with the strongest of willpower! Each cupcake is quite substantial w/the perfect amount of icing and Amy's staff makes it impossible to resist the tasty treats they have available for purchase. Though the location on Nineth is small, they do a good job seeing to your needs immediately :-) Enjoy! more

Handmade, Traditional Breads 8/15/2005

Amy's Bread has a few locations around the city, and can be found at www.amysbread.com This one, located in Chelsea Market, is a favorite of mine. Incredible variety of organic and whole wheat breads, and breads with olives, nuts, grains and fruits. There are a few desserts and snacks, which usually change depending on what the bakers want to make. My favorites are the twists...either seeded, rosemary or parmesan cheese...you can't go wrong! more
